EINGEBILDET Appears to do what it claims for the overall system interface, which has been kind of a holy grail in the Mac-theming community ever since Leopard came out. iTunes theming doesn't seem to work as advertised though, at least not on 7.7.1. My initial attempt resulted in a hang because I hadn't used the 7.7.1 version yet. Kameleon triggers iTunes to launch, but the SLA windows is hidden by the Kameleon window, resulting in an eternal spinning beachball while Kameleon waits for iTunes main window to come up. When I went back and clicked agree on the SLA window, quit iTunes, and then tried again with Kameleon, it failed to change the appearance of iTunes, but no hang this time. (Version 1.0.2)

EINGEBILDET I like the idea. If you get a chance to re-compile it (XCode does have the ability to generate Univeral Binaries...), it would be fun to check it out. I appreciate your responsiveness to comments. Good luck. (Version 1.0)

EINGEBILDET I think you, as the developer, should know more about your app than your users. The *preference pane* (your app) for USB Cat 1.0 DOES NOT WORK on an Intel machine. That's what the error means. I'm not talking about System Preferences. Sorry to be terse here, and I'm not trying to offend. (Version 1.0)

EINGEBILDET Perhaps you don't understand what happens when someone installs this on an Intel machine. The preference pane installs, and then I get a notice that says "Preferences Error: You cannot open USBCat preferences because it doesn't work on an Intel-based Mac". So, as the previous poster suggested, your response isn't relevant because I haven't been able to use USB Cat at all. Thanks. (Version 1.0)

EINGEBILDET Hi. Please consider this a request for a Universal Binary of USBCat 1.0. FYI, there are millions of people now using Intel-based Macs, and making a PPC-only app will really limit your user-base. (Version 1.0)

MNISHIKATA I guess SystemPreferences.app work on PPC emulation mode. But, I know this USBCat is not worth doing it. It's a small joke soft. Don't be bothered by it. Sorry for spending your time to write comments for that stupid software. Just forget it exists. (Version 1.0)

EINGEBILDET Well, I installed both Silk and WindowShade. Both appear to work in 10.5.2, but I get a blank space under the WindowShade Advanced tab where the options for adjusting shading should be. (Version 4.2b1)

EINGEBILDET Alrighty, a couple of more things about this application: 1. Throw away all your prefs and other files related to the app before running the new version. It refused to show anything being scanned and locked up when I tried to stop the scan before I did this. Afterwards it scanned fine. 2. Add it to your master exclude list if you use Unsanity haxies or anything requiring Application Enhancer - this is how I resolved the problems I noted in my review of 1.0.1 3. Developer is quite responsive and reasonable - that speaks well of his efforts and intentions. Let him know your experiences :) (Version 1.0.2)

EINGEBILDET Can't say I'm real impressed so far. I've tried to use this twice and each time it's locked up and crashed on me. This is during the initial scan phase on my Applications folder. I've created a few category folders for audio apps and graphics stuff, which any app like this should be able to navigate. It scans about a dozen application, then goes all beachball on me, crashing a few minutes later. Definitely not ready for prime time. (Version 1.0.1)

SuperTuxKart | Jul 28 2007 |
EINGEBILDET This is a fun game, though requires a lot of processor power to run properly, which I found surprising. On a G3/500 that normally runs a lot of open source games without serious glitches, this stutters and stumbles all over the place, even in 800x600 mode with no music. I suggest going over to the SuperTuxKart site and getting 0.3 - it plays smoother and has Hexley! For those who don't know, Hexley is the mascot of DarwinOS, otherwise known as the guts of OS X!! EINGEBILDET Downloaded this, put it in my Applications folder, launched it, then chose 'Open' to open a file. The app just blips out of existence, crashes and doesn't even trigger the crash reporter dialog. Using under 10.4.9. (Version 1.0b1)

EINGEBILDET yeah, this whole naming thing is silly, not to mention the collision between the name the icon. Polizei is 'police' in German, and the symbol is the international symbol for 'do not enter'. Apparently the author is trying to be cute. at any rate, the feature set of this app is incomplete when compared to several other equally free maintenance applications. i would just as soon use applejack and OnyX. SeaMonkey | Jan 21 2007 |
EINGEBILDET I don't use Seamonkey as a general rule. Both Safari and Camino are far faster, both to load and in overall performance. The only thing slower than it on my trusty, aging Pismo Powerbook is Firefox 2.0, which takes a ridiculously long time to launch. However, one place where Seamonkey continues to rule is the Composer component, which is my first choice when it comes to GPL-ish HTML editors. While there are versions of the effort to isolate the Composer editor to standalone app - Nvu and its unofficial sucessor, Kompozer - for OS X, neither of them have the polish (with minor UI issues) of Composer. And, if you really want to have it all in one app, which is where the great granddaddy of all Netscape/Mozilla projects first excelled, you still can't beat Seamonkey. I just wish someone would Camino-ize it so that it actually respects the OS X GUI. Something like CamiTools wouldn't be a bad thing either. (Version 1.1)

GarageSale | Jan 13 2007 |
EINGEBILDET Been a paid user of GarageSale since 2.0.x and have been very pleased. However, with 3.1 I'm having a serious issue - preview and auction tabs show me nothing but a blank window where the preview/auction should be. When I try to revert to 3.0.1 to test the problem, it reports that I can no longer access my auction data because it's too old. Now I'm going to get angry. (Version 3.1)

EINGEBILDET I'm sorry - can't help you much on that. I've never tried to do tempo changes within a sequence, but given what I know of LUNA's interface, tempo is set globally. I too am annoyed at the way KVR requires an account, but on the up-side, it's a pretty basic amount of info they ask for. It was worth it to me to register. (Version PR5)

EINGEBILDET First, the 15 second nagware thing never activates. It looks pretty much unplayable on a G3/300 Wallstreet Powerbook running 10.3.9; even the nag screen bogs my machine down. 1.4-2 worked pretty well on this vintage of machine, but this version is a serious CPU hog. No reason why such a simple game should require that much horsepower. Also, it's always annoyed me that the music couldn't be turned off. (Version 2.0)

SEALFIN EINGEBILDET, every version since 1.3 has had the option to turn the music off, by pressing the 's' key; in 2.0 this has been made more obvious by having two tick-boxes on the title screen to separately toggle music and sound FX on and off... That said, are you hearing the music when the nag screen is displayed? If you are, that really shouldn't be happening, and I'll have to look into it... I'll also have to look into why the game stops responding on your Mac... (Version 2.0)

EINGEBILDET Contrary to what others have said here, the creator of Acquisition is well within his rights to ask money for his application. The Gnutella engine is covered by GPL. If it were illegal to sell products containing GPL components, then companies like Red Hat would have tanked long ago, and OS X wouldn't be nearly as good as it is. GPL requires one to make changes to source code freely available, not to give away the compiled applications for free. GPL means Bill of Rights 'free', not no-money 'free'. Aside from this, Acquisition is an amazing piece of software, exceptionally well-desinged for its purpose. Far better than Limewire, which is what you should be using if you can't cough up a few bucks. (Version 1.0)

EINGEBILDET The engine underlying Acquisition is covered under GPL, last time I checked. Check your facts. GPL doesn't mean you can't sell/make money off a product it's incorporated into. It means you have to make whatever changes or improvements you make to that code freely available as source code to the rest of the open source community. GPL says you can't 'close' the source and attempt to control who has access to the code. All the OSS companies out there, like Red Hat, would be out of business if your claims were true. EINGEBILDET so far, i'm not impressed with this software. it doesn't conform to expected OS X behavior in that a configuration utility launches at boot, and this utility is not listed or controllable as a login startup item. it appears one is stuck with this thing appearing every time the computer is booted. megazoomer | Jul 5 2006 |
EINGEBILDET The popularity of this plug-in seems to be on the rise for some reason, so I need to warn you folks of one major issue with it: This plug-in will interfere with the proper functioning of AppleScript-based apps. I've verified this (after quite a bit of frustration) with Carbon Copy Cloner 2.3 and OnyX 1.7. Some or all of their controls will not work properly if megazoomer is active. On the upside, it works great and does exactly what it claims to. I'm just not willing to go in and disable it everytime I need to use these other apps. (Version 0.3)

Application Enhancer | May 31 2006 |
EINGEBILDET I'm adding my two-bits here because I'm tired of seeing Unsanity slammed repeatedly. I have been a fan of ShapeShifter and WindowShadeX ever since they were released. I also used FruitMenu for a time. While it's true that they eat a certain amount of system resources, I have yet to see verifiable proof that they cause overall system instability. I think that's a matter of other software conflicts that are being blamed on their products. Keep in mind that all of this is on rather old machines, two Powerbooks of the Wallstreet and Pismo generations. Frankly, SIMBL plug-ins have caused me way more headaches than anything Unsanity has created. Keep your machine healthy and quit looking for a handy scapegoat. (Version 2.0)

I've never had a problem with Ape either, although I only use it to make my dock transparent. In general, it's a good idea to keep your system lean, but I don't think Ape has been any more liable for system problems than other system enhancers, at least on my machine. Default Folder, now THERE'S an app that will screw up your machine. I loved the features, but the system slowdowns were unforgivable. (Version 2.0)
