Adobe Reader
Oct 13 2009

DVH  The PDF viewer plug-in still does not appear be be compatible with Safari running in the 64-bit mode - so if you want to use Adobe Reader to view PDFs within Safari - relaunch Safari running in the 32-bit mode.

Letter Opener
Sep 12 2009

DVH  Letter Opener is a more elegant solution. Outlook/Exchange encoded attachments are just there. This is a true plug in, it's operation is transparent, and in true Mac spirit it just works.

If you are a home user and don't mind the several steps to use TNEF's Enough - that program works well. If you have to deal with a hundred emails a day and don't want to have to deal with "missing" attachments and having to move them to proper folders after decoding - Letter Opener is a faster solution. The developer has done a great job. For true "Exchange" compatibility Apple really should have this function built into Mail.

Parallels Desktop
Aug 31 2009

DVH  Update installation went smoothly. Parallels Tools updated Win XP SP3 with no difficulties.

FYI Apparently Parallels does not provide a direct download link for the latest update. You'll need to log into your Parallels account and they will email you a link to your download. They'll send you a trial key but if you have a permanent license key - it isn't needed.

Apple Mac OS X

DVH  Same issue here - combo updater - a very long lag "running install script" at the end. Takes forever. Be patient. Otherwise no issues.

Cookie Dog X
Mar 25 2009

DVH  Cookie Dog has not been updated in a while and seems to have a problem parsing certain cookies. This can result in a corrupted cookie file. (Safari 3 & 4). Safari then creates a new cookie file.

Suggest looking at Cocoa Cookie which seems to work fine (Safari only) and allows locking and editing cookies.

Parallels Desktop
Sep 13 2007

DVH  Currently single core - Parallels has indicated dual core support is coming. Real world is that Parallels & Windows XP run very well on current generation Macs and I don't expect to see much of a usable difference with the apps I use when dual cores are supported. (Browsers/Office apps/Quicken) Gamers may have a different spin...
