DRKILMER Downloaded it, and it said it would not perform the update because my hard drive was not formatted in an acceptable format. Do I REALLY need to reformat my hard drive so I can install this? What a PITA. (Version 1.2)

DRKILMER Perhaps the lamest app I have ever purchased. Whay a waste of money. There is no built in comics formatting ... this is just a listing program. There's no way I would have bought this had I been able to see it first. Useless. (Version 1.0)

DRKILMER Jeez. For many years I've implemented every software update Apple has put out for all my machines, and I've never run into any big problems. This one, as usual, worked seamlessly. (Version 2007-004)

MACUPDATE ADMIN I have had a very similar experience, no trouble since OS X 10.1, I think it was. But that post of caution about "randomly-disastrous Apple software updates", which I assume you are responding to, is valid. It may help some people avoid trouble. (Version 2007-004)

SuperDuper! | Oct 3 2006 |
DRKILMER I recently switched to Super Duper after having used Carbon Copy Cloner for quite a while. I find Super Duper to be very easy to use and it seems to do a great job for me on the 4 computers I tend to at my home. The only disappointment I have with it is that I am now unable to schedule automatic backups. Yes, I know it supposedly can be done by scheduling the computer to come on, through Energy Saver, but that does not LOG you on, and you must be logged on for it to work. I am not willing to leave my account logged on indefinitely. With CCC I was able to schedule these back ups and they worked without my having to be logged on. Oh well ... I can do manual backups I suppose. (Version 2.1.3)

DRKILMER Downloaded this on my G4 this morning. Repaired permissions prior to install. Did the install. Ran permissions again and it stalls and gives the message "Disk utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility". This problem was introduced with 6.0.2 and I was HOPING it was fixed by this version. Guess not. Others havd had this problem, too (see Macfixit articles). Vert disappointed! (Version 6.0.3)

BRADSMITH74 I had this problem as well (OS 10.3.9, iTunes 6.0.3, Disk Utility 10.4.4). The (less than ideal) workaround is to drag the iTunes application out of the Applications folder and put it somewhere else (like on the desktop) while you run Repair Disk Permissions. Once you've finished repairing the permissions, then you can drag the iTunes application back into the Applications folder. (Version 6.0.3)

JCTULL Let me test this on another machine. It worked fine when I tested on my own system prior to release last night. (Worked fine on my other machine from 2.5.9 to 2.6.0 with 25 recipes.) Try doing a manual import from the File menu. You should have an exported version in your Library from a prior update. I do recommend you always run a manual export prior to running an updater, but I am real sorry about your data loss. (Version 2.6)

Ran permissions again and it stalls and gives the message "Disk utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility". I see there is info at Macfixit that this problem seems to have happened to others, particularly with OS 10.3.9. Never had trouble with software update before. I'm not happy. (Version 6.0.2)

DRKILMER Been using MTR for a while now with Popcorn and it mostly works just great. Only problem is that the discs I burn sometimes will not play on other computers or on some set top DVD players. I burned a disc of Smallville Season 1 and it worked great on my mac and on my set top player, but on a friend's PC it is extremely choppy and unviewable. On my Mom's set top unit it doesn't show any video at all. I've had similar results with other DVD's. THoughts? (Version 2.6.6)

I repaired permissions, installed te combo upgrade, and repaired permissions again on each. All upgrades went flawlessly! Apple Security Update | Jan 30 2005 |
DRKILMER A little story about proper maintenance and bad Apple updates. My B&W is, I think, maintained quite well. Still, this Security Update hosed my Mail and Safari programs. OK ... let's assume it was due to poor maintenance. So I get a "new" Sawtooth G4. It was upgraded to a G4 800, and a Maxtor 60GB drive was added alongside the stock Apple 10GB. There were no other mods. There are no firewire devices plugged into it. The keyboard is plugged into a USB port (stock Apple keyboard). The disks were initialized. I installed OSX, repairing permissions, etc. No problem, it ran just great. I installed this security update and now Mail and Safari will not launce. There's no WAT improper maintenance (or weird software, or anything else) can be blamed for this. It's very simple ... this security update hosed my apps. Wouldn't it be nice if all these people with superior attitudes would make constructive criticisms rather than just making a$$es out of themselves over and over again? (Version 2005-001)

DRKILMER OK ... guess I spoke too soon. Not long after installing 10.3.7 I began having problems. Started booting as Canadian once in a while for some reason, requiring hard reboot. Fixed that (I think), but I still have a problem with my disk icons taking around 2 MINUTES to show up on the desktop when I sign in. Doesn't happen every time. Anybody got a clue? Obviously I don't. DUDE IN CANADA I agree. Not only is everything a little slower, but my hardware is experiencing problems. My Epson scanner software needed reinstalling and my Epson printer and HP Laser printers are also printing grainy. Maybe CUPS is having a problem. FRANZ for the first dude... try: (while restarting) press this keys and keep it until you earing a couple of "starting-sounds" APPLE + ALT + P + R. This key combination reset your "Parameters Ram" and force your machine to re-cognize your hardware/modifications (ex, when you put a new memory RAM...). Its an APPLE TIP! Later, you need check (in Systems Prefs) your "Account" and the Startup Items... or some "third part" control panel/application... (disable if neccessary and test) Delays in startup time/Finder startup, 90% are for "extra configs" or "extra app/control panels"... Greetings from Chile... (Version 10.3.7)
