OPETER  Yes it is.

With my 2 GHz Mac mini (2009), Geforce 9400, and 4 GB RAM, I have sometime stops and I had to change it to 800x600 resolution to be somehow playable, everyhting set to low (you have 3 options - low, medium and high settings), high quaility textures turned off and also no anti-aliasing.

You can press the Command+Enter to play in window (thats what I always do, since, the resolution is not that much).

For this cider port I recommend you, that you have a Geforce 8800 or better, to play it at decent framerates and at bigger resolutions. Also, the CPU is better, if it is more than 2 GHz.

PERRYL  Yes, I concur. On my 2.66 Ghz MBP unibody with 9600m GT the game is barely playable at 720p and medium settings. Long pauses when special effects load. This is in 10.5.

Yet the game runs very well in Boot Camp. :(

I am going to try 10.6 as the I have the upgrade disk.

THAJEZTAH  Actually, it works fine on my iMac on OS X 10.6, but probably that's because I'm running on 32 bit. A 64-bit version would be welcome to prevent alerts in system preferences

DRAELREN  "Transcode MP4 tracks to DRM-free formats"

"This M4P to MP3 Converter converts unprotected music and DRM protected iTunes music"

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.......

40 bucks for a program that does... well, nothing except lowering quality of your music (re-encoding does that)... rofl, hahah, lol

Get EasyTunes instead, it's free, no re-encoding, does what it advertises, removing drm.

DOOBIEXX  easytunes is not free and not a great app at that. ET has as many stars as this app, one. There are better tools out there that are free. Go through mu's audio section and you will find what it is you need. No app does everything so when you see that claim I would recommend immediately rethinking even downloading the application let alone paying for crippled software. Do your homework, read, but don't buy into reviews like the one above. Easytunes is not good in my opinion and not free but actually ($10.) Take these reviews lightly, any joe can post whatever they please. That's how we have these three useless reviews.

DRAELREN  For everyone thinking about trying that online game.. better think twice about it.

By the time you get a hang on it you slowly realize that this game is overridden with:

1. Bots, which level up to 70 in a few months (you'll need at least a year to get near 60), which then are used for war against you or sold to people)

3. People using altered game clients which gives them huge advantage over you. (yes, NCSoft is indeed very soft on those)

3. ...which shouldn't be even on the american servers (this is no racism) because they bypass ip blockades (those are there to block people which actually have their own servers in their country).

DRAELREN  Ahhh how i've missed NCommander... Good to see something similar on mac now. I really can't remember what features old NCommander had but.. this app is a helpful gem.

And damn those zealots like ZO219: His/her comment isn't even worth being called a comment, rather a troll post. Norton Commander was just a program for Windows, being coded from, you guessed it, Norton, not Microsoft.

Safari is not completely without bugs... This can happen at any site that offers downloads in a format that causes this. how about you look for solutions first before come always crying to the developer?

as the page fills with code, copy&paste the url above into your download window of Safari.

DRAELREN  Utterly useless if you're someone with a unusual music taste. Why? You can't add other radio stations to the list. At all times i can find maybe 1 or 2 gothic stations for example, which play trash anyway.

LAME

DRAELREN  as anonymous below said already, the unchanged itunes-lame uses a old compile.

get this http://www.rarewares.org/files/mp3/Lame-3.97.dmg and copy the content into itunes-lame/contents/resources and you should notice a nice speed boost.

CronniX
Jun 18 2006

DRAELREN  From the dev's website:

Is CronniX compatible with OSX 10.4 "Tiger"?

Yes.

But :)

It dawned on me after people started asking about the maintenance tasks that there can be different views on what compatibility means. I guess most people will agree that a program is compatible if it doesn't crash and generally behaves as expected, or as it did before.

Now, from my point of view, CronniX is a program that helps configure crontabs and it still does that on Tiger. I can edit and schedule tasks as before. It is compatible.

Some of you, however, associate the maintenance tasks with cron/CronniX. Lots of people seem to use CronniX to reschedule the maintenance tasks on 10.3 and earlier. But in Tiger Apple has moved the maintenance tasks to a new scheduling system, launchd, and for those people CronniX does not work in the sense anymore that it allows rescheduling of these tasks. From this point of view CronniX is not compatible with Tiger.

PSEUDO TASUKI  Tiger introduced a new scheduling daemon called launchd which handles those tasks. Cron is still part of the system, however, for compatibility.

I recommend the application Lingon for editing launchd tasks.

iDefrag
Mar 18 2006

DRAELREN  It's true that osx defragments itself to a specific degree. In my case it wasn't enough. My system was installed for 1 1/2 year and hd was getting almost full several times. iDefrag showed many file fragmentations and files were spread around the whole hd leaveing whooping 27.000 free space fragments. And if osx can't write its vm in one piece it can be a performance break. Defragmenting the hd so all the free space was available as one piece speeded up my system noticeable. A very nice feature is that it puts system files to the front and not mix it with the rest of the data on the hd.

ps: To all the lamers who just say that osx doesn't need to be defragmented only because they heard it somewhere... GO EDUCATE YOURSELF. It's the same like only going to McDonalds and saying it's the best, never trying out others like BurgerKing. Some people need it, some don't. So please all you lamers, save your stupid comments if you think/researched that you don't need your hd to be defragmented.

It's a great app. works beautiful in 10.3.9 and 10.4.5.

That would be the reason #1 for me to get a new intel mac, playing pc games like with wine on linux.

DRAELREN  I'm glad i've checked the forum site of Flip4Mac before buying...

This software is EARLY BETA stage at best. To me it seems almost criminal to charge money for a product which doesn't do what it advertises, ie. playing all wmv9 files.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS UNTILL IT REALLY PLAYS ALL WMV FILES!!! Chances are that 80% of your videos downloaded from 'various internet sources' won't play with this.

Again.. charging money for beta??? ARE YOU FRIGGIN NUTS???
