As for version numbers, sometimes developers mistakenly forgot to properly update the version information in the code. Please report these applications to us so that we can confirm and work with the developers to correct. You may use the "Set version to current" option to override the local version number so that it will show up properly.

DP8  Please make sure that your are not blocking HTTP referrer, such as with "private browsing" or other internet security software - the download files hosted at macupdate.com require the referrer information so that we can control the huge bandwidth costs involved. DP8  The login panel has a "Register" button, which will present the MacUpdate Member Registration window - you enter in your name and email, and then on the next screen you can select "Trial" or payment method. If you already have a MacUpdate member account for the email address you enter, it will use that account for the Trial, otherwise, it will create a new Trial membership.

You can also sign up for the trial on the macupdate.com website if you already have a membership and are logged into the site.

DP8  Most likely, you are hiding or blocking the referrer when you are browsing (various security programs enable this for "private" browsing).

In order to download apps hosted on MacUpdate servers, they need to come from macupdate.com domain names. So if you block the referrer URL, it can't see that and loops you back. This is to prevent extreme bandwidth costs from direct outside linking.

Try disabling the referrer blocking - or contact me desktop@macupdate.com and I will be glad to help you out.

DP8  Thank you for your feedback - we will be adding a scheduled background check option in future update, along with a host of other features and refinements.

As for titles not matched - there could be a few reasons why they didn't - A) we are not tracking them currently - please submit them to us for review, or B) there is no way to acquire or download them independently (like Photo Booth), or the developer does not offer updates (like Apple has never had a stand-alone Photo Booth updater) or C) MacUpdate Desktop was unable to automatically match the title for some reason. You can either submit to us from within the application, or send me an email - desktop@macupdate - if you just have a list of apps.

I have responded to a few people who commented on this thread and am not sure why they keep posting inaccurate information here.

MacUpdate is a well established leader in Mac software tracking - we have been around for over 12 years, and respond to all support requests that come in as fast as we can.

If you have paid for a membership, you simply need to log into the application using your member email and password - there is no separate registration number or code.

DP8  Watch Lists are similar to a normal playlist in iTunes, except that they automatically are synchronized with your account on macupdate.com - so when you are on the site, you can also add new applications to your Watch Lists from there, and then in MacUpdate Desktop, you can install them with one click. DP8  "Set to Current Version" will override the local version number reported with the current version number from MacUpdate.com. This can be useful especially when developers make a mistake and do not properly update the version information when they release a new version. When this happens, MacUpdate will continually report the app as out-of-date, even when it is actually the latest. We work closely with developer to try to get them to fix their errors, but this is a stop-gap solution for our users.

How to "Unset Current Version"? - there is no reason to unset - if a newer version comes out, it will be reset and updated to hopefully the new correct version number, unless the developer makes a mistake again.

DP8  The Bodega application is nice, but is nothing like MacUpdate Desktop - it does not show all of your applications (only the ones it "knows about", it does not show Widgets, Screen Savers, or Pref Panes. It also does not have anything like Watch Lists, and does not automatically install your updates for you with one click (it only downloads). It also does not come close to being able to identify and match what MacUpdate Desktop can. Simply put, the apps have different purposes and uses - they are primarily selling you new applications, while we are trying to help Mac users keep their apps up-to-date. Please give it try.

DP8  That widget does work pretty well (we worked closely with the developer of it to make sure it didn't abuse our servers), but it does not match what MacUpdate Desktop can do when locating new updates, nor does it automatically install them or help you manage your watch lists.

You do not need a paid account the see your serial numbers. This is the whole reason we create the free account for you when you purchase the promo or bundle - so that you can retrieve your serial numbers at a later date.

You don't see the Voila info on your payments page, because you have two memberships - please log in using your CALLAGGA membership, and you will see it there.
