DOUGADAMA  Maybe this isn't the place for it but charging for these minor updates is frigging offensive. Roxio isn't the only offender here. Today I see that Filemaker is offering a "new version" for $149.00. Fortunately with many of these program you can skip every third or forth upgrade. In that regard, I'm still using Toast 7 and it works well on 10.5.6, as does Filemaker 8.5, and SOHO 6, etc, etc ... I spend way too much money on software as it is. We are fortunate that there are some darn good companies out there such as Econtechnologies among many others that have been offering significant upgrades free to registered users (Chronosync v.4, was also released today). I sure don't mind supporting software developers like these!

DOUGADAMA  Yes too be fair synchronization does work better but it would be nice to see more synchronization options other than Mobileme. Omnifocus sets the bar in this regard. I should say that I find myself using this software much more than I anticipated (sans synchronizing) and I think it is better than much of the competition (Yojimbo/Eaglefiler/etc).

For synchronizing simple notes and to do lists across computers/platforms I use Evernote and for heavy duty filing I rely on Devonthink (now in 2beta). I find I use Together at home daily as dropbox for collecting and tagging files for filing later. For this I think it is the best software going.

Journler

****.

DOUGADAMA  This program has so much potential as a file organizer, information manager and note taking/journaling software. It is functions like a hybrid between MacJournal(http://www.marinersoftware.com/) and Together (http://reinventedsoftware.com/together/) and in many ways is superior to both. It has much nicer interface than either, you can embed files with in each other (unlike together), and handles links, images and other file types better than Macjournal.

Having said all that it does not offer synchronization (which MacJounal does well and Together doesn't do well) and it could improve it's file structure. Currently it store it files in obscurely numbered folders in your Documents folder. Unfortunately because of these 2 short comings I still rely on the other programs mentioned for journal and information management. However, as mentioned in my opening sentence this program has a great potential and look forward to seeing it evolve.

***..

DOUGADAMA  This product is merely ho hum. Synchronization is poorly implemented and buggy, the program is sloooow to import and the interface is nothing revolutionary. Like other projects in this category (Yojimbo/Eaglefiler/Journaler) there is a lot of potential and room for improvement.

STEVE HARRIS  I didn't notice this until posting the 2.2.4 release but for the record, version 2.2.3 fixed the problem with slow imports in 2.2.2 and, thankfully, I haven't heard of any MobileMe syncing issues since Mac OS X 10.5.6 was released.
