MenuCalendarClock iCal

DOLPHINBOY2U  Same here. It grabbed all remaining RAM (was using 2.7 GB and climbing), and slowed everything to a glacier pace. MenuCalendarClock has lived in my menu bar for several years, so I'm a fan of it, but this particular version has big problems. Maybe your MMV. I'm on 10.5.8

DropCopy

****.

DOLPHINBOY2U  I've loved and depended on this app for a couple of years now; it's an essential part of my network's wellbeing. It's simple, streamlined, and accomplishes a much-needed function. And the file transfer sound effects are great!

HOWEVER, new releases of DropCopy too often have the frustrating trait of being inaccessible via dock, menu bar or any other means. Yes, I can click-and-drag the icon around the desktop, but there's no way to access DropCopy's preferences. It is within its preferences that the checkbox exists to Hide Dock Icon.

Apparently, v1.5.8 is preselected with Dock icon hidden, so there's no way to get to its preferences to choose otherwise. I've had to revert to an archived copy of v1.5.7, because v1.5.8 is literally unusable. (I've had to skip several release versions in the last year because of this issue.)

Another irritation (though not a deal-killer like the one above) is that the download destination preference seems to frequently get "borrowed" from this setting on the other network machine, and thus if I don't catch it and reset it, the transfer says it was delivered, but in fact never arrives. But I've learned to check this setting first if files don't show up where they're supposed to.

Having said that, I still consider DropCopy crucial to management of the Macs on my network. I just wish I could give it five stars,...

eRadio

DOLPHINBOY2U  Yes, this is a very good widget and all, but really, we (the users) need to be able to add and subtract radio stations and locations ourselves.

It's not appealing to have to send the dev. a request every time I find a station I like, so he can recode it and redistribute it, -- way too cumbersome. And I'm not about to dinker with the HTML source code myself.

Other radio widgets allow user customizability, please consider adding this feature, Mr. Lawton,...

ERADIO  Thanks for your useful feedback. I am working on the possibility to add your own radio stations in the upcoming version of eRadio. Do you have any other suggestions?

Web Snapper
Feb 15 2007

DOLPHINBOY2U  I love the potential of this plugin, but I had my Customize Address Bar menu item disable, as well. I emailed the developer today (2/14/2007), and received this reply from him within a few hours (which has resolved the problem for me):

=======

Do you perchance have SafariStand installed on you machine? We've discovered recently that there's an incompatibility between SafariStand and Red Snapper on some user's machines. We're working with the developer of SafariStand to come up with a fix for this problem. For now, temporarily disabling one or the other will fix the problem, and allow you to modify the toolbar.

Red Snapper can be uninstalled by removing "Red Snapper.bundle" from the "/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins" folder, emptying the trash, and restarting Safari.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you.
