Type: CommentsDate: 15 May 2008 09:49My mind is still boggling at how much time Photon saves me in my photo workflow. If you shoot or work with tons of high-res photos, you probably have a good idea of how valuable time is. And you owe it to yourself to at least demo this app. It's a magic time-making machine. Every day you're not using it is a day you're spending a little more time than you need to be sorting and culling photos. And over the course of a day, week, month, year, the vast quantities of time you save makes the license cost negligible. IMHO.

Type: CommentsDate: 6 May 2008 05:58If you click the reply to LARRYMCJ's worried post below, you'll see that he debunks his own theory. So have no fear -- YummySoup! isn't going anywhere and it's undoubtedly the best recipe software available on the Mac. Don't let anything stop you from trying the demo, as it's free and it's awesome. You will want to own a license! If you have questions or comments, the developer is amazingly open and communicative. This is the good stuff, people.

Type: ReviewDate: 7 Nov 2007 09:11I LOVE THIS SOFTWARE! And my wife does, too. I highly recommend trying it.
All the images are vetted by the developer and there's a little something for everyone.
What I like best is the sense of expectation and surprise. You never know what the next image will be. That sense of playfulness helps the work day go by faster. (I rotate every 10 minutes.)
Some other reviewers question the cost, but I feel like I get my money's worth every day. Sure, I could spend an hour looking around online for new desktops every week and have the OS cycle through them for me, but who's got that much free time? And it's much more FUN when you don't know what will be coming up next! Seriously!
I'm happy to buy into Desktotopia on the grand floor, because I think it's just going to get better as they increase the quantity and variety of images in rotation. I hope that's where they're putting their development energy right now. (If you're an artist/photographer, you can submit desktops, too!)
I'm in a proxy server environment, and I had to tweak my Mac's network settings to get things rolling, but it works fine now.
Try it. You won't regret it!

Type: ReviewDate: 4 Oct 2007 10:04LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!
It helped me through 2 weeks on a critical project in a chatty office environment. It's surprisingly customizable, making it worth more than the standard NATURE SOUNDS CDs or other meditational music. I showed my wife, and she fell in love with the CONCENTRATION music setting coupled with the CYPRUS GOATS sound effect. There is a little something for everyone. I hope they continue to update the program with additional sounds. OR even if they offered an expansion pack of sounds to buy, that would be great! I've got it running right now: the Voice, Music, Nature Sounds 2 setting is the one that helps me through the day!

Type: CommentsDate: 1 Oct 2007 00:04Do you have to have the other DEVON programs to run this one, or can this stand alone? It seems very deep. Has anyone actually tried to use it yet? I'm considering writing a book, and this could be a handy research tool...

Type: CommentsDate: 20 Sep 2007 00:04I can hardly wait to demo this at work! If it does what it claims, it may be worth a zillion, trillion dollars!

Type: CommentsDate: 11 Sep 2007 05:46My only wish is that it would convert RGB to CMYK and back, but I contacted the developer a while ago and that's not part of the plan for the program...

Type: CommentsDate: 30 Aug 2007 00:04I've demoed so many time tracking/project managing programs. I have no idea which ones are any good. I think iRatchet makes a lot of sense -- it seems the most intuitive. And I like Daylight/Billings. This one seems more stripped down. I'll give it a try!

Type: CommentsDate: 29 Aug 2007 11:01So, if I already own VisualHub and the newest Toast, is there a compelling reason to purchase this version of Popcorn?

Type: CommentsDate: 10 Aug 2007 00:04I just bought CDFinder to catalog 50 DVDs worth of work files, and it works like a charm. Does anyone know whether this program offers any benefits over a program like CDFinder that's been around the block a few times?

Type: CommentsDate: 6 Aug 2007 05:58Wow. We must ALL have acquired Intaglio in the Bundle! Still, a free demo is always nice!

Type: CommentsDate: 3 Aug 2007 15:29I bought this years ago, and have enjoyed both the Marine Aquarium and the Goldfish version. It makes a great gift for a friend or in-law (done that a few times, too). Yes, it's just eye candy, but isn't it AWESOME!

Type: CommentsDate: 26 Jul 2007 11:55The Developer Has Spoken! MacUpdate purchasers (like myself) QUIT WHINING! You're being taken care of! (and you know... they're under NO OBLIGATION to give us free upgrade licenses... they're doing it because it's GOOD customer service and generates goodwill! BRAVO!)

Type: CommentsDate: 24 Jul 2007 06:10I haven't tried the demo yet. I wonder how it's different than Adobe Kuler or Color Schemer. Adobe Kuler is web-based and free... that's pretty hard to beat.

Type: CommentsDate: 3 Jul 2007 00:13The screenshots look pretty solid. I'll definitely try the demo. I am in desperate need of organization at every level of my daily life. I've tried demos for several personal info managers, but nothing's really stuck with me. Maybe this is the level of simplicity I need!

Type: CommentsDate: 27 Jun 2007 09:11Did Apple discuss what's changing in Preview for 10.5? They're up to their usual tricks of hand-picking the best ideas from assorted small developers for improvements to the Desktop/Finder. I wonder if they'll make Preview more robust.

Type: CommentsDate: 20 Jun 2007 01:00I love Overflow, and it looks like Apple does, too. (Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, etc.) I'll probably test this software. It sounds like organization I need. But like other posts, I wonder if Leopard will trump all the shareware apps this fall.

Type: CommentsDate: 18 Jun 2007 04:01I've tried the demo before and I've been meaning to buy it for ages! Simple and helpful and dirt cheap!

Type: CommentsDate: 13 Jun 2007 13:26I've been enjoying Overflow every day for months, and Judging by the revamped Dock in Mac OS 10.5 (check out the videos on Apple.com), it looks like Apple really liked Overflow, as well! It remains to be seen how well Apple implements their version and whether this original Overflow will become redundant after everyone migrates to OS 10.5... Any thoughts?
