CrashPlan
Jul 28 2009
*****

DJC0  Started looking for an online backup solution over a year ago. Competing products never really worked smoothly and i always seemed to have trouble. CrashPlan, on the other hand, worked perfectly from the first install. Their customer service has consistently been both prompt and helpful whenever i've had a question or feature request.

This is a great program/service that i *highly* recommend.

DJC0  Great! Thanks!

FYI, your homepage link above should be updated to http://www.digitician.com.au/. And the download link grabs 0.96.2, not 0.95.

BusySync
Apr 30 2009

DJC0  I have an iMac, and Air and an iPhone. I have BusySync installed on the iMac and use MobileMe to keep all my iCal's in step. Hence i only need one BusySync license.

True, i needed MobileMe to do this (at ~$99/year), but there are a number of cheap or free ways to sync iCal calendars to give the same effect. The beauty of BusySync is that it syncs between **Google Calendar and iCal**, something that's much harder to do without grief.

And BusySync has done this seamlessly, for me at least. I'm very happy to have purchased it, and i highly recommend it.

AcidSearch

DJC0  From Terminal.app, (in /Applications/Utilities) type:

sudo rm -rf /Library/Application\ Support/SIMBL/Plugins/AcidSearch.bundle/

... should do it.

DJC0  Doesn't seem to work under Leopard ... at least for me.

Would be nice if the developer could update the package with appropriate instructions.

Great idea though! Have been looking for something like this for a while.

DJC0  Loved this under Tiger. Doesn't seem to show iCal calendars in Leopard.

Any chance of an update?

DJC0  Boy i hate it when someone releases a new version with no information as to what has been updated. Either here at macupdate or on their own site.

So why should i update if my current version works fine? Please tell me!

GMAPPER  The main difference that I can see in the latest version is that you now get a nag screen with a mandatory 10 second delay and a demand to pay $12.99.

Saft
Nov 15 2007

DJC0  So is this actually "Saft for Leopard", or "Saft for Safari 3"? If the former, then where is the latter for those of us who haven't upgraded yet?

The developers website gives a Tiger version that is not compatible with the latest Safari "system update" version.

DJC0  This is a great program and does exactly what i want: project how long it will take me to pay down my multiple credit cards with different repayment plans and changing financial situation. I know it does a whole lot more, but for now thats enough for me. Seeing the "I'm free!" date and how much interest i've saved is a great motivator to stay on track and even put in a little more when i can.

I had a small problem and emailed the developer. He repsonded within the hour (and it was a public holiday!), and within the week had posted a new verson correcting the issue. That kind of service is worth the meager price alone! (Anyone who has ever gotten bad service knows this all too well!)

Highly recomended for those who want tighter control over their debt.

DJC0  Any reason why it's taking up 50-70% of my CPU? This is not just while starting up or scanning. I had it build a playlist and it's been playing for over 1/2 an hour.

It seems to work great otherwise.

E.NORRIS  The initial startup is ab it cpu intensive as we read in the information about the tracks you own and talk to the server. We are looking into it.
