DEREK.KEPNER  Hi Tim,

Coke's system is a bit harder to figure out, but I'm looking into it. In the meantime, I believe Coke offers a widget for the Yahoo/Konfabulator engine.

DEREK.KEPNER  It's much faster to load the widget than it is to load Amazon's flash-littered Pepsi Stuff site.

You only have to login once in Safari. If you're already logged it, it saves a step by not having to login again through my widget. And, it eliminates the question of "should I trust this widget with my Amazon account information?"

PLUTO198  The developer posted this on his blog:

"I’m vastly overcommitted in terms of work right now, and things need to be prioritized. Camino (and OmniWeb, for that matter) are simply used by too few people. Safari is the dominant browser on the platform, so smart time management says I should focus on that. If you’re using Camino, you should stay with the last 2.6 release that supported it."

iClip Lite Widget

PLUTO198  Version 2.0 is very buggy. Sometimes when first loaded, it only shows 3 "wells" even though the widget is sized to show 5. But when you scroll over there are more wells after the 2 empty spots.

Also, sometimes when you mouseover a disabled button it lights up and becomes enabled. (when there is nothing in a well, you can click the delete clip button.)

Nothing major, just letting you know.

PLUTO198  Every time I try to open 3.0b1... it shows the loading image for awhile then the Finder says it "unexpectedly quit."

Deleted all iStat pro/nano plist files, problem still persists.

MARC EDWARDS  This has been a massive rewrite. Please bare with us!

If you have time then please clear your console (Applications/Utilities/Console), run the widget, then after it crashes send the console output to us via email with your computer model and OS version.

Cheers.

PLUTO198  What is everyone's problem with Apple's Finder? Everyday I see a new "Finder-substitute" on here. I'll stick with the original Finder, thank you.

KIDDAILEY  Apple's OS X Finder is a bit buggy and SLOOOOW (try working with a folder of more than a couple thousand files). But by far, the most annoying feature is that it drops little .DS_STORE files in *every* folder that you open. Not a major problem when working on only your own computer solely. However, they can show up in ZIPs that you create, on FTP servers when you upload and all over network drives (unless you know how to turn network writing of the DS_STORE files off via the command line or a prefs editor).

EASER  It's been awhile since this was posted, so I'll add my own comments based on Leopard's Finder. The main problems I have with it are (1) you have to constantly adjust column view widths every single time you open a new window, and (2) you are way too limited in being able to adjust font and icon sizes. This is especially true in the new sidebar. Jeez, I'm pushing age 50, and my eyes aren't what they used to be. That stuff is teeny tiny and a major strain to see.

I personally prefer PathFinder among all of the browser alternatives. It addresses both of the concerns I raised above. It does use a reasonable number of resources and may seem a bit slower on older systems. I have a MacBook pro with full RAM, so that hasn't been an issue for me. Once I played with it for awhile, I found that it had so many useful features, I could never go back to the original Finder. (Having tabbed windows in PF is also a much nicer alternative to having too many open Finder windows.)

As for XFolders itself, it seems a nice program. But if you want a really good dual-pane program, look into either ForkLift or DiskOrder. (I also have a license for that program. In my experience, you'll get far better customer support, as well as product development, from ForkLift.)

PLUTO198  Password Retriever is made with REALbasic. It will not be available as a universal binary until REALbasic supports it. It has nothing to do with Koingo being lazy.

ROBERT  The Orphan Preferences feature is ridiculous. I have 1476 such "orphaned" preferences on my system, and any cursory glance of them shows many preferences that are definitely not orphaned.

Even the first screenful of them reveals Mac OS X's own .GlobalPreferences as "orphaned" and invites you to delete it.

CleanApp is better than other apps in this category, but even with that one, it's best if you know what you're doing.

PLUTO198  I'm pretty sure Statoo 1.0 was released before Dashboard.

As I understand it, Statoo displays the "capsules" on your desktop all of the time, where Dashboard only displays your "widgets" when a hotkey is pressed.
