DAVIDSWELT Folks, do not use the option that allows you to strip PPC code from Universal Binaries to save space on your Intel machine. This feature is seriously flawed, as it deleted system resources that are important and needed whenever applications are run under Rosetta. In my case, Excel stopped working with certain files, and I couldn't synchronize (hotsync) my Palm any more (it's a PPC application). I had to manually debug this (Console) reinstall a number of files from my backup (mostly /System/Library/Printers and /System/Library/Extensions and God knows what). This would probably have been too difficult for many users, and they would have had to reinstall OS X. Until this piece of software has been updated to stay away from /System files, I recommend not using the "strip universal binaries" function. (Version 1.3.7) |
