DAVEYOLA  an awesome first release!!!

my dream feature: in the spirit of facebook, an inline hover to 'hide' certain users on the fly with an option for 'just now' or 'forever' - and possibly the ability to hide by mark (e.g. when floods of folks are doing an #follow on a topic - so hide that topic from the stream....

DAVEYOLA  i love imagelobe - it is drop dead simple to use and to be honest, i've actually stuck with the free version which limits you to small images only (circa 300k) because i've basically been using it to manipulate photobooth pics and small screencaptures to repost on photo sharing sites

many of the effects are similar to those in the ichat addons pack that folks use, but unlike those addons, you do NOT need to install anything else - you just unpack imagelobe, launch it and then drag in a little pic - beatifully integrated with the mac and works like a charm...very fast on my mbp

also, i have yet to crash this app - maybe it blows up with huge images, but i have not yet been able to make it blow up...

DAVEYOLA  been using this since the preview was tossed into macupdate bundle last year and i love it - been through many feature updates - but sadly, i just can't imagine asking people for 50 bucks for this app, let alone in this market

i wish the dev great success launching such an incredible productivity app, will likely buy it myself for full fare - but i strongly suggest introducing discounted pricing for students as well as a reduced standard price (e.g. 30ish bucks, something in that range)

just a thought...there are soooo many GTD apps out there, and the hardcore users are already fully invested (emotionally and financially) in some other application or process - you are already facing a real switching cost before the money even comes up!

as for new GTD types, this will just feel like an awesome but expensive tool for something which they may not yet understand and so have difficulty justifying (as purchase)...

perhaps a "lite" version down the road? without (for example) some core features like mail integration or ical integration?

SimpleMovieX

DAVEYOLA  i LOVE this app. i don't understand why anybody would buy quicktime pro when you could get simplemovieX and also download (now free/opensource) the old techspansion visual hub for conversions...

i have had zero issues cutting out segments, it just works, every time.

things i'd like to see?

1) something like qipo (app for mac) - print the 'contact sheet' as an image (e.g. you see the box of thumbnails for auto-cuts, but why can't i just print it as a big jpg or whatever, like a storyboarding tool???)

2) workflow integration: eg. select an app for post trim/edit conversion, like visualhub or whatever, just like a link to 'post process as mp4 with *app*

otherwise it is really nice, thank you!

DAVEYOLA  this worked PERFECTLY as of 12/8/08 on version 1.1.1 - photos synched up and correctly ignored the ones i told it to ignore, and it pulled in all sorts of birthdays...

the only bummer - and this has got ZERO to do with the dev - if a contact is set to show only a birthday without a year, as many folks do, then all of them come up as 2008

perhaps the ability to change that to -minus 15 or 20, assuming most facebook users are at least 15 or 20 years old??

DAVEYOLA  20 dollars for something that i can already do for free from within iphoto, im, email and other free apps? you need to seriously rethink this product - considering that skitch is free and provides hosting on top of core tool, you may want to consider freemium at the very least if you plan to have more than 2 or 3 thousand users...perhaps you could simply show text ads in a free version and let users buy them out for 10 dollars?

Word Magic
Nov 20 2008

DAVEYOLA  before i switched to the mac, i spent years using a special tool for windows called wordweb - did some incredible things and i've spent the past 2 years looking for a comparable Mac replacement - and THIS IS IT!!!

wordmagic is simple, moron-proof, zero errors and works as advertised.

in my case, i do a lot of writing and so i like to explore creative permutations beyond simple thesaurus stuff...and i love anagrams!

however, i know several friends who use tools like this to register domains - for example, when the european union opened up the .eu TLD, several friends pinged me asking for me to run searches with wildcards ending in ***eu to get clever names (cordonbl.eu etc)

thanks for such a simple tool! demo floored me, will be purchasing within hours...
