DAVEU I've been an avid user for more than a year and have donated to the project more than once. But once 3.0 came out, I can no longer use this. When using a table, 5 rows are added to the bottom of the table every time I Save and Close. Suddenly I was printing blank pages and discovered all of these ghost rows that went on to another page. So I opened the document in Word and all of my work was completely gone. Erratic behavior mixed with Word users unable to view my documents, means I can't use it. I'll miss you NeoOffice. I hope you come back to your senses soon. (Version 3.0)

KABING Remember that you can always go back to version 2.2.5 of NeoOffice. Also, it would be very helpful if you could report the issues you are having: https://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=7 The developers are very active in the forums and work hard to fix the kind of issues you have experienced. If they detemine that the problem is related to the underlying OpenOffice.org code, there may not be much they can do. But if it something they can fix, they will do so quickly and release a patch. Either way you'll get a clear answer. (Version 3.0)

DAVEU i love the idea of this app and the developers seem supercool. however, i simply can't use it. for my work, we use word doc scripts with headers that contain company information. And then the content itself is in a table. however, this app cannot properly open word docs. the header is down at the bottom like a footer and the content is on top, and if it goes to a econd page all heck breaks loose. i test it with every update, and it's never been able to open word docs properly. if they ever get true word compatibility, it could become my everyday app. (Version 4.7)

DAVEU i highly recommend going to school for network administration for a few years before attempting to use this. i've spent hours and hours trying to make this work and i'm not one iota closer to figuring out why it's not working. so much for a gui interface making things easier. seriously, not for the casual user. okay... not for the experienced user either. i think it's only for the expert with loads of time on his hands and a lot of patience. otherwise, prepare to be annoyed. Perian | Oct 20 2008 |
DAVEU I've always been confused by this... I have other QT Plug-ins that do some of these formats. Does this override them? Or will there be conflicts? Do I need to uninstall others? Do I pick which formats it uses and doesn't? Seems very ambiguous. (Version 1.1.2)

MACMELO This is nothing more than my opinion, but I prefer to have as little plugins installed as I can... So, since I use Perian, I choose not to have xvid, divx, etc... and any other plugins that can be replaced by Perian... (Version 1.1.2)

Microsoft Office 2008 | May 13 2008 |
DAVEU DO NOT INSTALL THIS IF YOU NEED TO USE THIS ANYTIME SOON. The apps will no longer launch after updating. You will just be caught in auto-updater purgatory anytime you try to launch an app. I foolishly tried to update in the middle of my work day. And now I am screwed. Thanks, MS. Awesome. Adobe Media Player | Apr 10 2008 |
DAVEU This is one of the most un-Mac-like apps I've ever installed on my computer. Even the installer is from it's own universe and installs directly from the web yet somehow takes transparent advantage of Installer. Not to mention Little Snitch pops up to connect to almost 20 different server connections just for the install. I don't understand why Adobe bothered with this version of app when the Mac market seems like a purely gratuitous effort. I kind of think they are mocking us. (Version 1.0)

DAVEU Why are apps ambiguous about Leopard support? It's out there in the wild, there is no reason that every new release of an app does not explain that it is "Leopard Ready" or "Not Leopard Ready." The release notes say nothing, and this page says nothing. (Version 1.1.2)

IGAUCHO Growl works just fine under Leopard. Even though the new release does not yet have the release notes available, there should be no problem at all. (Version 1.1.2)

CHRISTEFANO MacUpdate is not the best place to mention this (try http://growl.info/contact.php). You can see the current Leopard compatibility status at http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic.php?t=15349 (Version 1.1.2)

Netscape Navigator | Oct 15 2007 |
DAVEU The reason they don't include email is that it would be bloat. What killed Netscape to begin with was phasing out Navigator and forcing Communicator on everyone. One app trying to do everything. The majority seems to prefer keeping things a la carte. (Version 9.0)

DAVEU And I was a TextWrangler, CyberDuck, Safari guy... until now. All I can say is FINALLY! OS X has been lacking something this elegant, and comprehensive since its inception. Everytime I think a good candidate is on the way (Contribute, NVU, Sandvox), they prove under-developed, buggy, or simple template-based toothlessness. This gets it right on most every count. I bought it already. Bravo! And thank you! (Version 1.0)

DAVEU Nearly perfect! I've spent as much on programs that I ended up disappointed with or never really use. Not here. When I went looking for something like this, back in the day, the speed was terrible, framerates not good, and usabiity awkward... I was hoping that these days there was finally something out there (Universal Binary) that worked as quickly, easily, and well as this -- but expected it to cost a fortune. This was so exactly perfect I couldn't be more pleased. HAPPY. (Version 1.34b1)

Final Draft | May 9 2006 |
DAVEU I love Final Draft. Although I'm not sure if it's because I've used it for so long that it's what I've gotten used to, or if it really is a superior product. I just like the way it works. I tried shifting over to the free Celtx, but that has a lot of problems that overshadow the fancy extras. So, Final Draft has made the actual reality of writing get out of the way and just let me go, go, go. For that I'm appreciative. However, there are a few minor issues. Cursor ghosting and a fickle toolbar to name two. Nonetheless, with the arrival of relatively fast Universal Binary support, it's clear that Final Draft is going to be one of those rare companies that remembers that its Mac user base is what built its business. Wallet | Apr 25 2006 |
DAVEU I like Wallet. I like Wallet more than most. And a password/SN storage program that was fast, easy, and secure was important to me... so I tried them all. Over and over again. So many came close, but lacked this or that, took too long for this or that, etc. I even purchased PasswordRetriever and then decided to open my wallet again. Wallet was a front runner for round 2. But it lost out to the $5 cheaper Steel. I've been extremely satisfied at last -- for a full year now. Wallet's not a bad way to go, but I'd suggest you check out Steel. (Version 2.5.1)

Wallet | Apr 26 2006 |
OSXFACTOR On your suggestion, I tried Steel. It's a nice little storage app, but it doesn't have a fraction of the featureset of Wallet. It doesn't do .Mac export, it doesn't do password generation, it doesn't automatically lock the app after a certain amoutn of inactive time, it doesn't have a persistent database (meaning I have to save my data manually everytime I add something). I like the interface (very Wallet-esque), and the icon, but otherwise, Steel does about 20% of what Wallet does for 60% of the price. If $6 is going to break the bank, and you can live without all of the features above, use Steel. Otherwise, $15 is a steel for a program that does all that Wallet does. (Version 2.5.1)

Wallet | Apr 26 2006 |
DAVEU I absolutely agree about feature set. That's why I do say Wallet is a fine program for many, but it's overkill for me. I was looking for my exact balance of ease of use and the features I actually need. Something that works exactly the way I want it to... and Steel's for me. (Version 2.5.1)
