GreaseKit
Feb 22 2008

DAVEECKLUND  To manually install a script (as Safari seems to download the .js files instead of installing them): Click the "install this script" button on the webpage, find the downloaded file, drop it on Safari.

Works for me, YMMV

KIEGUY  Thank you very much for this tip on getting those .js scripts actually loaded into GreaseKit in Safari! Worked for me. Another way then leading from your tip, is, of course, to right-click on the .js file and pick "Open With" > "Safari".

I've been struggling with this issue tonight and this is the first I've seen it explained, simple as it may be.

Frustrating as I was expecting a "Load Script" button in GreaseKit's "Manage Scripts..." window...and "Add" wouldn't do a thing!!!

You'd think this essential issue would be mentioned elsewhere, either on the GreaseKit site, or on the userscripts.org forums, but not in my searches. Maybe I didn't look long enough either place, but its seems like something that should come up right away.

DAVEECKLUND  I agree that people should NOT support this application, or any of the developer's others as well. The purchase nags and licensing scheme is more invasive than ever. Remember this thing comes from open source code, and there are several other P2P programs that don't bug you as much as this one. Also look at all the complaints about the developer reneging on promised upgrades to paid users.

Current version (as of 12/14/2007) starts a ticker when it starts up... counting down to when it's going to start throttling your downloads. It also removes results from searches and puts little nag-banners in the results. The interface is nice though.

Look at Acqlite, Frostwire, or LimeWire first.

FLAMELAB  When I bought the previous version I was told it had lifetime support. Now I now I'm not the only one who got ripped.

When I asked the developer, the only response I get send me your PayPal receipt. Do tyou really think I've got a receipt from that long ago? Even PayPal has'nt got it anymore.

I've got to say. it's really good software. It's sad the developer got a bit greedy by ripping off his customers who made him big.

DAVEECKLUND  I'm thinking the reason that they don't include the binaries for the *nix tools is so they don't deliver a fully-capable "Swiss Army Copyright Infringement Machine" --and then proceed to get their respective arses sued off and/or the project shut down by the MPAA or RIAA (or insert bottom-feeding organization of your choice).

It's not that tough to get and install the binaries yourself. Plus you may learn something in the process..

Citrix ICA Client
Nov 29 2005

DAVEECKLUND  If you have having trouble connecting after updating to 10.4.3, remove the word "smartcard" from the config file "Modules" found in ~/Library/Preferences/Citrix ICA Client/.

Look for this string:

"VirtualDriver=Thinwire3.0, ClientDrive, ClientAudio, ClientPrinter, Clipboard, ClientManagement, ClientComm, ZL_FONT, ZLC, TWI, ICACTL,"

and remove the word "Smartcard" at the end.
