DZITAO  The description says that this is free, but in actuality is only shows 5 addresses for free, so because I am running parallels on my machine, that is 3 addresses right there. I have more than 5 devices on my network with printers etc. It seems to me that this software is WAY overpriced to unlock full capabilities.

DZITAO  It will be interesting to see how not offering an update price works out for FileMaker/Apple. I guess it is understandable for iWork and iLife because they were mature products, but Bento definitely does not fall into that category.

I purchased the "Family License" of v1.x with the expectation that I would be using it on multiple Macs. I have tried to use it and to like it, but because the feature set is SO limited, I've not been able to do what I hoped with Bento and have never put it on any of my other Macs. Many features that I would consider very basic are missing so I expected a new version quickly.

I'm really pretty stunned that they are not offering any kind of upgrade price at all! I mean, if they even knocked $5 off, it wouldn't feel quite so bad.

I think that because there is no upgrade incentive at all, Bento has earned a place of being DELETED off of my system instead of being updated. I have tried so hard to like and use this product, but it seems it is not to be.

DZITAO  I just tested this application and it can convert "Nelly Moser" encoded FLV files. I have not seen another Mac application that can do this. Ustream.tv uses these kind of files and VLC, VisualHub, MPEGStreamClip all can play the video but not the audio on these type of FLV files. So sorry guys, so far QuickTime Pro and VisualHub can not do what this program can do.

That being said, it does the conversion in a very strange way. When it converts, it has a small window in the very middle of your screen which stays in front of all other windows. It also does the conversion in real time. That means your hour plus FLV file will take an hour plus to convert.

I'm not sure how it does it's conversion, but if you hide the application, the annoying window in the middle of your screen goes away, BUT, the program is apparently recording that portion of your screen! When I viewed the output from the program, it converted the audio and video very nicely (the demo puts a logo in the output file) until the point where I had hidden the program. Then the output vidoo shows me surfing the web, reading my e-mail, etc. Everything that came up in that little square of the screen.

So there is good and not so good here. As for the price, I know of 2 PC programs that can make this conversion that cost about $40. The question is whether I want to pay $50 extra to have a native Mac application do this rather than fire up my Windows virtual machine and run the PC program.

I would love to find a native Mac application that can make a Nelly Moser FLV file conversion and am still looking for such an application.

DZITAO  I received an AppleScript error saying that the domain/default pair of (com.apple.iTunes, DeviceBackupsDisabled) does not exist (1).

This key did not exist in my iTunes plist file so I added it as a boolean and now your program works. You might want to add a check for the existence of this key and create it if it doesn't exist.

Great program, great idea! I'm very grateful as my iPhone backups have been taking close to an hour when syncing. Now the sync is very fast with the backups disabled. Add that one little tweak and you've got a winner!
