CTKMND I did and I tried the alternatives as well. Finally settled on Tags by Gravity Applications. Much easier, leaner and with a more reasonable price-TAG! So I still don't see the point in a whoppin' 59 dollars?! It's not like it includes a free upgrade to Snow Leopard but each to his/her own I guess. (Version 2.5.4)

CTKMND Is it possible for the mood smilies to be a little less "in your face"? I would still like to use them but I have no need to see the four ones not in use. So how about only showing the one, active mood-face next to the weekday or somewhere else less obtrusive. This would leave more visible space for my thoughts, the primary use of a diary. CTKMND $40 for streamlining a process which takes a minute or two between Safari and iTunes using drag and drop?! Seriously? Wow, I wonder what you're thinking. From what I can gather from your website, it does not even include free updates? I think you'd sell at least twice the amount of licenses if this would've been around $20. Having used Curator previously (which I've now dropped due to iT/S being easy enough) I can tell you it works excellent and it goes for $25 if anyone would still want something for quick-dropping album covers into music-files. Sorry, but I'll pass. (Version 3.2.5)

CTKMND I considered buying something like this up until I saw the pricetag... That is too much for something like this, it is more like a retail price tag but as you add the option of getting a physical disc as well that price goes up another 19 euro. Extra support even more. What does it do that warrants that tag? It buys the licenses of other applications for me as well? Lifetime updates? Sure, but i.e. LicenseKeeper is only $19 and it does what I need _today_ without robbing me. Tomorrow is always tomorrow, and in the rapid changing world of computers that is far off enough. It's rather gutsy to charge for all the great things you're going to do in the future... And if that's the case, how about a roadmap, so that we might know what the future looks like, at least in plan? I.e. if we're buying features we might need or if it's just bloat? No, thank you, I'll pass on this 'investment'. Twin and Presto is now also off my list for reasons similar. (Version 2.0.3)

CTKMND Really wish this would work like it says but seems it's just another Koingo software with weird problems... This one totally ignores anything I put in the Untouchables-panel. I don't want it scanning and showing apps that belong to the system itself which in worst case would require a reinstall of OS X i.e. those in /System/Library/CoreServices. Tried any combinations I could think of, "/System/*", "/System*" or even the exact path "/System/Library/CoreServices" - with or without trailing slash and/or wildcard. Nothing works, it totally disregards any input. So much for "Untouchables". Do you only test your software on american localization or what? How about at least give me an error dialog box... STILL it shows the applications located in CoreServices and I am also able to select them for removal... This seems rather dangerous don't you think? My main reason for using a program like this would be to ease up on the manual bit. If I have to re-read every line manually I might as well use the built-in spotlight from the start. Thank you for reading. (Version 1.0.7)

KOINGO SOFTWARE Untouchables will warn you when you try and remove them; however, there is no feature that hides untouchables after scanning. This is a good idea, and it appears there is already a registered feature request for this with a priority flag on it. It will be added in a future version. (Version 1.0.7)

CTKMND Thank you for replying! Clicking 'Scan' in Unused Preferences and nothing happens. It just sits there and there's no related activity on the hard disk as far as I can tell. It's like the command in the script isn't found or something. Is there some runtime library missing? Don't know what more to say unfortunately. Also, something I've longed for that finally showed up in the news features-section, "Downloaded App Warning" - it doesn't do anything when I try to check the box. I.E. not possible to change the state of it. Finally, the yellow box info is good but often sparse at best. A more thorough description of what happens in your system would be good in a seperate documentation. Especially in days like these... ;) Using MacPilot 3.3.1 and Leopard 10.5.7. (Version 3.3.1)

CTKMND Remove unused preferences doesn't work in Leopard... Pity since I can't find any other that does that. Documentation would be a requirement for me if I were to pay $20 for this. It's getting to big and complicated not to have it. And finally, what feature works with what system? I.e. what works in Leopard and what does not? (Version 3.3)

KOINGO SOFTWARE Features which do not work in other versions of Mac OS X are automatically hidden. We were unaware the Unused Preferences feature was broken. We will investigate this immediately. As for documentation, each preference in the General tab (over 850 features there) has a help tag associated with it (appears in the yellow bar). For which features are you looking for additional documentation? (Version 3.3)

Here's a thought, why don't you put a button in for the user to choose where to put the LaunchAgent (in User/Library or /Library, perhaps with even an explanation why the option exist in the docs)? Maybe then it would have something worth $10 above the normal freely accessible commands and options!! Until then I see no reason for anything higher than the "AppStore" $1. ;) (Version 3.1)

Keep Drive Spinning | Apr 28 2009 |
CTKMND On an external Western Digital Elements connected to an Late 2008 Unibody MacBook Pro 'pmset' doesn't work - the drive spins down regardless. So using something like this is essential. Just because it works for you, doesn't guarantee it will work for everyone else though most times it may. Oh, and btw. Checking the box in "energy settings" prefs panel sets the spindown time to 180 a.k.a. 3 hours. So, no it doesn't in truth "turn it off" but most people/computers will have some disk activity in that timeframe anyway so it's seldom discovered.

AppleJack | Apr 27 2009 |
CTKMND It does run for me under 10.5.6 except it seems like it is responsible for banging up some of my preferences when run on auto or check prefs. How does AJ validate the prefs? Is AJ or some Apple utility it calls that screws up? If you installed it previous to the 10.5.6 upgrade have you tried a re-download and re-install? It's a very good safeguard repair, especially for portables so it would sure be nice to see it updated!

BetterZip | Feb 24 2009 |
CTKMND - problem with _large_ files (in excess ~4Gb). Can't extract without errors. The file extracts fine with BOMArchive though. - can't handle temporary files properly. Double clicking a file to view it and then closing the viewer and dragging the file to the desktop brings up an extraction error. Dragging the file directly after opening the archive works ok, but not when first viewing. - weird handling of passworded rar files and it needs the original rar utility which isn't really free or included in the program fee. and other small quirks makes me look for another compression program elsewhere now. (Version 1.7.3)

ROBERT (MACITBETTER) - What format is the large file? I am not aware of any file extraction problems. - Do you drag the files from the BetterZip window to your desktop after viewing? Again, I am not aware of any problems here, more details would be really helpful. - What exactly do you mean with weird password handling? - The external rar program is only needed for CREATING rar files. Extraction is built right into BetterZip. No need for additional tools or license fees. Please check what version you have installed, because the first two problems sound like bugs that have long been fixed. (Version 1.7.3)
