COOLMEMIN  Accomplishes its job very nicely. The Yellowmug bundle is a great deal as well.

COOLMEMIN  This is a great, simple, effective application. There was a crashing problem but it was fixed almost immediately. It does its job very well and without much fluff. Incredibly easy to use.

COOLMEMIN  I second the review. Stuffit failed on some files and this did the job. Goodbye Stuffit Expander and hello RAR Expander :)

MoneyWell

COOLMEMIN  This is a great tool to manage your finances and INSTANTLY see how much money you've spent on different categories and make adjustments that will help curb your impulse spending. I have tried many different programs and if overspending is your problem, Moneywell is probably part of your solution. The developers are also very responsive and helpful and are consistently upgrading their software.

COOLMEMIN  I would just like to add, because it hasn't been quite mentioned yet, that the developer is EXTREMELY RESPONSIVE to questions. He helped me troubleshoot a problem I had through over 10 emails without losing his patience. I love this little program :)

COOLMEMIN  What can I say, this program is absolutely amazing! I have tried all of the GTD apps (Omnifocus, iGTD, ThinkingRock, Taskpaper, etc.) and none are as easy to use as this one. Even as a beta it is incredibly stable. I have not had a single crash yet. The developers are hard at work providing new features all the time. I've been using it for months now and can't wait to be able to pay them for it I love it so much. The only thing I would like is easier syncing since I have a desktop and a laptop, but they said they're working on it. Great great great program

COOLMEMIN  I bought this during the MUPromo because it looked like a great program. The idea was fantastic. I too however have found it to be quite buggy. I let the developer know a while ago and there hasn't been an update at all. If the bugs were fixed it would be great though.

Budget
May 22 2008

COOLMEMIN  I have used both budget and Moneywell and I personally prefer Moneywell. I like the bar charts it generates because it makes it easier to compare how much your spending changes month to month on different categories (buckets). Budget is a really good program too though and is very easy to use and set up. I guess its just a matter of personal preference. Try both and see which one you like.

Xtorrent

*....

COOLMEMIN  I would like to retract my previous 5 star review with some disappointment. Like many others, I am now experiencing very unstable conditions with Xtorrent. It uses a lot of CPU, and does not seed properly (meaining it will sometimes stop uploading when you're done downloading). I tried the new version of Transmission and it is a million times better. Small footprint, downloads and uploads properly and very easy to configure. The only thing it doesn't have is the search feature which isn't really that useful anyways since a lot of the times Xtorrent is banned from the trackers it finds :(

Too bad i bought the lifetimes upgrade option

COOLMEMIN  For what it does I find this little program very useful. There have been several times I can think of that being able to email a file to myself from my phone would be a life saver. I bought it at the intro price of $20 but I think $35 is a little too much for it. Good piece of software though.

COOLMEMIN  I am a Mathematics Instructor and this is one of the most useful programs I have on my computer. Absolutely perfect for making exams in Pages, using the Latexit Services and a hotkey to convert Latex to equations.

I have a question that the people here might be able to help me with. I want to make a demo on how to use Latexit for my colleagues but most of them have a PC. Is there a similar program that lets you type Latex code and it will convert it to equations? I'm assuming not but its worth a shot.

ARS  To get something similar on a PC or Mac via a web interface try:

http://www.sitmo.com/latex/

Especially as a gadget via a google personal page this works quite well.

COOLMEMIN  For what it does, it does its job extremely well. I absolutely love this program for its ease of use. The only thing I wish it had more of is options to convert in batches. The plugin Oimo partly helps but still a wonderful program. Also, in response to the comment below by JoshP. I am using it under Leopard extensively and have had no problems. Have you contacted the developer about it. He is usually very helpful in my experience.

COOLMEMIN  I absolutely love this fantastic little program. I am a Math instructor and it is incredibly easy to make graphs for lectures and exams in literally seconds, and they look great to boot! With an educational license the price is a steal too!

VMware Fusion
Dec 21 2007
*****

COOLMEMIN  I used Parallels for a while but I was never able to leave it on without it eating up my CPU for no reason. I gave VMWare a shot just for fun and what I found was a much more stable experience...so much so that I can usually leave it on all the time without noticing a decrease in performance on the mac side. I would still recommend trying both out for yourself and then decide but I'm sticking with VMware.

It also feels significantly faster.

OmniWeb

JFM  Unfortunately, I must agree. I had set for some time Omniweb as my primary browser, and I like it, but the current version is unstable, it crashes often. Sorry, I have now gone to Opera (excellent newest version), and I wait for Omniweb to improve.

Moreover, Omniweb has a tendency to slow down after a few days if one does not empty the cache manually, I have also noticed.

I have good hope that the problems will sooner or later be solved, but it is a little bit sad to see a good app going backward rather than forward with the newer versions...

COOLMEMIN  I also agree with the former comments in that Parallels has taken a wrong turn and is now very unstable. I hadn't tried VMware before but I downloaded the trial and I am a believer. It is much more stable, hasn't crashed once, whereas the new Parallels has crashed almost every time I use it. It also doesn't seem to affect the performance of OS X very much which is good. I can have them both running at the same time without feeling sluggish.

Xtorrent
Jul 22 2007
*****

COOLMEMIN  I didn't even try this program for a while because of the horrible reviews. One day, I decided to just give it a shot and I was surprised how much it simplified my torrent life compared to Azureus. I've tried Transmission(crashes all the time), Bits on Wheels(crashes and not UB). For a long time I used Azureus because it was simply the best one out there. After using Azureus for a very long time I just downloaded Xtorrent to give it a shot and immediately made the switch and bought the lifetime upgrade license. It is incredibly easy, fast, the search feature is absolutely awesome, and does not use up nearly as many resources as Azureus.

I don't know why all the hate comments but no problems with this product here.
