COOKIE08  Hi Dev

Me Too I like the program but unusable due to lags and slow to response. I have a dual G5 1.8 8 gig ram should be plenty fast enough other html programs are fast. Even iWeb with 80 web pages most are video files is not suffering this response.

I have written to the dev before about this.

Other wise this could be fantastic.

SOHO Organizer
Sep 30 2009

COOKIE08  I am still in Leopard G5 dual. I had already removed all vestiges of any old version of SOHO the open databases in the frameworks folder etc. I had been using Contactizer pro which is excellent but a bit overkill. Made sure the iCal and address book were synced with Contactizer then removed it and and its files using CleanApp. Rebooted then installed SOHO.

Let it sync with the iCal and AddressBook and then started using it and it is working very well the new data base there using seems to be robust no multiple entrys etc syncs back to iCal and Mail straight away reads the emails lists in a pane from Mail as soon as you click on an entry in the address module you can click on any mail entry mail starts and opens the email all very smooth at last!!!

Even though I prefer to use DevonThink Office pro brilliant program the fact that Chronos are bring out a note program for the iPhone will be interesting as it is supposed to sync with soho notes which could be very handy!

SOHO Organizer
Sep 27 2009

COOKIE08  I am trying this V8 again and finding that the bugs are gone and the program is as quick as Contactizer pro and much more mac os like like using an extended iCal with integrated address book. So far it syncs really well no problems syncs direct with mobile me well also.

The other bonus is the print essentials the great label printing app and notes thrown in as well.

After three days use I am now fully using SOHO Organizer as the replacement for iCal and address book.

iClipboard
Sep 27 2009

COOKIE08  I am trying this out again and I must say this is working really well it is fast similar in concept to iClip 4 but way faster and more responsive with a clean interface. The price is not that much different to say copypaste pro a $20 dollar upgrade. Have found it very stable no pauses even when copying very large clips on a Leopard G5 1.8 dual 7gig ram

DEVONthink Pro
Aug 6 2009

COOKIE08  if you care to right click on the devonthink data base in your home documents folder open it and all the individual files are held inside the data base which is great as you can move this between computers and use the same set of files. Nothing is lost when you delete the original program sound like you have never used one of the best programs for the mac.

Saving web files straight to devonthink keeps there html links so you can go back original site from inside devonthink

Fontcase

COOKIE08  True all. Suitcase has the option not to touch any font folder you chose. It will leave the fonts in the place ie user/library/fonts if this is the way you prefer to work.

Cheers

COOKIE08  Sounds like you are not using suitcase properly. it will only only activate sets in certain folders when you tell it to. I have no fonts in the fonts folders of library or the user font library. I just let suitcase load the start up fonts I need at boot time another others are auto activated as needed or any new ones i manually activate through suitcase. this gives the minimum needed to run the computer. The system library fonts are never touched.

COOKIE08  I have found the new copypaste pro great in leopard have it in several systems works as advertised. I think it is the only one with a proper contextual menu in any app which is one of the best features for power users. You don't have to move the mouse for miles to access a menu bar dropdown.

For those having problems it may be due to some other incompatible extension or Hackie running.

Cheers

M COOKE  Been using this way back since ver 2 on the ATARI still better then Word in many ways the layout of a proper DTP program with the ease and speed of text handing with proper micro spacing text in any direction etc makes work look sick in comparison when mixing text with images and tables and data. every part is customisable. This program had features that took word 10years to implement.

You Control
Jul 28 2004
****½

MALCOLM COOKE  I have been using this for several versions now don't see what the complicated setup complaints are about. It took about 5 min to set it up the way I like never read the manual. Just drag the home folder or app folder to the setup area quick and simple. The only thing missing is the drag and drop like maxmenus where you could drag a file to the popup menu drill down to the prg and start like a normal drad and drop or copy a file to a folder this way, when they implement this it will be even better. Youcontrol is more stable them Maxmenus which has a conflict with some of the menus in Adobe products.

I have tried all the so called free things like Buttler lasted all of about 10 min and deleted it. I think these single apps with great control are much more sensible than 6 or 7 little apps from different authors all with the possibility of clashing code etc.

The price is a touch high but I brought it the discount and am happy

GutenPrint
Apr 20 2004

MAL COOKE  Really puzzled at the comments that os9 prints better photo than osx I and many others pro photographers find the opposite is true. I get almost perfect colour match screen to print from osx and my HP 1220c and an epsom c60 and other printers you have to make sure to use the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 as the print output in photoshop ore any other colour output program. Inkjet printers as profiled for this colour space. Setting up the screen profile to sRGB and then calibrate colorsync and all should work out great. The paper you use will also affect the result a lot.

JAMES HARVEY  The quality of a photo print in OSX will depend largely on whether you have a properly profiled workspace, regardless of driver. That means monitor profiling with a hardware device and a proper ICC profile for the printer.

The great advantage of OSX is that it has full profile management built into the OS: and it's very good at it. Anyone who says that OS9 delivers "better prints" doesn't know what they're talking about, IMO
