CJC1959AU  Oooooo gees, we are very bitchy aren't we?

At no time have I made any personal comments or attacks at all towards you and yet you continue to attack me and others on a personal level. Not a good way to get people to help you.

How to setup a Mac program? Open the dmg/zip file and drop the item into your Applications folder. Double click on the icon and follow what is on the screen by pressing a few buttons on your mouse, keyboard or Apple Remote and see what happens.

I have at no time read any documentation for Plex or OSXBMC (what it was called previously). I just did exactly the above and went from there. I wonder what happens when I press this button? Oh, so that's what happens.

Most of the skins are quite intuitive. Clicking on "Change My Settings" takes you to the configuration screens. Clicking on "Watch My Movies" takes you to your Movies folder. Clicking on "Listen To Music" takes you to your Music folder (but not unfortunately your iTunes folder). Clicking on "View My Pictures" takes you to your Pictures folder.

Rather than getting all high and mighty and insulting everyone personally, why don't you try starting the program and pressing the arrow keys/enter a few times? I think you can also use your mouse by default too. You can also use an Apple Remote but I think that has to be turned on in one of the settings. You should be able to find it under Settings -> Remote (I think).

You can also load up other skins and use them. Some of the skins are much simpler and easier to use than the current default skin. Look on the OSXBMC forums and you will find information about how to make any skin available for use.

You can enable the mouse through the settings, but some think that typically it's better to use the keyboard. The default keys are as follows :

- navigate

- scroll up and down

- select

- previous menu

- go up back (or up) a directory

- pause

- Skip Next

- Skip Previous

- Full Screen

= Screen Shot

- Volume Down

- Volume Up

<0 - 9> - 0 through 9

p - Play

f - Fast Forward

r - Rewind

x - Stop

m - Player controls

s - Shutdown menu

i - Info

q - Queue

Is there heaps of stuff about Plex that I don't know yet? Quite possibly, I don't claim to be any expert on Plex. I just click on buttons and see what happens.

And if I want to do something specific and I don't know how, I play around a bit and then I usually go to the OSXBMC forums or I do a Google search. I go looking for my answer.

Is Plex perfect? Far from it, I never claimed it was. Is it simple and easy to use? I have found that mostly it is. Would it be easier if someone collected all the accumulated information and knowledge in one place and distributed it? Quite possibly

For now, I'll just keep playing and see what happens when I click buttons. For a FREE program that works pretty well the majority of the time, I find exploration and learning a small price to pay!

And I don't have to insult anyone anywhere along the way to do it!

CJC1959AU  And I would hope that you would give the developers a little bit of slack considering Plex is something you aren't even paying any money for.

Have you even donated to the porting crew?

Maybe if documentation is so important to you, then you should offer your services to the porting crew to write documentation and online help?

or do you just want to whinge?

Well, now that you are so annoyed with the poor Plex developers who are getting nothing for what they are doing other than satisfaction and the odd donation, are you going to actually put your hand in your pocket and purchase software that better fits your needs?

I didn't think so!

Adobe Dock

CJC1959AU  I'm glad I donated to help Sam continue with his work!

I won't use the Adobe one, but I do use both the iLife and iWork ones, and I'm wrapped in them.

I think I would like to see one for Web Browsers as well, or maybe Internet tools?

Safari, Camino and Firefox with Mail? Might work.

Thanks Sam!

CJC1959AU  It isn't "basically the same on either side so yeah"

Applications are supposed to be on the left side of the dock, and Sam's dock allows that facility. "Copying a folder of icons" as we always get told is exactly the same isn't and doesn't work as well.

By the same logic, Windows is just as good as OS X so yeah!

CJC1959AU  It won't do the same as this app, as a folder will only go into the right hand side of the dock, not the left as this app does!

CJC1959AU  And with a created folder, it can only go into the right of the dock, not the left where all the applications are!
