CHARLES_BT  This sounds a lot like which is fixed in the nightly builds and will be fixed in 1.72.

CHARLES_BT  Just to clear up any confusion:

* I am one of the Transmission developers, and I have only posted followup comments, not stars/reviews/whatever. My intent was to participate in the forum because sometimes bug reports show up here.

* I said Killer Klown Kar was an alias of mine because he posts knee-jerk flames against Transmission. It was a joke!

* My point about the 40+ changes in 1.60 that came from user suggestions is that you said we aren't open to suggestions, but we are...

cheers,

Charles

CHARLES_BT  > I have this problem with Transmission... Most of the positive "reviews" here sound like ads on old AM Radio. I don't believe they're "users..." more likely the Developers and their sycophants.

You keep throwing out this accusation, so once again I'll deny it. Neither developer posts reviews here.

> I got the impression that they didn't much like any criticism at all, as everything I posted was maligned and I was insulted and called all sorts of names for using the wrong terms.

The changes in 1.60 include over 40 suggestions made by many users. If you don't believe me, go look at the "complete list of tickets" linked to at transmissionbt.com.

> I am curious if the user can Update Tracker when he/she feels like. The last new version I tried didn't allow this.

Yes and no. Most trackers have minimum intervals allowed for Update Tracker. Since updating more frequently than that is likely to get you and Transmission banned, we grey out the button until that interval has passed.

CHARLES_BT  You leave Transmission running at home, and can control it remotely via a browser.

This really isn't a complicated idea. uTorrent, Azureus, and Deluge all have web interfaces for the same reason.

But why should that get in the way of your regularly-scheduled troll every time there's a new Transmission release... thanks for the laugh :)

CHARLES_BT  This sounds like ticket #1829 (see http://trac.transmissionbt.com/ticket/1829), which is fixed in the nightlies and scheduled for 1.51.

CHARLES_BT  For the record, I only post here under three accounts -- this one, "Wizardling", and "Killer_Klown_Kar". And I haven't used the latter two here on the Transmission page in weeks.

Still, I enjoyed your post. If the 1.50 reviews are so one-sided that you suspect it's the developers posting them, I feel like I must've done something right in this release. ;)

CHARLES_BT  It's interesting that your 1.42 evaluation was a month before 1.42 was released, while it was still in heavy development.

I'm not interested in changing your mind -- you've been trolling in the forums and IRC for quite some time -- but I do want to correct your misleading statement that "Transmission began a couple months ago to allocate all it's upload bandwidth to just one torrent 95% of the time."

1.42's bandwidth allocator runs twice per second, and each time it has two phases. The first phase, it goes round-robin across ALL peers in ALL torrents and tries to distribute bandwidth evenly among them. This ends once the bandwidth is all consumed or no peers' sockets are ready for more. In the second phase, any remaining bandwidth is made available first-come-first-served so that fast peers can ramp up their speeds.

Here is a screenshot of how 1.42 distributes 100 KiB/s upload speed across multiple torrents:

CHARLES_BT  > Transmission has had this issue from the start. They know about it, don't fix it, and you continue to use it and be a fan boy for it.

I am one of Transmission's developers. I'm not aware of any current stats bugs in Transmission, nor any current stats-related bans. If you're sure that your complaint is still valid, please post to http://forum.transmissionbt.com/ so that we can track down the problem.

Regardless, I'm glad you're enjoying µTorrent. It's good competition for us and I'm sure they'll enjoy having you as a user.
