I used to use Toast Lite but LiquidCD does more and it's free! Nice interface. Works extremely well. What's not to like? Great stuff!

Great stuff! This little app makes up for a huge shortcoming in iWeb. I have two iWebsites. one that I upload to my .Mac account and one that I upload to another hosting provider. Uploading both sites to .Mac seemed to be so redundant and was frustrating. iWebsites lets me put my sites where I want. Thanks for such a great app!

First of all if I offended you I apologize. My goal wasn’t to put you down or question the validity of your review. I just wanted to let other people know that if they have a newer machine or even an older machine with enough RAM iConceal should run just fine. It would be a shame for people to miss out on what I have found to be a great little app based on one person’s negative experience.

Being that iConceal will encrypt a 50MB file on my machine in 21 seconds I'm guessing that your problems go beyond the fact that you have a G3. There's got to be something else going on there. If you haven't maxed out the RAM on your machine I would highly recommend it. The bare minimum requirements for Tiger (I’m assuming you are running Tiger since it’s a system requirement for iConceal) alone is a machine with at least 256MB of RAM and everyone I’ve spoken to says that you really need at least 512MB of RAM. I have personal experience with this. We have a 400Mhz Power Mac G4 that we use as a file server. It only has 384MB of RAM and man is it slooooow. A buddy of mine has an iBook G3 with 640MB of RAM and it’s faster than the Power Mac. A RAM upgrade gives you the biggest performance “bang” for your buck.

iConceal is freeware and I do think that you might wanna give the person who wrote this app a break. You are using a pretty old machine (the G3 desktops were discontinued in ’01 and the IBooks in ’03). If you would like to see an improvement in the performance of iConceal on G3s perhaps you could consider making a donation to the developer along with your request. I have found that the developers really appreciate it and a request doesn’t fall on deaf ears.

Good luck!

I have a 1.5GHz PowerBook G4 (2GB RAM) and encryted a 359 MB folder in 4 minutes. I think that's pretty quick!
