I got Hazel in the recent MacUpdate bundle. I'd not have bought it normally, but thought I'd give it a go since it was essentially free. I rarely used it and quickly forgot about it. However, over the past month or two I'd been finding that my computer would become very unresponsive when it was under heavy strain - far more so than it used to when under the same conditions. I finally found time to troubleshoot the issue, and after a lot of trial and error I discovered that uninstalling Hazel significantly improved performance on my MacBook Pro. I'd forgotten it was there and it didn't cause any noticeable spikes in Activity Monitor, but uninstalling it made a HUGE difference to the speed of my machine. |

Seems to generally work okay, but I've had numerous issues with it, particularly it telling me I need to pay for extra features when I have the registered version and it crashing frequently when it loads at startup. Tried contacting the developers for help but never received any response to any of my mails. I'm glad I only got it as part of the MU bundle and didn't pay full price for it. |

This looks like just the sort of thing I'd want from an RSS reader and might finally get me using RSS more frequently. But $30? I'd never pay $30 for an RSS reader no matter how good it was. |

Generally a great little app, but the menu icon is ugly and really ruins the aesthetic of my menu bar - plus it cannot be moved so it sits at the far left of my menu icons. Any option for a menu icon more in line with the standard menu icons would be great! |

I think you have misunderstood what DockLock is and what it's for. It is designed to let you choose which features of your Dock you want locked or unlocked and to lock or unlock them for you with 1 click of the mouse. You should not need to bring up the preferences window often, and many (most?) users of DockLock will not need to register. Please actually make an effort to try out and to understand an applicaton before judging if it is worth the shareware fee. |

Plus, nothing DockLock does can be done in System Prefs, and everything Onyx can do that DockLock does too is still free in DockLock 2.0. It's HOW DockLock does what it does that it's useful for, not so much WHAT it does. |

Unison is still in dire need of a major update. Aside from the many needed bug fixes I'd love to see video previews and far more control over the download queue - preferably the ability to queue and schedule NZBs separately! |

Is this thing still wiping hard disks? The developer never did acknowledge the issue officially, so I wonder if he ever fixed it? If you run MediaCentral from a folder inside your Applications folder, BEWARE! |

This is in desperate need of a full update. The program is still great, and I keep trying it to see if it does the things I want to convince me to part with my cash, but it's been a long time since it was released. It was one of the most beautiful and simple apps on the Mac when it came out, but now many apps have passed it in both respects. I'd love to see a more persistent download queue (if I put something in the queue it means I want it - I shouldn't have to manually requeue things if there's an error), previewing of movies within Unison, more thread sorting options, and generally a better awareness of how usenet really works these days. This app is slipping behind the times. It's a shame, because it's still a brilliant app! |

Nice little app. Needs to use a fixed width font for displaying walkthroughs, though. I'll be keeping an eye on it! |

Public beta it may be, but if they're willing to charge money for it then they're willing to have it rated and criticised. Too many companies use the "beta" tag to justify releasing, or worse yet selling, incomplete and buggy software. |

The app itself continues to impress me with its ease of use and ability to actually get things downloaded. However, the last couple of versions have made my MacBook Pro C2D fan run from the moment I open Xtorrent to the moment I close it (I close it, fan immediately starts to spin down). The only other thing that makes my fan run so solidly is Quake 4. No other app I've encountered causes as much fan use as Xtorrent. Something changed? This wasn't the case from the b17 days. |

Actually, RarMe has been doing just that for several years. SimplyRAR definitely makes the job easier, though! |

Seems a good start but I'd like to lower idling CPU usage (about 8-12% on my creaky old PowerBook), better handling of VIDEO_TS folders and, in an ideal world, Nero .nrg support. Superb interface and smooth execution, though. Not sure about paying for a beta, mind. |

Brilliant little app. Simple and easy. Plus, it just works. After giving up on torrents a year ago I was using this for 5 minutes before I had 15 torrents running - all actively downloading. I've often struggled to even get one good torrent going with other apps. Before I'd pay for it, though, I'd need to be able to select individual files to download. It'll let me see the individual files, but not selectively download them. Rated as a FREE beta. |

With the release of SimplyRAR I'm getting a few questions about the status of RarMe. There are three points to be addressed: Firsty, RarMe has no been abandoned but is not in active development. Updates will happen only when I find the time, which is not very often. Secondly, people are asking why SimplyRAR doesn't require RAR to be installed and RarMe does. The answer is simply that the RAR license prohibits such distribution of RAR without the author's written permission. Despite several requests I've never even managed to get a response from the authors of RAR, let alone permission. SimplyRAR presumably had better luck. Until I do get written permission I will continue to respect the RAR license and distribute RarMe without RAR included. Thirdly, (RANT ON) the slowness of RarMe development is partly due to the lack of donations. I don't say this out of greed - anyone who bothered to click on the Donate tab will have seen that I don't ask for donations to be sent to me, but to several charitable causes I support. I don't feel hugely inspired to put work in on RarMe when so few people support these important causes. Just $1 to any of the listed charities will make a difference. If we all put more support in to causes like these I guarantee you the world would be a better place.(/RANT OFF) |

Looks like a great little app and I was looking forward to using it. However, there's no way I'm registering my details for what claims to be a freeware app. Especially since the registration requires connecting to the developers servers. Not good at all, imho. Deleted without even being tested, which is a shame. |

So, is this version safe to install, or is it still trashing numerous people's files? The update makes no mention of fixing this issue. Or is deleting people's hard disks counted as one of the "various minor bugs"? |

I actually find it quite staggering that this program is available for download still. One case of massive data loss and I'd be worried, but thinking that there might have been another cause than my program. By the second I'd be taking the program offline until I was sure it was fixed rather than risking anyone else losing so much data. |

Mine, too, was set to install into a subdirectory of the Applications folder. I too have received no response from the developers, even though they've had time to update the application since I sent an email via the web form. |

My browser was running at the time. The back and forward buttons vanished, but I was still able to navigate. As for a backup, I back up all my important data. But it never occured to me to back up 15gb of Applications. I guess I'm just stupid. Naturally the blame lies entirely with me for not backing up. The application that deleted 15gb off my HD is enirely faultless. |

I don't think this is in any way descended from CarraFix. I remember using the command line version of this around when Carrafix came out. |
