CALMEFORET  First, he did not call the people retarded: he spoke of their retarded world view.

Second, I see his response neither as childish nor as lacking in propriety.

Third, people who make the association of Mein Kampf and Mein Kopf most likely do not know German (or at least do not know it well - I for one did not make this association and it took me a moment even to understand what the discussion was about); in that case, any intelligent person would first wonder what it means in German and realize that mental punning in a language one doesn't know is likely to be totally off the mark, rather than jump to conclusions that show nothing more than his/her own ignorance of German. Though it might make sense commercially to take into account the less intelligent "sensitive" people, it is certainly defendable for the developer NOT to cater for such people, who in my opinion DO have a limited (if not retarded) vision of the world.

CALMEFORET  Strider 72 has a balanced, fair-minded view. I have used Toast for many years myself and have gotten a lot of mileage from it, but I have been less than happy with Toast 8 (various problems for which I'm not sure to what extent the program itself is responsible), and I have not liked Roxio's attitude toward users, especially recently.

I would say that the whole rebate idea already puts me off: if someone who buys a product gets $20 back, why not just give the discount right away and save everyone a lot of trouble? The only reason I can think of is that the company is banking on many people not bothering with the rebate, or what is FAR WORSE, their making some little 'error' that would disqualify them. The worst part to me is 1° being subjected to possible disappointment 2° WASTING time. This last point is important: if I waste time and energy sending in a rebate request and get nothing for it — whether or not it is my 'fault' — I resent it very much, and I feel triply cheated because the disappointment/resentment I am left ruins my day and is bad for my health.

CALMEFORET  Thanks for letting us know. It is a truly disgusting way to go about making — or saving — money: first you make the customer waste time and energy, then he/she gets a lot of negative feelings for the trouble! I would stay away from any company that does this, if it is possible at all.

CALMEFORET  I downloaded the demo but it didn't work on my new iMac with OS 10.5.2

I also hate it when I am buy something and am then given a download link. Often it doesn't work and then there is nothing to do but try to get a better link; I've wasted a lot of time doing this with a couple of programs.

I doubt very much if I'll buy this product. It doesn't bode well when the demo is not only extremely limited (10 items) but doesn't work.
