BUSHBABYWAS  Great app, but a few changes might make it better.

1) Add an option to ignore errors (e.g. iTunes file permission errors) and continue encoding.

2) Display encoding progress in the main window rather than a separate log

3) Have a way to automatically search for the album/cd artwork using the default browser and for example, discogs.

Even without these features, Max together with XLD are the perfect set of music encoding tools.

BUSHBABYWAS  Amendment. Have tested it, and it works brilliantly - even with Snow Leopard's Finder, which wasn't really the case with Leopard.

BUSHBABYWAS  brilliant news - someone has got multiclutch working for Snow Leopard by using a 64-bit compatible build of SIMBL, link here. Haven't had time to test it, but looks promising!:

SizzlingKeys

BUSHBABYWAS  Extremely clear and simple to set up through a pane in System Preferences, and highly customisable. Displays album art reliably and It does everything all the many myriad other iTunes controllers do, but seems to be more reliable and stable. Let's you rate the currently playing song using a keyboard shortcut - without this I doubt I would ever rate my tracks.

The closest competitor for ease of use, features and stability seems to be the excellent GimmeSomeTune (http://www.macupdate.com/reviews.php?id=20412), but I think Sizzling Key's elegant pop-up notification looks a lot better than GimmeSomeTune's more cluttered, bezelled one. And Sizzling Keys has very slick playlist and search pop-ups, though to be honest I find switching to iTunes using the provided keyboard shortcut easier.

I would like to request, however, two features, one small, one a bit more ambitious. GimmeSomeTune has both.

a) the ability to only start when iTunes does, rather than upon system startup would be a boon. I realise this would require a small watcher daemon, but I still think it would be worth it. It's annoying to accidentally start iTunes by unintentionally pressing one of Sizzling Keys' keyboard shortcuts.

b) The killer feature, which would stop me switching to GimmeSomeTune, would be the ability to fetch lyrics for the playing song and display in a similar transparent window.

GimmeSomeTune's automatic search seems to work far more quickly and fetch many more lyrics than other similar applications, so implementation would v. good to top it. But it would make Sizzling Keys by far the best iTunes controller available.

Here's hoping.

Anyway, excellent app. This and GimmeSomeTune are the ones to get if you want an unobtrusive, powerful but easy to use iTunes controller.

BUSHBABYWAS  Fantastic application. Works lots faster (in finding artists etc) than the iTunes plugin that comes with Salling Clicker. It's also endlessly configurable. What's more, when I emailed Fabian for support, he responded within 15 minutes!

Wholeheartedly recommended if you plan to use Salling Clicker for iTunes at all.

Transmission

BUSHBABYWAS  Transmission is the best torrent client I've ever used, on both Mac and Windows.

Best thing about it is interface - easy on the eye, with clean lines and a simple download window.

While it used to be a rather simple, stripped down client, like Tomato, updates over the past year have added in as many features as more bloated, memory-hogging clients such as Azureus, but have kept the simplicity and ease of use of earlier versions See, for example, the ability to preview the contents of a torrent and select the files you want to download, or the ability to change d/l and u/l settings, all with one or two clicks, and without having to go through preferences menus.

Also, as a quick check on activity monitor will show, it has low memory usage. The very regular and stable updates that install and relaunch with two clicks - no hassle opening dmgs, are well implemented,

All round excellent then. I've been using Transmission for about a year and a half and have had no complaints.
