CallWave Text Messaging
Apr 6 2007

BRAMR  I'm a Product Manager at CallWave.

M Chang: Text messages sent from the CallWave SMS service use your mobile number as the senderID. This is why you need to register.

Amcan12: I'm glad things worked out for you. Text messages sent by CallWave can be subject to the same carrier/country delays as messages sent from your mobile phone. Thanks for your understanding.

MARC BIZER  Surely the widget could keep the return address instead of it being kept by Callwave. In addition, I find it disturbing that Callwave keeps a record of *all* SMS messages sent

CALLWAVE  Hi Marc, I am a product manager at CallWave. I wanted to let you know a little about our service and how we value your privacy. CallWave keeps return addresses to enable replies directly to your mobile phone, this way only messages you send from the widget are in your text log. This message log, much like any email account, is password protected and for your review only. No one can access this account without your permission and CallWave does not read or review these messages. We are working on adding edit features to your text log in future versions of our product.

Thanks for trying CallWave!

BRAMR  I'm a Product Manager at CallWave.

Please note that due to overwhelming demand we've had to limit our free SMS Beta to a smaller number of countries (see FAQ). We're working hard to expand our beta to other countries, and hope to have a solution by mid February. Thanks for your continued support, and stay tuned for more information.

CallWave Virtual Voicemail

BRAMR  I am a Product Manager at CallWave.

Our visual voicemail widget works with US cell numbers only at this time.

re: DOBES. I think you are referring to the SMS widget: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/19064

Our SMS widget works in many countries. We are working hard to make a valuable service available to as many users as possible. I apologize that we don't serve your country at this time. As stated in our FAQ we're working hard to expand coverage:

Where can I send from?

BRAMR  I'm sorry that the Verizon deactivation code did not work for you. Verizon's deactivation instructions come straight from this Verizon Wireless website: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/HowToControllerServlet?path=featureDetail&path=featureDetail&featureId=1974

(you have to enter your zip code)

I'd like to find out why it didn't work so that we can improve our instructions. Please contact me at care-v2w(at)callwave(dot)com so that I can troubleshoot your situation.

As for your comment on being upfront, note that the widget Learn More link explains how it works, and what activation codes are. Deactivation codes are also available at all times in the widget preferences.

Lastly, note that you can still access your messages by phone when using CallWave. Just call your own cell number from your cell.

BRAMR  This is from the Learn More section (available from the registration screen on the widget):

What are activation codes?

Dialing the activation code allows your phone to send unanswered calls to CallWave (so we can display a copy of your messages in your widget).

If you are not completely satisfied with CallWave, you can always go back to your old cell phone voicemail by dialing the deactivation code.

How does it work?

If somebody calls you on your cell phone, and you don't answer, the call forwards to CallWave. CallWave records the message and shows it in your widget.

BRAMR  I'm a Product Manager at CallWave.

robbchadwick: Sorry to hear that you had trouble deactivating your Verizon forwarding. I'd be happy to help you with that. Please contact me at care-v2w(at)callwave(dot)com.

For the record, please note that our Visual Voicemail widget shows both activation and deactivation instructions. The Learn More, which is available from the registration screen, explains how it works, and what activation codes are.

We appreciate your feedback and will use it to improve our products.
