BRADSMITH74  Very nice- does one thing and does it very well. The Applescripts to start and stop it were a nice touch.

Cisco VPN Client

BRADSMITH74  Same problem here- I have a valid free account with Cisco, but it still won't let me download it, saying that I first need to have a valid Technical Support Services Agreement. However if you google for the name of the file (vpnclient-darwin-4.9.01.0180-universal-k9.dmg) there are other non-official places to download it- obviously use at your own risk.

BRADSMITH74  First question- can you go directly to the index.html file, or does that generate an error? For example, can you go here:

http://yoursite.com/index.html

and see the page correctly? If you get the error on this link, then as aetnaria said it might be permissions, or also make sure it's not a capitalization problem or slight change in the file name (index.htm vs. index.html).

However if that link is working, and you're just having problems when you leave the "index.html" off of the end of the URL (e.g. "http://yoursite.com/"), then it's an issue with your server's configureation (you need to set the server to serve files named index.html as default). Configuring this differs based on the server you're using (Apache vs. IIS, etc.). If you'd like more help let me know.

Macaroni

BRADSMITH74  First, please don't give a star rating to a product if you're only going to make a comment about the cost/value. It's misleading to people who actually want to know about software. Instead us "Review Type" of "Comment". Second, unless I'm mistaken Onyx doesn't do the same thing- specifically when it comes to automating a large number of tasks/crons and running them on a periodic basis. In addition to all of the predefined tasks, Macaroni allows you to create an run your own cron tasks via its simple interface. I've been a very happy user of Macaroni for years and find that it's well worth $10.

Docx Converter

BRADSMITH74  A number of widgets allow you to drag and drop files onto them. To do this, begin with the dashboard NOT showing. Click on the file to convert and begin to drag it. While continuing to hold down the mouse button, hit F12 (or whatever key you have assigned to activate the dashboard). You'll notice that the dashboard will appear, and you'll still have the file mid-drag. Finish by dragging the file into the widget's "drop zone" and then release the mouse button.

BRADSMITH74  There are a number of options. I like XNmap, which is a front-end for the Unix nmap utility. You can enter a range to scan like 10.1.31.1-254 and it will not only tell you which address get a response, but can scan each device for open ports. Very powerful, but with all of the available options, a bit cumbersome to use.

Conference Call OMNI
Dec 13 2007
*****

BRADSMITH74  I was looking for a simple widget that would just display the stats for the my team, and Conference Call OMNI does that perfectly. (If you're looking for full list of all scores for a sport, ESPN's widget is very nice.) OMNI is simple, clean, with logical options, including a convenient refresh button (with visual indicator). All of the listed scores are links to game summaries, and the icons, team logo, and sport icon (small baseball for baseball scores) are all polished touches. Many thanks to the developers.
