BOUSOZOKU Version 0.4.22 shows up in Safari but apparently does not affect Firefox for some reason as it shows 0.4.15 that I already had loaded as a Firefox extension. (Version 0.4.22)

Kanji Go | Jul 20 2008 |
BOUSOZOKU I've found the application useful. Not only does it give exact information about a word, but it can also give related idioms. I'm not sure of the source of the information, but it seems that it misses some honorific data, i.e., o-senbei, o-yu. Japanese can be used without the honorific prefixes, but it's important to use it. One thing I noticed when I upgraded from .7d to .7e is that I lost my list, even though I had used the File->Save option. The data should be stored in the user's data area, not within the application itself. (Version .7f)

Kanji Go | Jul 20 2008 |
SCOTTJMCHUGH Hi Bousozoku, Thank you your feedback! I've just released version .8 of Kanji Go, which now places its vocab lists in the user's Library/Application Support/Kanji Go folder, so vocab lists will be preserved across versions. When upgrading from v.7.x to this one, I recommend using File>Export to save your current vocab lists, and then importing them into the new one. If you have any other feedback, please let me know.

BOUSOZOKU If you're waiting for the bugs to be gone, you shouldn't try a beta test piece of software. Perhaps you don't understand that beta test software is a work in progress and it's not meant to be used on a day-to-day basis. (Version 10.0d536)

BOUSOZOKU The corporate AV chat is ahead of the chat available on the Windows version, supposedly, and they're migrating the Windows client to use the AV chat protocol that's already available in the Mac OS X client. It seems as though it's behind, but it's really ahead, even though we still can't use AV chat. (Version 7.0.1)

Apple Mac OS X | May 30 2008 |
BOUSOZOKU Leopard itself has many features, though the count itself doesn't seem $129 worth. For most people, an unintrusive backup is worth $129, though. 10.5.3 is what Apple should have shipped from the start. At the initial installation, I was surprised to find that the performance was horribly slow compared to 10.4.10. Things were taking 5 times as long to finish, even though the user interface was very responsive. Personally, I had to upgrade a number of applications with new versions as they would not work consistently for the first time since Mac OS X v. 10.1.x. Other applications were dead. The firewall was a sieve, only giving the impression of security. 10.5.3 is where it starts to work properly. This is the point where Apple should have used as a retail starting point. They still have much to fix, apparently. Performance is definitely one of those things, as it appears the performance is about half the speed of what 10.4.10 was able to do. (Version 10.5.3)

BOUSOZOKU I'm hoping that they get the basics locked down before 2008, but I doubt that. It would be nice to have something as stable as 2.5.3 after almost two years of waiting for version 3.0. Seeing feature parity with the Windows version might take until 2011. (Version 3.0b2.78326)

Monopoly Here & Now | Nov 24 2007 |
BOUSOZOKU The MacUpdate Promo price was good and generally, the game is fine. However, especially since Leopard, sounds and occasionally graphics, occur out of order. e.g., the "You've got a Monopoly!" sound will occur well into the next player's turn. Problems are exacerbated on a busy system and occasionally, steps occur twice such as the "Finish Turn" dialog box returning after pressing the key. (Version 1.0)

BOUSOZOKU Version 0.32 has given back the two finger scrolling, which hasn't worked since Tiger. It still seems a bit jerky but that is probably due to Leopard as everything seems to work poorly. (Version 0.32)

BOUSOZOKU I don't see any serious problem with the way version 2.3.1 is working but in upgrading, some of my keyboard settings were wiped out, so now, changing volume is impossible. I can't say that this is as bad as 2.1.x when I could not get to the keyboard configuration but it's more frustrating since part of my keyboard seems to be useless. (Version 2.3.1)

Unihan Variant Dictionary | Apr 6 2007 |
BOUSOZOKU This is exactly the kind of tool that helps with the varying simplication of Chinese characters across countries. Since Japan and China have gone separate ways to simplification and Taiwan still supports traditional characters, it's often important to have a bridge. This product is that bridge, especially for someone who is younger than the changes. I find it invaluable when dealing with Simplified Chinese from a Japanese background. (Version 1.2)

BOUSOZOKU Logitech Control Center 2.1.3 has fixed the problem with being able to configure the keyboard. It wasn't apparent that this had happened. I had to go into the preferences at ~/Preferences and delete all Logitech-related files, after which I restarted my system. After that, I could configure the keyboard. (Version 2.1.3)

JaSFtp | Oct 22 2006 |
BOUSOZOKU Fugu doesn't appear to have similar capabilities beyond those of simple FTP clients. JaSFtp is touted as having features for automation and Fugu doesn't support that, according to what the developer has provided. Claiming that the price is inappropriate for that reason is not a valid argument. (Version 7.16)
