BOLLYWOOD  Apart from building a background process that sits around waiting for Safari to open. SIMBL is the only way to get this working.

in fact SIMBL is already doing exactly that..... Glims, and 1Password have their own background processes running.

So the more Plugins you have installed, the more background daemons your computer is going to need. Seeing as how, a lot of other plugins are utilising the 'sniffing' SIMBL is doing, it makes sense to use it. And, to be honest, i would like to have as few processes running as possible.

BOLLYWOOD  Because this uses the engine of SafariBlock, you are correct, there is a lot of room for improvement. There is still not support for example - whitelisting an entire site.

I guess you'll have to choose which is more useful, till SafariSource is updated.

BOLLYWOOD  I have been waiting for the other plugins to update for 64bit - just like everyone else, and even tried helping out on one of them. But couldn't wait any longer. So I used the open-source SafariBlock as a starting point, and basically fixed/updated what they already had - for basic functionality.

There are a lot of good ideas that people are sending me. And when I get time I will do my best to implement some of them..... remember though folks, I have done this in my spare time - and it is time consuming. If you'd like to submit some patches, please do. I have the source-code here: http://code.google.com/p/safariadblocker/

if your'e not a programmer...., use the donate link in the "About" panel.

Cheers

Enjoy an ad-free existence.

BOLLYWOOD  There is now a functioning 64bit SIMBL plugin build on GitHub, it works for some, not for others though. so if you're handy with XCode, d/l and build it yourself.

its working perfectly on my 13" MacBook Pro running 10.6.1

and my 15" MacBook Pro running 10.6.1

it is NOT working on my 13" running 10.5.8 however (but as 0.4rc3 still works, it shouldnt really matter)

BOLLYWOOD  If you are experiencing problems after updating to Version 1.x from Version 0.8 or below

Check inside the folder /Library/InputManagers/ if there is a folder named "Safari Cookies". move it to the trash (you may need to authenticate)

Because Safari Cookies, has moved from being an InputManager, to being a SIMBL plugin - you may need to manually remove the older version. (if you didnt uninstall SC before upgrading)

JDRWIEBE  Well, I've gone through everything, deleted all parts of the old, checked manually and reinstalled version 1.03, even restarting the Mac. It won't show up in Safari. The bundle is in the SIMBL folder, all where it is supposed to be but will not show. The only other plug-in for Safari I have installed is SAFT, so I guess I'll try removing it and see if that is the stopper. Any other ideas? OS 10.6.1, 32 bit.

JCDS  I have deleted the InputManagers folder in /Library and repaired permissions once SL installed.

I run Safari on SL in 64 bits mode.

I have previously installed SIMBL 0.9.6c in order to use SafariStand SL170; it works perfectly.

I had only to install Safari Cookies; all works perfectly too.

Thank you for your great job.

****.

BOLLYWOOD  this is an indispensable plugin for Safari(Leopard), Apple should have built in this functionality!

all it needs to make it perfect(for my needs) are the ability to add custom filters via the contextual menu, and the ability to be able to import/export custom lists of filters.(I like to back up my filter lists)

other than those 2 enhancements, this is perfect

BOLLYWOOD  this updater wont work if you haven't installed the 13.01 patch first, and it also won't work if you have removed language files.... eg. XSlimmer, or Monolingual.

I had to reinstall Illustrator, to get the updaters to work.

why cant adobe, at least give some sort of error message for the updaters, and better yet - make the installer not reliant on miscellaneous language files?
