SuperDuper! | May 15 2006 |
BOB_WEINER For my money, SuperDuper 2.1 is hands-down the BEST Mac back-up program on the market, bar none. Version 2 adds a nice feature to schedule your back-ups - mine are set to occur every evening. To quote the Ronco infommercial: "Set it and Forget it!" My questions to the developer have been answered promptly, courteously, and correctly - usually less than 20 minutes after I've sent an e-mail. Now that's service! (Version 2.1)

BOB_WEINER unbelievably addictive, slick graphics, killer soundtrack, and the ability to save your game and buy power-ups within the game. Gameplay is fast and furious, but you can scale it down. Lots of options to customize. If you like side-scrolling arcade action, this game is for you! Highly recommended. (Version 1.32)

BOB_WEINER This is the Virtual Desktop app I've been waiting for. I've been using Desktop Manager for almost 2 years now, and decided to try VirtueDesktop today for grins and giggles. I love the fact that I can assign apps to specific windows - customizeability is very flexible - though I wish there was some proper documentation to explain some of the basic set-up. Still, it's hard to beat - it's fast AND free, and works great! (Version 0.52r138)

BOB WEINER This program saved my thesis outline, and several freelance projects I'd been working on that I accidentally deleted two nights before. Yes, I do back-ups, but my last known back-up was 3 weeks ago. Enter FileSalvage. This program works as advertised. It was able to retrieve over 80% of my data, intact. As for the price - how much is your data really worth? I think $80 is a fair price - it's about $10 more than DiskWarrior, and in my opinion, FileSalvage is just as important to have around as DW. BOB WEINER There is still no means of documentation or automation to migrate from a previous version of Thunderbird over to the newest version. I've checked the website, and have not been able to locate directions on what the procedure is to move from 0.6 to 0.7c. I've noticed that Thunderbird 0.7c places all Profiles information under ~/Library/Thunderbird whereas the previous version stored it in /Library/Thunderbird. Simply copying over my previous profile information from the /Library/Thunderbird directory over to ~/Library/Thunderbird does not result in me being able to see any of my emails or address book. It scans reliably, the program itself is very stable and laden with advance features, and the stream of updates only betters the software. For production work, I highly recommend it. BOB_WEINER Excellent game with superb graphics -- though it is maddengly addictive! Reminds me a bit of the old game "Pipe Dreams", but it has to be played to be experienced. Controls take a bit to get used to, but once you are familiar with them, the challenge begins. Great game! (Version 1.0)

BOB_WEINER Installed 10.2.6 on both Dual 450 and Pismo -- so far, no significant problems - minor speed increase. Installed without a problem! (Version 10.2.6)

BOB_WEINER I find Cocktail 2.1 to be indispensable in maintaining my hard drive. What we have here is a nice collection of utilities in one low footprint package. It's easy to use, stable, and, even better, absolutely free. A must-have if you are using OSX. (Version 2.1)

BOB_WEINER Painless upgrade -- improved streaming performance when compared to version 5.x. I can't live without the Pro version for my video/post-production work. (Version 6.2)
