BLULOO Updating to 3.5.4 results in a crash on relaunch for me on one machine but not another (works fine there). Had to downgrade on the problematic machine. I read that certain sites can cause 3.5.4 to crash. Might want to try and turn off session restore if you restart with lots of tabs open in case one of your open sites crashes the browser. Great browser with the power of add-ons. Wish Safari had it. (Version 3.5.4)

BLULOO Buy new hardware? Want to reinstall your registered coolbook app? The developer will tell you you're out of luck. Neat little app but the dev says registration is only good for a specific machine. You have to pony up more $$ for another license. Lame policy for an otherwise useful app. (Version 2.14)

LOUNGE DELUXE This is not an uncommon business model for software, Apple does the same and so does Microsoft. There is no other software that provides undervolting and throttling adjustments for Macs as far as I know, so shelling out 10 bucks for every new machine isn't all that bad considering the lack of competition. SlidePad | Mar 27 2009 |
BLULOO I purchased this as a sidenote replacement for Leopard. I paid $9.99 via MacZot. I initially found it somewhat lacking but the developer quickly replied to my comments. A feature suggestion I made (changing the window height) even made it into this release. IMO, it's priced too high for what it does and that will keep it out of the hands of most users. Seems like a responsive, responsible developer, FWIW. IMO, $9.99 - $12.99 is about what a basic notepad is worth, even one that slides out from the screen.

Apple Safari | Feb 24 2009 |
While S4 is pretty and is fast, the list of useful features, present on Firefox and still missing on Safari is too long. For example, it's still missing crash protection/sessionrestore/preferences, the ability to automatically clear/reset the search bar area, the ability to add search engines to the search bar, the ability to change the way links, bookmarks or searches (etc) open in new tabs/same window/new window, etc. In some ways, I find the UI regressive. Take "top sites" thumbnail view for example. How is a huge page of thumbnails that I need to mouse over to get any useful, descriptive information and that no one can read, more useful than a list (clear descriptions) of the same sites? I'm glad so many people are pleased but I had to uninstall it. (Version 4.0b1)

BLULOO New version available at Developer's site (1.01) fixes crashing issue. Works like a charm so far. A very convenient application. Because you can attach a note to virtually any application it has almost unlimited use. It can be used like a contextual task manager, you can add links to external documents on your HD, URLs etc. (Version 1.0)

BLULOO This looks quite handy but it repeatedly crashes for me when attaching a note to FireFox. It runs for several minutes and crashes w/o warning. There is no support or email address posted at the devs site. would be worth a purchase if it were stable. Can you post contact info?

BLULOO Sorry to hear about your crashes. As a user of DT since the early betas, I can say that my experience has been one of stability with VERy rare crashes. More than likely, there is something else installed interacting with DTP (haxies and some plugins are known to crash the app, as is Safari 3 beta). Check out the user forums for help.

Default Folder X | Jan 23 2007 |
BLULOO The previous comment about folder glance is way off the mark. These applications do not serve the same need. Default Folder X is for open and save dialogue boxes. It adds many needed options to OS X. In fact, for me, it is a necessity. I haven't seen another OS X add-on with this functionality which means this is in a class of its own. This is an excellent application. It fills a wide void and, in the long run, is worth the price IMO. The developer is also responsive to emails. (Version 3.0.3b7)

Scrivener | Jan 20 2007 |
BLULOO I have been using this since it was an early beta and it has only improved over time (I never experienced a single crash, even when using the betas). It is an absolutely fantastic piece of stable, responsive software. It's beauty lies in the apparent simplicity with which it allows the user to write. The writer is unencumbered by the myriad formatting and style options present in most modern word processing programs. This program helps you structure, organize and visualize your writing in a user friendly environment. Full-screen mode provides a distraction-free environment as well. The learning curve is minimal, compared with most similar programs. The developer is top-notch and was highly responsive to user feedback during development of this app. Despite it's apparent simplicity, it provides many options to tailor the writing environment to the users needs. It is also future-proof because text is stored inside the application bundle as .rtf files and can be opened in OS X and shared with other applications. In addition, Scrivener offers several options for exporting including latex, rtf, rtfd, txt, html and multi-markdown. The user forums are also quite helpful, with more than one expert regularly present to offer assistance to less than proficient users. I cannot recommend this application or it's developer enough. For academics, researchers, writers, journalists or anyone who needs to collect information, it also shares files with DEVONthink Pro via drag and drop. (Version 1.0)

BLULOO I have always liked the convenience of SD. It is also , generally, faster than a standard Safari DL. I must add that I requested a feature only two days ago, and it appeared today!
