BLUEPOLO  Total life saver! Had 100s of files that had lost their type and creator codes. Find a file that still has them, or, make a new one, drag the others on Typeator, find the master, and bingo.

Super!

gpsWrite

****.

BLUEPOLO  I'm using my iPhone 3Gs and the Trails application as a GPS logger. The problem is that if GPS becomes unavailable, Trails records the cell tower location instead. This means that data points are bogus, and you get results like you are hiking and your reported is over 5000 mph. ;-)

So I've been looking for a way to remove these bogus data points. They are easy enough to spot: if you are any kind of altitude they have always record zero ele; also even after a few minutes they do not move.

After much searching, I've found gpsWrite which can cut bogus data points. It can open and save .gpx files.

The only minor problem is that when it writes the file it puts no spaces or blank lines between the xml entries which makes it very hard to read the file.

I looked on the web site to see if there was a way to contact the developer, but there is no 'contact / email' section. If this was fixed I would consider registering for the $12.95.

PS: It would be cool to be able to sort by data type, then finding the zero ele records would be even easier!

BLUEPOLO  This is a great application for adding GPS data to your EXIF data. You can't beat free! Occasional stability issues.

If it had the jhead style ability to save the adjusted file with the original date/time I'd give it 5 stars.

BLUEPOLO  I found this application, and discovered a bug which meant archiving failed if the source data had a file of >2Gb in it. Emailed the developer and he found the bug and fixed it. Great!

Sadly my time ran out before I was able to to confirm a multi-DVD burn.

Camino

BLUEPOLO  The auto-update seemed to go OK, but Camino would not launch. Tried 3 times then looked in the crash log.

Seems auto-update missed something, so downloaded a news dmg, and now it works OK.

E_COMMERCE  I know that older versions of PPTP were vulnerable (specifically the MS-CHAPv2 authentication scheme), but I thought that current versions were fairly robust.

BLUEPOLO  On the whole I do like EyeTV, but I have doubts about why it phones home to 194.110.194.1 and www.stuffware.co.uk.

It pings 194.110.194.1 ever 15 seconds, so my firewall logs are full of it.

What gives?

BLUEPOLO  This is so close to being such a good application. But that makes it soooo infuriating!

Set the scale, draw your plan.

Save, close.

Reopen.

All meaurements are now totally bogus.

Create new file. Copy and paste from old (bogus) into new. Measurements show OK, until you close.

Doh!

BLUEPOLO  I got this as part of the previous Macudate bundle, and its nice. I am unable to get the scale feature working at all. Also the object inspector and rotation features don't seems to work very well.

BLUEPOLO  Seems to do what it says, though if you want to do more than 1 batch would be helpful if it didn't auto-quit.

Aso the set creation date deosn't work.

MACVOS  There is a difference between the creation date you see in the Finder (which is a Finder creation date, not an EXIF date) and the EXIF key 'Creation Date'.

Which 'creation date' do you mean?

PhotoLine

*....

BLUEPOLO  Do not use this program to edit exif data!

I downloaded this to bulk change exif data on some photos where a camera error had not recorded any exif data.

Well its hard to find how to do it, but I foud it eventually.

However, after changing the exif data, it trashes the file so that preview and even photoshop cannot read the jpg anymore!

I got the pics back by saving as tiff and converting back in photoshop, but that lost me the exif data again.

Lesson learnt - avoid!

PhotoLine

GERHARD HUBER  I want to explain this:

PhotoLine has free updates inside one version number, for example 13.01 to 13.50 is free. When there is a new version number, for example 14, you have to buy an upgrade (29 Euro at the moment).

Users who have PhotoLine used only for 2 month get the upgrad usually for free.
