BIKEHAM  AppleTV setting doesn't work for me. I use iTunes instead, seems to work ok. I upgraded from earlier versions and something went amiss along the way?

****.

BIKEHAM  I am having a problem with 0.95b. It keeps downloading new video components every time I initialise it. I've tried deleting and re-installing, deleting the plist files but still I am thwarted by this cantankerous problem.

Apart from that, it works very nicely.

BIKEHAM  Growl 1.1.4 GrowlMail has some issues with Safari 4 beta.

I have been waiting for a proper fix for a while now.

Throttled
Mar 27 2008

BIKEHAM  I have used versions prior to the 0.5 release and had a dismal outcome. I installed the program not long after I bought my first mac and was flummoxed as to why my LAN speeds were pitifully slow. Some 12 months or more later I had an epiphany - could it be that Throttled was stymieing my LAN speeds and not just WAN as was intended? Removing this program made me a very happy LAN person. I am not sure if this program helped me shoot myself in the foot or it is just plain evil. The former is more likely, but I am still perplexed.

Transmission
Feb 27 2008

BIKEHAM  I have been using Transmission since 1.04 and am still experiencing "spinning beach ball" lockups of the OS (leopard). The only fix is for a hard reset - holding down the power button for 8 seconds. The mouse cursor can be moved but nothing responds.

Prior to the lock ups, the internet connection ceases.

1.06 still doesn't fix this problem as it has locked up twice for me today. No lock ups when Transmission is not running.

DAKOMAN  this happened to me with the latest release whilst trying to download a 7GB torrent at 1.5MB/sec. i had to sudo killall Transmission and the Dock.

I compiled the latest version from the subversion repo enabling SSE3 extensions (as im on intel) and put it as -O3 optimised aswell as changing the deployment target to 10.5

dont know which part worked, but now no freezes!

SyncMate

BIKEHAM  I don't think it works with Leopard. I have an Axim X30 and there is no new Network Device when I connect to the USB port. I am looking forward to this program working because I no longer wish to donate to Missing Sync each time OS X upgrades

LiquidCD

BIKEHAM  With the appearance of so many excellent free DVD burning programs ie:

LiquidCD

Burn

SmallDVD

it is about time that Toast lifted it's game and fixed stability issues.

I paid the big bucks for Toast and now wish I didn't.

AbiWord
Oct 8 2006

BIKEHAM  I recently tried 2.4.5 under OS X 10.4 and found the fonts were impossible to read on screen. Keep in mind that the problem is only with the OS X version of Abiword. There may be very few developers (if any) committed to the OS X build.

I managed to find 2.2.11 which seems to work well and saves to M$ doc format by default with a little tweaking. I prefer it to the latest NeoOffice and OpenOffice offerings.

Am very keen to see a 2.4.5 version that works and has been compiled as an intel binary.

BIKEHAM  I'll correct myself. It works fine as a server on OS X, but remember to open port 24800 on your firewall.

BIKEHAM  Last time I used synergy 1.3, it could not be run as a Server on OS X. Who is going to run a PC all the time so that they can use a Mac occasionally? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

SELF-INFLICTED  Seeing as the plaform is listed as PPC and it was last updated almost nine months before the first Intel machines were released, it would only run under Rosetta...

...and your results would seem to suggest that it doesn't do that very well at all.

WJB3WVU  Actually, it does run under rosetta. Your DVD could have crashed for any number of reasons, many having nothing to do with this program. Recommend you go to their site (www.ripdifferent.com) and join the discussion group.
