It runs fine on my G4 PowerMac . . . I've actually wanted a foosball game for a long time but never found one. This might be cool. |

First boot, as in first time I start my computer or first time I start the app? |

Cool idea, but my main motivation for downloading this was to get around the login process where I had to enter a verification code. I doubt there's ever gonna be a workaround for that -- but if there ever could be that would be great. |

It would be nice if there were an option to get the Arabic feed as well. |

So you don't think all major US news outlets are swayed by the government or corporations? A glance over a number of news articles appearing in major publications citing "government" officials in 15 / 20 paragraphs ought to be a wake up call in your fairy tale land. Al-Jazeera shows Bin Ladin tapes. They also show anti-Islamic individuals like Wafa Sultan. Make up your mind, are they Islamist masterminds of bigots? I guess the fact that you've probably never watched the channel, since -- you likely do not know Arabic would give you a skewed view of what the channel exactly is. Not that I think it's perfect, far from it. But I deal with information and determining its validity based on facts not whose logo is at the bottom of the screen. It's called critical thinking, maybe one day you'll develop that skill. |

At what point should I just take this card out of my machine and call it a day? I'm out of PCI expansion slots, so something useful could probably be put in the Alchemy's place. Does some other card use the same chipset? Is there some other TV viewing app out there? There used to be bTV for my Hauppauge card in Linux. |

Just downloaded this. Hopefully it works with Leopard now. The iMic will have to get me by until I get a Yamaha GO46. |

Someone posted a version of 2.8 here that works well with 10.4.11: http://www.uniqueness-template.com/backup/PithHelmet-2.8-(10.4.11_unofficial).zip |

I changed the plist setting with 10.4.11 and 2.7 but Safari crashed so often that it made more sense to switch it back. |

If you're going to bother making your own theme at least do something creative, not merely knock off something that's average at best. |

Anyone else amazed that MS bothered to release an update for VPC, considering they seemed to have abandoned it a long time ago? |

This is weak. Had to SSH in from another machine to kill -9 it. Lucky thing I had SSH enabled or else I would've had to reboot and lose a Word document I was working on. This was on a PPC Mac, by the way. |

I first learned about this program in an issue of MacWorld and became curious, especially since an OS X version of TypeStyler seems unlikely, despite the developer's claims. Even if an OS X version of TypeStyler did arrive, I don't think a glorified version of MS Word's "Word Art" is really worth $149! This is more sensible, especially since I was able to snatch it for $24.95 through a one-day promo. My only complaint is that, at times, Art Text borders on being cheesy. Some of the effects remind me too much of the horrific 'word art' found in many MS Publisher-created newsletters. Barf. No Nancy, not every heading needs 5 color 3D graphics. But in the hands of someone with good sensibility Art Text can be a very useful tool, and it's definitely at the right price. Hopefully future versions will bring reduce the cheese factor though. |

When the installer completed, it attempted to launch reciter for the first time and crashed. Maybe that's because I used an install folder different than the default. Otherwise it's great to see more Islamic software available for the Mac. |

Like someone else mentioned, this can be implemented in a number of free ways. But on the bright side, at least the developer isn't trying to charge $19.95 for it, like some very miserable titles I've seen on MU. |

I really can't fathom why anyone would pay $1 for this, let alone $14. As I said in a previous review, this would be a wonderful candidate for Perversiontracker if it was still being updated . . . BTW, if this type of thing amuses you, grab Darwinports (Fink would work too I'd imagine), install fortune, and build up your own quote file. Or -- here's a real innovative idea, keep a list of quotes in a document (Word, Pages, Rich Text, whatever floats your boat) and just open it up. That is, unless a tacky PowerPoint/HyperCard presentation is worth $14 to you. |

Too bad Pervisiontracker is never updated any more, this looks like a real good candidate. |

Games that screw with my resolution after launching, and then cause me to resize my windows after quitting leave a bad taste in my mouth from the get go. |

Coincidentally, I was searching last night to see if an update had been released to address the DST issue. It seems you acted relatively quickly :) When should we expect a universal binary? |

Apparently this game doesn't work if you have more than one display. The game gets mirrored on all displays and the mouse goes crazy making it unplayable. I'll stick with Tuxpuck and Shufflepuck Cafe in Mini vMac. |

Glad to see a developer update an older game. More developers should do this for their titles that are obviously still played and have a fan base. |

Some of you may know this game already: it's a remake of Shufflepuck Cafe, the classic Mac game. I still play it on my Classic II every now and then. I've been trying to find the OS X binary of TuxPuck forever, but the links were always broken. This is much better than playing it from my Linux box in OS X over X11 for obvious reasons :) Great to see it. |

What makes this so special that it's $129? Just curious. I have a turntable, receiver, and iMic attached to the receiver's tape out connection. Clicks and pops can be filtered with something like Audacity for free, if I ever desired. An iMic and phono preamp will cost you $60 or less if you're thrifty. What exactly does this do? I don't get it. |

I'm still happily using Toast 6. The only incentive I have to upgrade is so that I can have an Intel version for my MacBook, but even that's not a big issue. To make me buy this they'd need to offer a $25 upgrade version, and even then I wouldn't bother with it until I had a reason to. |

How about an option in the preferences to disable video completely? I have an AlchemyTV card installed and I get the camera window even if I don't have a camera attached. |

This is the *ONLY* terminal emulator for OS X that properly emulates DOS ANSI characters letting you telnet to on-line BBS's and enjoy ANSI art and door games the way they were intended. Plus the interface is reminiscent of ProComm, Telix, Terminate, etc. It makes you fell like it's 1993 again. Thanks to the developer for putting this out there. A universal binary might be nice, but it runs nicely under Rosetta. |

Not sure why you'd want to pay money for this when there's probably tons of flash games that are just as complex and lacking in graphics. A quick Google turned this up: http://www.gamedesign.jp/flash/tennis/tennis.html Which is more enjoyable and better looking -- and free. |

This is a must-have freeware app for OS X; I've used a few different sound editors for OS X since switching in 2002 and Audacity is my favorite of them all. As time goes on it's only been getting better and the Intel version is very welcome on my MacBook. On the downside though, why wasn't this made a universal binary opposed to two separate downloads? |

I know it's a beta, and I know more features will be added later -- but I'm just not seeing how this is any better than some of the alternatives already available, namely Audacity (which is free) and Sound Studio Pro. From the start I tried to open an MP3 file in it but couldn't and had to convert it to an AIFF first. I'm still not sure what's so groundbreaking about this program that it couldn't be compiled for PPC as well. |

Intel only? Could this be one of the first apps released as Intel only that actually serves a universal purpose (i.e., not utilities designed to address Intel Mac issues)? I wonder what made this impossible to create for PPC. |

The best C64 emulator I found for OS X. I finally retired my breadbox C64 after the 1541 quit reading disks correctly and the power adapter came loose; this is a good enough replacement. After a few days contemplating emulation vs. the real thing I finally paid $25 to register Power64. I give it a four on features though because there's no ability to get it on-line like with a Windows emulator I used and there's also no universal binary yet. Other than that perfect. |

Works awesome. This thing can shoot the whole way across my room when the batteries are at full charge -- probably like 20 feet. Cool sound effects and pretty polished. I never used the Windows version, so I'm not sure which is better, but this certainly does the job. |

I was hoping to find a seller in the US so I wouldn't have to pay $30 in shipping. The first link might be reasonable from the UK if their shopping cart weren't broken. |

Weird that a game released around this time would be PPC only. As for the demo, I wasn't able to really get a good estimation of how this game would play on my machine, since you can't alter any of the performance settings (i.e., change the resolution or even use your joystick as a controller). This might be a cool game, but I'll never really know since the demo is so lacking. And could you throw in just one more level? I have to give the playability a 2 since I can't use my joypad; graphics an sound a 2 since I can't switch the resolution, and features a 1 because of how limited the demo is. |

Interesting. I'll have to keep my eye open for this in the future. The way they're handling RSS with the Gecko engine is how I wish Camino would. Camino should take note of this and implement it -- then maybe I'd move away from Safari. |

Really nice shooter reminiscent of side scrollers like R-Type. I'm tempted to spend the $20 on this. I really like it when smaller developers like this put out a really nice game for a decent price. |

This is nice. It almost makes me wish I didn't pay for Ambrosia's Mahjong game. They're likely going to receive $20 from me in a few hours. I like the music better in this game than Ambrosia's as well. The "f" in the title should be removed though, since it has a 60 minute limit. Kind of deceptive to those Mac users who recognize "f" as Freeware. |

Awesome, I haven't played this game since I was in grade school. Those looking for a more advanced version might like Lemonade Tycoon but this is a real cool time waster for when you're at work . . . If you didn't play the original you won't understand why this is cool, so don't complain. |

I don't like how they've made the tabs blue now, disregarding whether or not your color theme is set to aqua or silver. Is there some way to change this that I don't know about? |

I've always liked Gecko more than KHTML as an engine, and interface wise I think Camino is great. Two things are missing though. First (and this is what might make me consider switching) I need an in-line spell-checker just like Safari's. Secondly, and less important since it can be fulfilled by third-party apps, I need an RSS reader. The in-line spell-checking should be so simple though that there's no reason for it not to be there. |

I haven't used this yet to capture audio, but is looks like they removed the option to change where your scratch disk is located. Or has functionality in this version changed in such a way that it's not important anymore? |
