B.NANIS  Really like this app but lack of documentation is frustrating. Could someone post some information on setting up 'quick searches'. Would love to set up a wikipedia shortcut. Thx

TUBO  Can't help with documentation, but for quick search mechanism, look in 'Sogudi'.

PROPELLERHEAD  yes, the lack of documentation is terrible. I hope Safari Stand is still being developed, because I really like it.

Here are some shortcuts that work for me:

Google Images - gi

Google Maps - gm

Wikipedia - wi

D E  To set up the quick search: go to the website from which you want to search / perform a sample search with any word, eg. "sample". / when you receive the page of results, copy the url of this page, and paste it in as a SafariStand Quicksearch address / replace the text that was originally searched for eg. "sample", with the text "@key". Should work. (do not type the quotation marks)

This needs to be a bit more transparent - perhaps an explanation of the process at the bottom of the window? I deleted all the default searches, and had to view a picture of what they were before I could decipher the pattern.

B.NANIS  don't think anyone said the "help stuff" is "too Asian". I too am having a hard time figuring out how to make shortcut searches actually search the site.

it is not at all unfair to complain about a lack of english documentation though I do not intend to trash the app.

to digress a bit - english is the web standard like it or not. we should be very thankful that there is a dominant language on the internet and that this dominance is encouraging a "unifying" communication protocol

B.NANIS  Would like to retract my remarks about Quicksilver. Have recently discovered that the reason for the application constantly quitting was faulty ram.

Apologies if my comments mislead anyone.

Quicksilver is quite an extraordinary product.

GRUMPYTICO  Hmmm...it crashes on me as well...OS X does not recognize the crash, it just silently crashes.

I love this damn thing, I am sure my memory is OS (nothing else in my system is acting up). Wonder if there is anything else I can do :(

B.NANIS  How can anyone promote this product without mentioning the ridiculous number of times it crashes everyday. I have been using it for a few months and recently used Appzapper to blow it away.

Since installing this piece of work (quicksilver), many other applications also started mysteriously crashing. Suspect the clipboard plugin was responsible.

Beware the clipboard plugin!!

I do not have many funky things installed on my machine and I am using a Macbook pro with one gig ram.

I will check out Launchbar.

Quicksilver is a great application but hopelessly bugged at the moment.

I will give it another look once it is 'really' ready for market.

ROB  Try other software like butler and see if it will serve your needs but Quicksilver has been reliable for years and if you have minimal software on your stock file then I do not think you need a launcher.

SABOR  I hear you....it crashes WAY too often and I get the spinning beach ball too many times. If it did not hang as much, maybe I would take less time than with ordinary file moving/copying, but until then, I think I will give a Launchbar a try.

N. SILVA  I've had the same experience. Several times a day I would press my Quicksilver hotkey and it would not appear. Looking in Activity Monitor I see that it died and I would have to kill it and/or start it again.

I've now switched to LaunchBar, which I love. I will look at Quicksilver again when some new builds come out.

The lack of new betas has me wondering if the developer is perhaps working on Leopard and no longer able to release versions that work on Tiger.

B.NANIS  I am afraid I cannot use this software until the Acidsearch compatibility issue is fixed. The developer seems quite reluctant to address this even though the situation has been clearly explained to him. If I have to make a choice, it is going to be Acidsearch.

B.NANIS  Lev,

From your comments, the little people are quite clearly people who:

1. cannot grasp the concept of posting feedback or cannot deal with feedback they do not agree with

2. deal with their frustration by resorting to namecalling

Calm down and your place/our place will be a little better.
