AQUILLES10  I thought I had lost some priceless pictures from my Nikon D50 and was distraught. I figured that $20 was a small price to pay for something that would save my pictures. I tried out the demo and sure enough it was able to see the pictures on teh camera's memory card. I then paid for the program and was give a download immediately. On my older G4 Powermac 1.25ghz, the program wouldn't start, so I then copied the app to my newer intel iMac, and lo and behold it fired up fine and saved all of the pictures from the memory card!

This is a simple program that works as it should, with minimal fuss. And for $20 the price is reasonable enough. Ideally, this is a program I don't want to use too often, but it's nice knowing that I have it just in case...

Formation

AQUILLES10  So in trying to decide which program will become my personal information manager I've downloaded Yojimbo, SOHO Notes, Mori, Circus Ponies Notebook, and Formation. Formation seems to be the most full featured application I tested, however it also has the steepest learning curve. It can do whatever you need it to do, be it orginize your contacts, calender, passwords, serial numbers, etc, etc. But to me, where my needs are modest, the program seems a bit overkill. Plus if it's true that the developer is no longer writting programs for the Mac, then support may become spotty, which is unfortunate. Yojimbo is on the other hand VERY simple to use (almost to a fault) and syncs with dot Mac which is nice. SOHO notes is another alternative, but support for it is also spotty.

SOHO Notes

AQUILLES10  I too was a happy stickybrain user that decided to try put the new SOHO Notes. Fortunately, my database was upgrade without a hitch, and none of my contacts and calenders weren't deleted. I'm familiar with the old stickybrain UI so I easily made the transition to SOHO Notes. I've also tried out Yojimbo, Formations, Mori, Circus Ponies Notebook and DEVONthink Pro (very impressive if a little over the top for my needs). For me SOHO Notes is the best combination of features and ease. The syncing with .Mac stinks at this point though, and the fact the support is limited only to Chronos board, and email tech support is on a pay first basis is ridiculous quite frankly. I am still unsure if I should purchase SOHO Notes becasue of these troubling issues. But the program does exactly what I need to do but I'm still trying out the competitors.

AQUILLES10  Amazing software. I feel lost when I work on a Mac wihout it. It's become essential for me. And you can't beat the price either!

SharePoints

AQUILLES10  I just installed Sharepoints on an older G4 400mhz Powermac running Mac OS 10.3.9 and couldn't be more happy. The program is relatively easy to set-up, and very stable. If all you need from your server is simple file sharing, then Sharepoints pretty much is all you need and makes OS X server software overkill. And to top it all of, you cannot beat the price!
