Thanks, but Service Scrubber no longer does:

The author is correct, and I apologize! ICeCoffEE was NOT causing the panics. After reading the author's reply to my last post, I reinstalled ICeCoffEE and it's working as it should. (Now if only we could delete unwanted services provided by Apple's apps!)

Never mind. Got it removed. RTFM. Sorry.

Aargh! I cannot remove Double Command! I did deactivate it, then deleted the pref pane... but the keyboard change— forward slash acts as forward delete— remains! And I can't get DC's instaler to re-install the app so I can try making the keyboard revert to normal... and I keep getting kernel panics that cite:

"Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies):

com.baltaks.driver.DoubleCommand(1.6.5)@0x59102000->0x59107fff

dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOHIDFamily(1.5.2)@0x636000

com.apple.iokit.IOBluetoothFamily(2.1f14)@0xa59000->0xa8ffff

BSD process name corresponding to current thread: kernel_task"

HELP! These panics are making me nuts!

Seems to cause regular kernel panics, using an Apple wireless aluminum keyboard (with only one substitution: forward slash acts as forward delete) with an Intel Core Duo iMac running OS 10.5.2.

Version 1.5b1 consistently causes kernel panics under OS 10.5.2, with APE v.2.5b1 (newest beta version of APE for Leopard). Removal of ICeCoffEE 1.5b1 immediately resolved the panics, even though the APE module was not removed.

Oops. Wrong again. Mail.app works for a while, then same old problem occurs. I delete the MailBadger bundle, and Mail woks perfectly again. When I reinstall MB afresh, Mail works just fine for a number of weeks, then the same old problem recurs. It's clearly MailBadger that's causing the problem. Too bad, really.

Well, as the reader can see below, MB didn't work for me with OS 10.4.10— but it seems to work perfectly with 10.4.11. Thanks for the freeware!

On my 1st-generation Core Duo iMac running OS 10.4.10, it causes Mail to endlessly spin the little downloading pinwheel next to the inbox, but it doesn't download messages from my Comcast POP account. When that happened, I could only force quit Mail. Removing Mail Badger restored normal behavior. I reinstalled MB and replicated this— twice. It's too bad, as MB's features are very desirable. I look forward to future versions.

I must revise my previous review. It seems to have been one particular file that OMiC choked on and that crashed it. Since then, it has worked well on two other files received. (Side note: the author asked me to send him the file that cashed OMiC and I did. I later e-mailed to ask him if he had figured out the problem, but he was not courteous enough to reply.)

I used v.5 on my Intel Core Duo iMac running OS 10.4.9, and it functioned very well. I'm afraid v.7 is non-functional, so I'm reverting.

Worked like a charm! So far, near as I can tell, Meteorologist 1.4.4 is fully functional again. Thank you! (2GHz Intel Core Duo iMac / OS 10.4.9)

Disaster! A nice try, and much appreciated as donationware, but I will not donate... because IT DOESN'T SAVE DATA! Despite my many "Save" commands, via keyboard shortcut (Command-S) and the menu bar, and by choosing "Save" when prompted by the "Quit"command (which doesn't always quit the app...), the next launch brought up only the bare-bones downloaded app, with its "sample" categtories and recipes... but none of what I spent HOURS entering!! Talk about a bummer! (I'm using OS 10.3.9 on a dual-USB G3 iBook.)

Hoo boy. We got some confusion here. Download yields version 0.6. Alternate download (i.e., author's) site yields version 0.7, not 0.8 as advertised-- and that one still produces only "Connecting to media..." on my 2GHz iMac running 10.4.2.

I'm pleased to say that the author immediately remedied all the flaws I cited in my previous review, and that the software now functions excellently. I await revisions that will implement it in Mail, TextEdit, etc.

(I am less pleased by comments such as those by "Anonymous" below, because they raise once again the tiresome old issue of one-button vs. multi-button mice, but especially because they are written in an insultingly waspish tone. Such behavior is to be expected, I suppose, from someone of limited literacy who doesn't know when to capitalize proper nouns or how to spell "wasted.")

By the way, 2 stars is generous. And yes, the problems went away as soon as I turned off the pref pane. They returned as soon as I re-activated it, so it's now off permanently unless the author can fix it.

I paid for this... and I regret it. In OS 10.4.2 on a 20" rev. B G5 iMac, it causes these problems:

- After about 5 minutes, the screen goes black, then on again, then off and on, and off and on-- every half second, as if it were trying to sleep, but being immediately awakened by some running process.

- Apps launch behind the active window, instead of in front.

- The Dashboard "hot corner" no longer functions.

The author says, "It works great in the Finder and in Safari... Also in iPhoto. ... But you're right that it doesn't work /everywhere/; that would be great and I hope to get other apps working as seamlessly as in these two apps."

"Seamlessly" is not the best choice of words.
