What is ridiculous about trying to make users happy with a need for a white background???? This is what I have written on the myTexts snow website: In the last month I've received many mails from people with a need to use the (original) myTexts application with a white/bright background because they are eye-impaired (need to invert the screen colors etc.) and others having problems with their glossy screens or simply need a white 'paper' to be creative… I have tried a lot to get this manged in one application to avoid confusion, offer this option to all people - but there is a lot more to 'tint' at runtime than just some textviews and to get this done without bracking the user-experience, the design and most of all: the quality… Well - finaly I've decided to write a complete new application. And here it it is… Once again - I would love to have this in one app - but this would result in lots of (ugly) sellouts - something I would never do - if you call this ridiculous I feel sorry. But to be honest - I am happy that many people do understand it and that they can now use myTexts, even if they are eye-impacted etc… And by the way: the preferences are the only parts not being written new from ground up…

APFELZ Drag and drop and directly click the object is not Mac-like? And you would pay the (heavy) difference if I get other people on board to do something that only is needed by one or two out of thousands not having any problems? Of course the app itself and and also the manual could be better, thats all a process - the first version even had no manual and this one really is much better than in earlier versions… And the next version the app is better and the manual etc. But even the best manual could not prevent that sometimes people don't look and don't try before they write comments about thinks supposed not to work or present, even if they all are there and working as expected :-) (BTW - the manual even has an own chapter about resizing images with own screenshot about that)

APFELZ Thanks for your feedback :-) You can easily drag images directly onto the textview or add them by menu (Insert Image) - you can adjust the size if needed but of course you don't have the adjustmenst you know from Pages or Word :-)

APFELZ Help wanted and need! The only two persons having trouble with the latest version I know have written this here. No one wrote to me. So I really need to know if I made mistake I have to find as fast as possible or whatever may could cause this… So if anyone else has this problem: myTexts makes automatically backups and stores every entry as single text files too by default. So whatever happens - your data is save. 2. As explained directly beside the 'import-license-file-button' you can affix those stupid license files if needed and for not to touch the original they will be copied (and you can also select a custom path if needed)! Of course if you copy the complete application instead of a single 3kb license file it may cause trouble! APFELZ To have font anti-aliasing for your snippets - just enable custom font in preferences :-) Of corse there is also a shortcut for "Copy" :-) But you don't need to copy it - the fastest way is to drag & drop snippets to the desired place :-)

SCRIVENS It's not so much case of replacing Word for heavy duty word processing as finding something simpler than Word (overkill but ubiquitous) which can still do the utility side of word processing in a fast and easily managed manner. I opened the Word doc in Word and did a copy & paste into both Briefe and Schreiben then saved the file in Schrieben format and used it to test both apps. The doc is 579 pages - each page is one CD's track listing in table form - so the actual data in the file is quite small but the file size is large and it does give any wp app a pretty good workout. Both Breife and Schrieben take around 25 secs to open the doc and around 20 secs to close and quit. The original Word doc takes around 3 secs in TextEdit and 4 secs in Word to open, all times with the apps closed and timed from selecting "Open" to the file being fully displayed. The good news is that once the doc is opened both apps (Briefe, Schrieben) are very fast indeed in handling the document and lengthy scrolling, searching and global formatting changes are nearly instantaneous. While Word is very fast of course, none of the Open Office variants can do the formatting test in less than around 4 minutes and Bean hangs or crashes. So Briefe and Schrieben are pretty nifty apps, though I think Schrieben has a nicer look to it. I hadn't realized you were responsible for Pilot and quite a few other very nice apps that are on MacUpdate - and your software bundle deal is quite remarkable value. GORDON BELL Hear does not "require a restart every time"-- We are seeing a few isolated cases, where, after some amount of time (usually a few weeks or so), that Hear requires a restart. We are looking into the cause of this and once determined, can look for a bug fix for that. Its not occurring for most customers and therefore it makes it trickier to track down and reproduce. APFELZ I am no PHP Expert - I tried to cover most Languages with the default Syntax and that works also for my PHP Files - but you can write your own Definitions into a .plist file (In the MAinBundle) that will fit your needs and of corse this small tool is no replacement for TextMate etc. its just to quick access needed Snippets and drop them into Xcode or TextMate… und ein Programm, in dem eh nur englische "Fetzen" rumfliegen muss ja nicht unbedingt der deutschen Sprache mächtig sein :-)

TEKL I tried to change the syntax definition for PHP and I see that the plist already contains lot of keywords and correct definitions for variables etc. But Schnippselchen seems not to use most of them. For example variables ($variable) should be coloured different. But it does not happen if I select the php syntax scheme.

Of course, there are many good - but sometimes you just need something simple - very simple… That was the goal - as simple and a clean as possible app and a app thats able to run from a thumb drive - nothing more… Maybe the analog diary from SYZZYGY does the cooking or goes to work for him - my analog diary is a simple book with blank sheets I can always have with me… Maybe I really should think about to build in an encryption :-)

APFELZ I am a user of Mail.app of course :-) I have written this 'app' for a friend - she does not use Mail and hated it to always open Safari or to open a new window in Safari just to read her new mails - so maileR always opens with her mails and she can browse with Safari - I don't know why - but it seems that many people use this 'small browser' for their mails - I use it to open the wp-site with the latest comments on my blog :-))

MUSUBANA Well, searching does not work on my computer. Keeping the welcome entry (which contains the words ”This is a portable application.”), a search for the word ”this” returns just the same as a search for the word ”alien”: nothing. The screen even stays the same. (No ”Nothing was found” message.) The search field menu also has the custom of jumping back to ”✓Entry” after I have searched once for ”✓Content”. P’aps it works fine on Leopard. I still use Tiger.

K0GG I have done some more tests with Tagebuch. I find that if I do a search on Content, Tagebuch finds nothing and will not be able to make any other searches, either on Entry or Tag. I have to quit Tagebuch and re-launch. If my searches are only on Entry or Tags then Tagebuch will find the appropriate Entries. But should I search at any time on Content, I will need to quit Tagbuch to make any more successful searches with Entry or Tag. If my first search in Tagebuch is a Content search, Tagebuch will appear not to be able to do any searches. It seems best to avoid the Content search at the current time. My Goal is to creat very small apps and very reduced apps - so there are not many features :-) If you need something to store enrypted - take a look at my i23 The first time you start the app - you are asked to allow an internet connection - so you can say no :-) Curreny Calculator? I dont understand the need for that? I only pay in one? (Maybe I cant see the point of view?) sometimes licences come as a small file, so it should be possible to attach a file to a database entry I am working on a really good working solution...

APFELZ I really dont want to introduce Serials and Registrations, Activations and 30 Days-Demos you have to build in such things to get working like that - of course Schreiben[demo] has limitations - but hey - you can get it for the price of a Burger, it is no app like Photoshop you really have to test - it is like TextEdit in nicer and one ore two features added.. and there are more people who really like the model of no registrations and others displeasements for the honest... If this is nothing for you and you would rather be treated with serials (...) - I am really sorry - but I want change my conviction :-) If you drop me a note (via MOApp) I will send you a working version...
