APEMAN  link goes to a very confusing site that seems to be Windows centric. No link to above title.

APEMAN  Seems like it doesn't like 10.6. It's not responding properly to keys. It lags and jumps. There are other display troubles too.

APEMAN  Teabags? How quaint. Actually, it's trial an error. Cuppa only controls the time. It can't control the temp of the water, the chemicals in the water, your health that day.

Cuppa does one thing well for free.

APEMAN  Thanks to LeLe and Ron Bell for their help with the huge font trouble that was making GIMP 2.6.7 unusable.

They advised me to go to /Library/Application Support/Gimp and open gtkrc and change the last line from Lucinda Grande 936 to Lucinda Grande 12.

I restarted GIMP and everything works fine now.

Thank you Thank you Thank you.

And I thank the GIMP community for their hard work.

APEMAN  The version down the page that doesn't need X11 works. It's still a work in progress, but it works.

APEMAN  Hold off downloading 2.6.7 or just move 2.6.6. 2.6.7 took over my screen. There were no menus, and the placeholder window was enormous. I couldn't resize it. It has white text on it but was so large I couldn't figure out what it was. It brought my Mini to a halt.

I am running it on a 2gig Intel Mini 1gig RAM.

10.5.8

Now I don't have GIMP installed.

Oh well. Will download when this issue is addressed.

RON BELL  LELE is right. Quit GIMP then edit "Library/Application Support/Gimp/gtkrc" in your home directory and change "gtk-font-name" to something like Lucida Grande 12, instead of 936. Then relaunch GIMP.

TELECOMM  I can also confirm the suggestions above, go to ~/Library/Application Support/Gimp and open the file gtkrc with TextEdit. Change the last line to somethint like

gtk-font-name = "Lucida Grande 9.8"

and things will be usable again.

APEMAN  You are upset over $18 dollars?

I thought I was tight. Just be glad you've had the opportunity to use this software for free for so long.

The developer may not had any choice in the matter. Times are tough for all. I don't begrudge him a few dollars.

****.

APEMAN  It works well on Leopard. It does what it says it would do.

Thanks

I've been suffering through the loss of Solscape when I upgraded to Leopard. Sun Spotter doesn't do all that Solscape does, but that's OK. I like it.

APEMAN  Did the maintenance scrip, daily, weekly, and monthly.

If I do the script in the terminal, daily takes a while, but the other two very little time. So I tried in OnyX and it stalled in the Weekly script. After a half hour I force quit.

Also it said my hard drive needed repair when I did the smart disk option. I booted into my install disk, as they suggested, ran verify and it verified as clean.

It's still a beta, so I am not discouraged.

APEMAN  When trying to use the paint, or any brush, Gimp.app dies. Can use filters, resize, and other like menu items, its trying to add text or freehand that causes the crash.

Glad you added a fade filter function.

APEMAN  until then do this:

open a terminal and type:

periodic -daily

Hit return and wait for the prompt to return.

You can also do the periodic command with

-weekly and -monthly.

It might be a hassle, but worth doing until a Leopard compatible app is out there.

Yes Onyx is out there, and very good, but I do like Applejack.
