AMALGAMATED INC when you think about it, this one example is one of the most dense instances of developer myopia imaginable. "hey, let's spending 50,000 man hours creating an alternative email app, and provide no way for all but the most hardcore core software nerds to actually USE it." it just boggles my mind. they are developing software for themselves, effectively. AMALGAMATED INC Developers, I suggest moving IMPORTING function to the TOP of your to-do list. One would think if the development team wants ppl to be able to TRY their app, the first thing they would think of would be "hey lets give them an easy way to get their email into it!". No I don't want to root around in Library folders to copy mail directories to TRY your app. Nice idea, but no way to try it. (Version 2.0.0.22)

Company releases new features and updates frequently and is responds if you have a question. (Version 2.9.16)

AMALGAMATED INC excellent idea, i've been looking for something that does this for ages. i have about five apps i like to auto launch but having all five blast off the moment the desktop appears is nuts. a good future idea for dev, if possible, would be to be able to set a staggered sequence of launching each individually. this appears so far as i see it allows a single delay duration for all auto launched apps. good candidate for future donation-ware, thanks! THREEDEE912 I know, It's annoying how Facebook is sending takedown notices to any kind of app that syncs email addresses, screen names, or phone numbers (see: FacebookSync, FriendCSV, Plaxo). It's almost impossible to export any useful contact info from FB, without doing copy/pasting everything manually. (Version 1.1.1)

iGTD | May 31 2007 |
OLDCORPSE Your comment was to put it diplomatically "not clever" for one very simple reason: the whole methodology of GTD of David Allen is context dependent. That's a major aspect of the system. Since iGTD is based on Allen's GTD system it *must* have contexts. You may not find use for them, but to call the presence of this feature in iGTD "stupid" is itself extremely stupid - it's only doing what the GTD system says it *should* be doing - if you have a problem with that, bring it up with David Allen. (Version 1.4.2.1)

iGTD | Jun 1 2007 |
AMALGAMATED INC i've studied it on his site. maybe someday when my life is as contextually diverse as others like yourself, it will be as useful to me as you. knock yourself out, if it works for you. (Version 1.4.2.1)

iGTD | Jun 1 2007 |
CHRIS REED Beware pmoshay!. Maybe the Context Police will be sent out by Mr Allen to investigate why you lack the required contextual diversity to do 'proper' GTD. Maybe, judging by OldCorpse's reponse, they are on to you already. All fleas have little fleas upon their back to bite 'em, and little fleas have smaller fleas and so ad infinitum. Brother! Don't be a flea, live context free. (Version 1.4.2.1)

OLIPOWER I'm with this guy on this one. I've been on/off GTD since 2004, and also used iGTD, but even though my life is busy and complicated and therefore totally on target for David Allen's advice, I find GTD to be way too much effort to do, in order to have a "mind like water" as David describes perfect flow. Real "mind like water" according to zen buddhism, which is at the root of karate philosophy, is something else: You try to calm your mind, do what's at hand, trust your mind (not your "collection bucket" / inbox or PDA) just as it is, and overall be in the moment. Not be in some mac app, deferring, delegating, someday maybe, whatever, this, that, being frantic. GTD is good, but a concept to grasp, and then move on. A great book on that is marc Lesser's ZBA, Zen of Business Administration. Cheesy title, yet the best book I've ever read, and the one I'd keep if I could only keep one book. If I could keep two, I'd also keep Hagakure, the book of the samurai. It really outlines the concept of true productivity, right effort, and a whole lot else. All that being said, iGTD is a good app, and a good not too rigid implentation of GTD. I'm happy using Daylite now. A huge app, but it sure does simplify my life, because it is so flexible. (Version 1.4.2.1)

iGTD | Jun 1 2007 |
OLDCORPSE Nobody is telling anybody to do GTD. Nobody is saying GTD is good, or bad or indifferent. Nobody is saying there are or are not better time management methodologies out there. Nobody is saying you can't do GTD your own way, or the orthodox David Allen way. What I am saying is that IF you are commenting on a GTD app, then you can't act surprised that iGTD implements - SHOCK - GTD! Kinda logical, no? That's all. And GTD involves contexts. If that doesn't work for you, or if GTD doesn't work for you or whatever else you have a problem with - that has NOTHING to do with an *application that's trying to facilitate GTD*, so deal. If you have a specific complaint that it does *not* implement GTD correctly - that's a valid complaint. What is not valid, is to criticize it for implementing a GTD key concept just because GTD doesn't work for you - that's just stupid... it's not a problem with a iGTD app, it's a problem (_for you_) with GTD, and this is not the place to complain about *that* - take that up with David Allen, I don't care. (Version 1.4.2.1)

iGTD | Jun 3 2007 |
OLIPOWER Well pmoshay was not referring to the contexts being in iGTD, but simply criticising the whole GTD-concept of contextualizing everything. (Version 1.4.2.1)
