ALDORR Would you mind giving an alternative? It's easy to mock these guys, but I don't see anything else comparable out there. Sure there are free programs to make screen savers on Windows, but I haven't seen any for the Mac. It'd be great if I were wrong. (Version 3.5.7)

ALDORR Yay! Can't wait for this to iron out. I have used it on Windows for years. Now it's here and live on my favorite platform. Welcome. (Version 3.0b10)

ALDORR Yes. It can let you read and write to any NTFS partition. So if you have boot camp set up, and Windows installed on your Intel Mac, you can read and write to that partition from OS X. (Version 1.516)

Adobe Flash CS4 Professional | May 9 2007 |
ALDORR This is a vast improvement to Flash 8, interface-wise, at least. I've only been using it for a week or so, but have already noticed things that I definitely have wished for in past versions. Just a couple of things that make this upgrade worth it: "Native" Illustrator Importing - Ohmigosh, now I can pull an AI file in and Flash allows me to do all kinds of crazy stuff with it that I had never dreamed possible. "Consistent" Adobe Interface - This is kinda minor, but it makes working with Flash so much easier for both one-screeners and two-screeners. Personally, I work on a PC and a Mac, and the PC version of Flash 8 had some seriously cool docking windows that I was always Jealous of. But now the Mac version rocks the way Bob Dylan did at the Royal Albert Hall in 1966. Alright. Have fun and Flash safely. (Version 1.0)

ALDORR Notice: These three reviews are all posted within a day of each other and are all the only posts from the users. Could all three possibly be the same person? Look at the amount of paragraphs, the spacing and even the sentence structure. Highly suspicious. (Version 1.208)

IMDOUG Hmmm...are your affiliated with a competing software company? If you actually TRY iFamily for Tiger, you then will know why this very new program has generated such favorable reviews. (Version 1.208)

iFamily for Leopard | Nov 17 2006 |
KEITH WILSON Please be assured that all reviews of iFamily for Tiger were written by different people. Some of them were involved in beta testing the software and have contributed suggestions during development. The developer has only ever met one of these people face ro face in the real world. Regards, Keith Wilson (Version 1.208)

ALDORR I respect your spam-foiling techniques... because I also subscribe to them, but I must refute your claim: I have registered ALL my Roxio products and have yet to receive a SINGLE spam at that roxio@mydomain.net address. Maybe your roxio@mydomain.com address is also public somewhere? (Version 2.0.1)

Skype | Jul 14 2006 |
ALDORR I've been using Skype for over a year now on the Mac. I love the program and am looking forward to future versions. I have yet to have a single problem installing or running it on my iBook G4 or my MacBook Pro. Admittedly, the PC version is extremely well ahead of the Mac version. The main thing that ticks me off there is that there is no video support for the Mac. Doesn't it seem like there should be at least 1 program on the face of this planet that allows for easy video telephony between Apple and Windoze? Not yet. But if Skype does it they will be the first! Good luck and do it fast or else you're ruin your chance at ruling the universe! (Version 1.4.0.49)

ALDORR I haven't used this software in years. But now, when I have audio needs, I use Audacity, an open source audio editing app. (Just for those of you complaining about price.)

TechTool Deluxe | Sep 20 2005 |
ALDORR I just clicked on the link and was immediately taken to my account page, since I already registered the product. Then from that page I was given the choice to download TechTool Deluxe updates. Which I did. It works. TTD is not as feature-rich as TTP, which I own for one of my computers. TTD is on the other one. I've been using this for a long time and am very happy with it. I'm not sure what's up with your guys accounts. But give it another try. (Version 3.0.4)

Apple iTunes | Sep 9 2005 |
ALDORR Interesting, but this is a software review page, not hardware. I have no iPod, nor do I plan to get one. Admittedly, I'm also not a fat pimply nerd, but I do say iTunes has helped me groove out a lot. Enjoy iTunes for the product it is. And just because it connects to an iPod, doesn't mean that it's all about the iPod. (Version 5.0)

ALDORR Personally I love the new skin. I think it's sleaker and looks a thousand times better than "Brushed Metal" Eeeek. As far as the interface, I like the new bigger display, where you see the time to go automatically on the right. I always switch back and forth between the two, and man is that ingenious (and practical) that they have it all in one now. Simple, practical update on that side. The new, improved instant search does seem to be more instant than before. And I like being able to choose what types of media and in what text it should search. This is definitely an improvement imo. I'm enjoying every minute of it. (Version 5.0)

ANONYMOUS I think what you want to say is the new skin is SLEEKER than the old skin. And yet...that just doesn't sound right. More sleek? I think that's probably right. It's more sleek than the old skin. Sure, why not. Yes, a spelling and grammar flame! Whee! (Version 5.0)

BBEdit | Jun 22 2005 |
ALDORR They have a free version, too. It's called TextWrangler. If you only want to edit text, without styles, etc, it is very very nice. But if you want features like color coding, code menus, etc... then go with BBEdit, and there is a cross-upgrade offer, it's like 130 dollars if you already use Dreamweaver or GoLive. I don't even think they ask for proof that you own one of them. Anyway. There are other programs, if you want to edit text and make it all perty, but this one is definitely made for different things, and I've been using it for years for html and php development. X-CD-Roast | Feb 4 2005 |
ALDORR American Heritage Dictionary (according to http://dictionary.reference.com/) 1. Having a sharp inclination; precipitous. 2. At a rapid or precipitous rate: a steep rise in salaries. I suppose anonymous-dude was thinking downwardly steep as opposed to upwardly steep. But a quick look at: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/library/Grammar/Learn-curve.html gives us a little grammar lesson partaking somewhat in the history of exactly these words. This web-page denotes that the modern use of "steep learning curve" is a misunderstanding. It is apparently incorrect, but the most widely accepted understanding. So saying that the software has a steep learning curve is correct if you mean it is difficult to learn and if you are addressing a layman audience, which the macupdate readership probably is... except for a few people who are out to massacre unsuspecting grammar criminals. Skype | Dec 30 2004 |
ALDORR Sorry to hear that you want to give Skype such a bad rap, even though you haven't given the program itself an actual run. One star is a shameful attack on something based on another program. I've been using Skype for a little while now and have noticed it's the only program that takes no effort to do the internet telephone thing cross-platform. You do not need to go through complicated sign-up processes or to enter any credit card info. You just open it, put in other user's names and go at it. (Paying to call a "real" phone is another thing... which also worked for me. And no mysterious bills, or anything.) And as for the reputation thing: iChat is also great... And tell me, how much spyware have you experienced on the Mac? Because it's a Mac, spyware is something pretty unlikely. And if it is, it would throw a bad light on Apple, too. So let's pray that Apple's reputation stays on par here, too. I'm not rating, right now, cause I'm still giving this program a chance. It hasn't let me down, yet, though. So I'd give it a try, if I were you. (Version 0.4)

Cyberduck | Dec 29 2004 |
ALDORR I'm psyched about this product. I kept feeling like there weren't any ftp apps out there that were to my liking. I even almost preferred CLI to GUI cause of the other programs. Then I found Cyberduck and it was even free. Sweet. Well, all I'm saying is thanks, great job and kutgw! (Version 2.4b1)
