Type: ReviewDate: 11 May 2008 23:15Looks great, nice interface and a host of content...
Pity that it can't play the very content that it hosts.
Save for the cooking channels every other channel and program you try to watch is either unavailable or the 'format is not compatible with Adobe Air'.
Huh? Then why on earth does it feature content that it can't play?
Shame really 'cause I was looking forward to Star Trek, MTV Cribs, The Daily Show etc, etc.
Oh well.

Type: ReviewDate: 6 May 2008 11:30I've a Macbook and an eMac. I use Spaces on my Macbook and was looking for a similar app for my eMac.
All I need is the option to allocate the main menu to the middle mouse button (like Spaces).
Click the middle button, choose a desktop and that's it!
I've tried all of the Virtual Desktop application on MacUpdate and not one of them offers the simple choice of bringing up the main menu (desktops) with a mouse button... not one!
They insist on hotkeys... This is why I stick to Spaces.

Type: ReviewDate: 6 May 2008 11:13Crikey!
Very badly written and executed application.
Very slow to switch desktops (you see your icons disappearing one by one and the whole process takes about 8-10 seconds).
No intiutive or sensible way (mouse button/hotkey) to switch desktops... instead you get a window on the screen.
I logged out with this app running and logged back in and for some reason it started up the Welcome Assistant. Dear oh dear, oh dear.

Same problem here as in VirtueDesktops.
Doesn't exist in this app either.

Type: ReviewDate: 6 May 2008 10:57I've a Macbook and an eMac. I use Spaces on my Macbook and was looking for a similar app for my eMac.
Found this. Lots of options. Loads of user configurable tid-bits... and yet.
All I need is the option to allocate the main menu to the middle mouse button (like Spaces).
Click the middle button, choose a desktop and that's it!
But despite all the options and preferences... this simple feature does not exist in VirtueDesktops. Like Quicksilver it seems to be made for people who rather use the keyboard.
Pity, it's got so much to offer and yet can't do the simple things.

Type: ReviewDate: 6 May 2008 10:12Brilliant little application.
It's replaced my reliance on DropCopy... which is still fairly good in my opinion.
One thing I noticed is that Drag and Drop from Tiger/Leopard machines to a Jaguar machine and visa versa doesn't seem to work. The option is activated but greyed out in Jaguar.
All in all a great piece of software, and a decent alternative to Remote Desktop if you're the Macs you want to control are closeby.

Just great for quickly checking out an audio, no matter what the file format. The effects are really useful.
I used to use Taply, but have now moved over to TooPlayer... that said Taply is still very good.
Keep up the great work and thanks for making it free.

Type: CommentsDate: 29 Apr 2008 06:20I'm a bit confused here. The app used to work but now I can't seem to get anything out of it.
It is faster which is a good thing.
The implementation of choosing your icon size is good, unfortunatley that's about it.
For a start it simply does not copy the files - even though it says so. It only states 'connecting to the remote computer'. Press 'ok' and it states 'logging in' and then 'copy completed'. Of course nothing is copied and there's no progress window.
I wanted to like this app, but I've tried dozens of times to no avail. Finally I gave up...and deleted it. Next!

Type: ReviewDate: 27 Apr 2008 20:45The best FTP app I've ever used. Great interface, simple to use and works very well.
The support for Bluetooth and Amazon S3 is a good idea. I can scrap the silly JungleDisk software and don't even need to use Apple's built in Bluetooth File exchange (though sometimes it is handy and often more usefull).
I'm pleased.

Type: ReviewDate: 23 Apr 2008 09:29Great app. Does what it says and works fine.
I think Macsintx & Person1229 should notice that a Macbook or Macbook Pro is part of the requirement for this app, which is why it displays wrongly on their iBook G4.
![]()
Type: TroubleshootingDate: 22 Apr 2008 10:42That's pity. Stopped working so I thought I'd go to the Developer's site to see if I could download a new/updated copy.
Here's what it said:
"eCheck is not compatible with Leopard: Development Discontinued
Sunday, 23rd Mar, 2008 at 4:59 am
eCheck is not compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), and as a result the development of this widget has been discontinued."
I'll continue to use it on my PPC.

Type: ReviewDate: 21 Apr 2008 04:13No. The window's there and you can't remove it.

Also can't access my account and the developers don't answer mails.

Type: ReviewDate: 15 Apr 2008 17:15Very good app, though I think the price is a bit steep.
Could do with a 'refresh' function either manually or at pre-determined times by the user.
![]()
Type: ReviewDate: 15 Apr 2008 09:05Works well on Tiger or Leopard.
Upgrades automatically to Amigo 1.0.5 (the updated version of this app) which has a smaller logo and thus takes up less space in the menu bar.
You can upgrade again to version 1.2.0 but then it asks for $20 for a search bar and hot-key access. I'd advise to stay with version 1.0.5.
All in all a good app.

Type: Hint/TipDate: 13 Apr 2008 06:36Soulslave,
Simply close the application from the dock menu instead of the menubar. That way you get no popups.

Type: ReviewDate: 13 Apr 2008 06:35I find this app really usefull. Perfect for changing the dimensions of photos on-the-fly for websites etc.
It's quick, small and does what it says.
As for the Adverts that pop up on closing... don't panic! Simply close the application from the dock menu instead of the menubar.

Type: CommentsDate: 10 Apr 2008 09:23Hi Mudflapper,
I did install Leopard months back but to be honest the 1GB RAM, G4 700Mhz eMac was still too slow.
Also iDvD was broken beyond repair regardless of re-installations. The real pain was my old but trusted HP printer simply didn't work under Leopard, despite installing all the drivers (a well known problem according to internet forums).
So I reinstalled Tiger on my eMac & kept Leopard on the MacBook and all's good.
![]()
Type: TroubleshootingDate: 9 Apr 2008 08:11Indeed Macs with Leopard installed only display intermitently... sometimes they do, other times not.
This means you have to use the app from the Leopard machine only.
Also whenever adding a folder, the app states that it's going to shut down to 'reload the modules'. However it only hangs and you have to shut it down yourself.
![]()
Type: ReviewDate: 7 Apr 2008 14:49The update is a little better. It now works fine on Tiger AND Leopard. I agree with the post below as to the slowness of scrolling in the main window.
I still think the icons are overly huge and it would be nice to be able to configure/delete the application icons you dont use, instead of having to scroll (slowly) down to the one you want. Smaller things like a GOOD translation would help.
Still, that said I still use it and find it satisfactory.
For simple syncs it's worth using.

Type: CommentsDate: 4 Apr 2008 01:12I'm gonna have to swap to Yojimbo. Why? Well the database has changed in such a way that any SOHO product from v.7 upwards no longer reads or works with the database of lower versions. I didn't realise this after upgrading to 7 on my Intel-based MacBook running Leopard. My other machine is a PPC eMac running Tiger, which incidentally cannot run v.7
One of the main reasons I liked this suite of apps was for the network feature and the server-based database... Well now that's gone...
CHOICES:
1. Upgrade my eMac to Leopard (can't 'cause my eMac is not powerful enough)
2. Downgrade v.7 to v.6 on my MacBook (database still wont work as it's ireparably changed by v.7)
3. Buy a new Mac and install Leopard (yeah, right)
4. Keep the SOHO suite and make all changes manually every time.
5. Try another application... (which I did)
I still think it's a really good suite SOHO Organiser, it's just a pity they behave in weird ways. So I'll give Yojimbo & Contactizer Pro a spin.

Type: ReviewDate: 1 Apr 2008 15:48I like the idea, however the Bonjour feature simply doesn't work.
The problem is that the only machine that shows up in Ubertragen is the same one I'm sending from, which doesn't make sense 'cause other apps can work fine over Bonjour.
I'll agree with HERVé 5. I also use DropCopy to send files... much easier. For Bluetooth I use the Apple's built in service.

Type: CommentsDate: 1 Apr 2008 08:22SOHO Organiser 7.0 has a number of improvements that I really like.
However I have Tiger on one machine and Leopard on another plus SOHO Organiser on both... Both machines ran version 6.5.4 and I used to be able to network across my macs - info entered into one machine would show up on the other etc. "Great", I thought.
Enter SOHO 7.0 which, incidentally only runs on Leopard. If you upgrade from SOHO 6.5.4 and use SOHO 7.0 to open your old database then the DB will be irreparably changed. The result? The DB is rendered useless for anything under version 7 and can no longer be used by SOHO 6.5.4 or older.
This is a sneaky way of forcing everyone who uses the network feature and uses Leopard to update to SOHO 7.0 - as you'll HAVE to upgrade ALL your machines. At the same time screwing everyone else over who happens to have the a set-up like my own. (ie. older machines and/or different OS's on different machines).
However, as we all know this is common software company behaviour.
So now I can no longer network as I used to, 'cause SOHO 7.0 wont talk to SOHO 6.5.4.
CHOICES:
1. Downgrade to 6.5.4 and hope my backed-up DB still works.
...if it doesn't then..
2. Buy a new Mac that can run Leopard and install SOHO 7.0.
3. Use another application.
I'll downgrade. No big deal for me. Chronos should take care 'cause they alienate their customers and judging by the posts a good percentage of their once loyal customers go for the 3rd choice.

In the beginning you were able to send unlimited SMS messages if you lived Stateside (I don't). International customers received 5 free SMS's per day... not bad.
Then the international freebies got dropped but the cost of the texts (240 for $20) is pretty impressive and I've been using it regularly... until today.
Locked out of my widget and account. Terminated for reasons unknown. Bit weird actually, since I've loads of credit on this thing. An email and/or explanation would have been nice...

Type: ReviewDate: 14 Feb 2008 07:00The app is well made and the eye candy is attractive.
I tested it out but could'nt find a place for it. I use 2 PIMs to organise calendars, tasks, contacts and projects accross my small home network. While testing this app I found it superfluous.
It seems to be made for people who use iCal and AddressBook. If you use any other of the PIM out there then this app is pretty much useless. I agree with Dana on the post below. It's a pretty front end to 2 existing apps... however it's not enough to make it usefull.
I'm not quite sure who this software is targeted to...
Still, judging by all the 5 stars those who find it useful seem to like it.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 3 Feb 2008 17:32Just discovered this little gem.
Strange thing is that it crashes/quits every time I use it on my PPC eMac running Tiger but is as stable as a rock on my Macbook Intel running Leopard.
???
Hopefully an update or so soon... last one was 5 years ago.
![]()
Type: ReviewDate: 2 Feb 2008 20:23After my review last year I had another go at this app. I actually use both Contactizer and SOHO.
I use SOHO for the calendar function, the notes feature and it's easy networking accross computers. I use Contactizer for it's address book function, GTD feature and profect managment.
That being said Contactizer is actually a very good app indeed, well laid out, easy to use, stable, intuitive. Great GTD manager etc. It's just a shame you can only sync via .Mac. If you have no .Mac account you're screwed. I don't know why they insist on doing that.
I'll give it 4 stars because it deserves it. Like SOHO it gets most things perfect and falls short of a couple of important ones. SOHO's shortcomings are a decent GTD and Contacts manager plus it's incessant crashing. Contactizer needs to use the OpenBase DB system and could use a notebook system built in. All in all it's pretty good.

Type: ReviewDate: 31 Jan 2008 21:45I've Safari 2 on my eMac and Safari 3 on my MacBook.
I accidentally installed Cooliris on Safari 3.
Now I constantly get a mini preview window on every link AND word the mouse hovers over.
The preview window is always the same: "can't find entry for..."
I've uninstalled, re-installed and uninstalled again. I've used AppZapper and gone through the entire set of Libraries to remove any references in the Input Manager folders etc. Restarted yet still the damn windown appears.
Emptying the cache and resetting Safari doesn't work either.
Reinstalling Safari is not an option since there is no stand alone installer.
Pile of crap!

Type: ReviewDate: 30 Jan 2008 18:15Can't say I'm impressed.
First it took multiple times before the app recognised my Huawei 220 USB modem. Kept stating that no device was found, which made no sense since Launch2Net actually launched every time I connected the modem.
Eventually it worked. Indeed it is fully automatic, though whether it has those settings or simply took them from my network settings I'll never know.
2 points: firstly the menubar item does not appear, even though I ticked the option, restarted, cleared other items from my menubar etc. This was a big 'no' for me.
Furthermore the uninstall option I used twice simply leaves all the files intact. I had to remove them with AppZapper.
For now I'll stick with Cheetah Watch which works, is free and does what is says. Will keep an eye on this though... perhaps in a year or so it will mature.

Type: ReviewDate: 26 Jan 2008 02:40The whole idea of Torrents is sharing. This app with it's 'take what u want and go' type interface seems like its made for people who have no idea of what a torrent is or what it really means. Nice interface, however the apps that it launches are set - you can change app that launches but not the name or the icon.
Decent app but I personally prefer RapidoStart.

Type: ReviewDate: 10 Nov 2007 07:28Well, that's the end of that!
Since my review a year ago the software did improve a little. However due to changes made by Google (I believe) it can no longer do it's job.
When opening the app it constantly asks if you wish default labels added to your disk...(even if you already have them). Click "Yes" and it crashes. Click "No" and the dialog box stays there permanently... meaning you have to force quit.
That was on Tiger. I've upgraded to 10.5 and it's just the same on Leopard. Shame really, this app had so much potential and promise - just read the posts - but is now just a dead Dodo.
Perhaps someone will reanimate it or create a new GUI that actually works this time.
What to do in the meantime......?
Well, OmniDrive has a Mac client that works and gives you a 1GB account free. Also I've moved over to JungleDisk - not free but very cheap. Both apps show the disk in your finder so it's pretty convenient.

Type: CommentsDate: 10 Nov 2007 05:54This application was my regular player for all .swf & .flv files. However it is broken in OS 10.5 Leopard.
Haven't been able to get it to work since I upgraded.
Doesn't play and has to be force quitted every time.
I searched for any other player and came across flvThing here on MacUpdate.
Fantistic, I was surprised. It's small, uncluttered (no mini viewers and playlist windows all over the screen) and even though it's over a year old actually works on Leopard no problem. Oh yeah, and it's free unlike this broken one that I had to pay for!

Type: CommentsDate: 9 Nov 2007 08:40Indeed a good app. Have had it for quite a few years now.
Just upgraded to Leopard and the interface pop-ups are looking a little frayed. Hopefully an upgrade might come along soon.

Type: ReviewDate: 7 Nov 2007 23:23DO NOT USE. YOUR MAIL WILL NEVER ARRIVE!
Downloaded and installed it on my new laptop with Leopard installed.
Made the necessary changes and received the 'installation success' message.
Just to be sure I sent a number of mails to and from each of my accounts to myself.
I waited.... and waited... and waited.
Where those mails are only God knows 'cause they never reached their destination even though they are in the sent folder.
I sent some more to myself using my trusted ISP mail server and lo and behold they arrived.
Go figure...

Type: CommentsDate: 7 Nov 2007 20:54Damn right it's no Quicksilver.... and a good thing too!
Unlike Quicksilver I don't have to memorize every app on my computer and then type it in to find it.
Iconic browsing is much easier and you only have the apps that you want/need. Plus it doesn't take up valuable space in the menu bar AND furthermore your precious Quicksilver is broken in Leopard, so for me and other Leopard users it's useless.
RapidoStart is good work...keep it up guys.

Type: ReviewDate: 7 Nov 2007 18:09I used to use Palm Desktop... till they stopped updating and caring! I'm currently trialing this software and have to agree with the post below.
It's a very good application. It beats iCal hands down and has far more professional features. Simple to use, good integration. I'm using Leopard and Mail's new To Do List feature integrates perfectly with Soho Organzier.
I've tried Daylite and must say it is more feature-laden, however this works fine for those who don't need so many bells and whistles.
Min points are: takes a while to go offline when using the network feature. Also crashes every now and then - not sure why.
The Soho Notes feature is really good. Partly because it's unobtrusive (has a tap at the side of the screen). I used to use SideNote but this is far better since it is highly customizable and the Network Feature means I have the same content on my laptop and desktop. Also the clipboard feature means that I no longer needed to use CuteClips.
The Print Essentials app that's bundled with this software is ok, though I'd prefer that they bundled a GTD/Project Planner instead such as in Daylite.
At the moment I use iGTD which is decent but lacks the LAN network feature (you have to use .Mac).
All in all a good app at a good price... Good work guys - now all we need is a GTD/Project Planner!

Type: ReviewDate: 4 Nov 2007 06:35Ok. This app was really useful.... in Tiger. However I only got 2 weeks of use out of it.
I upgraded to Leopard and WiFind is now broken, simply does not work at all in the new OS. Any chance of an update from the Developer?

Type: ReviewDate: 23 Sep 2007 17:31So, the developer informed me about the Intel bug, fixed it and I've given it another go.
Seems fine. Perhaps it is more efficient than SMART Reporter but that is something that has to be tested on a failing drive with both systems up and running.
I'd buy this IF it was made into a menubar item.
Otherwise I know I'll forget to launch it and I've already far too many windows open and startup items already.
All in all not a bad item, so I'll review my 'review'.

Type: ReviewDate: 23 Sep 2007 17:04Well, a good attempt.
It's fast and stable, looks good.
Now just need to add some basic necessities such as preferences, ability to set a home page and importing of bookmarks etc.
Keep it up... it'll get there.

Type: ReviewDate: 20 Sep 2007 20:39Well, I DID try.
Downloaded and opened on my Macbook... crashed.
Opened it again... crashed, and again, crashed, and again... crashed. "It could be my Mac" I thought.
I think I'll try SMART Reporter. Downloaded, opened it and hey! It works. Sooo, it wasn't my Mac and the paid app crashes while the free app works without a hitch. Am I missing something here?
