Type: TroubleshootingDate: 29 Aug 2006 16:36Consistently causes a panic when trying to install a guest OS on my Mac Pro (dual 3Ghz).
As it has worked fine on every other intel mac I've tried it on, it obviously has only been coded for Core Duo intel-mans, and not the new Xeon chips :-/

Type: ReviewDate: 29 Apr 2006 12:34I've been using Handbrake for almost two years now and it keeps getting better. Using it now as a Universal app on my MacBook, it is incredible. On my 1Ghz PowerBook, I was happy with a 15fps rip rate; now I am getting 58fps average on my rips. Awesome!

One, if you own VirtualPC 6 or 7, you probably already own a Windows license. Borrow a friends disk and install using your key. I don't think this would violate any TOS as you obviously can't install VPC (made by MS now) on an Intel Mac, so you wouldn't be installing it on two seperate systems.
Two, I had to clone my mac partition to an external, wipe my boot drive, and then transfer my clone back over and rerun boot camp, Windows installer and all the other day. I won't claim to know why, but immediately after downloading Apples Windows XP iDisk utility and trying to access my iDisk (thinking this would be a great way to transfer stuff between the two enironments), Windows crashed. Couldn't get it back up. Tried to boot off the Windows XP CD, but that caused a forced restart also. From within OS X and using Boot Camp, I repartitioned my disk as one volume, but that failed. The error it gave me suggested that I back up my data, erase the drive, and reinstall everything. Which is what I did. But it was a pain, so don't try to use the iDisk utility. Use a USB keychain or something ;-)

Type: ReviewDate: 13 Apr 2006 18:38This update seems great, but I must ask - where is my intel support?! Apple had said it would be intel-enabled by the end of March...sigh...the price drop is nice though.

Type: ReviewDate: 7 Apr 2006 02:31Comment first: Format the PC's partition as NT rather than FAT, this will help protect your mac partition from nasty windows bugs. Use something like iDisk to move data between the two easily. Also, probably a good idea to release this now before too many people mess up their cpu's trying to install using the *ahem* unauthorized method.
Review: Amazing. I'm spoilt, I have a MBP, and can use this, but it is perfect! I've been able to update the firmware on my phone and load new maps onto my GPS, two things I've been grumbling to myself about not being able to do for ages. Apple will release an iSight driver for boot camp soon, hopefully; crashing the OS is funny, but probably not good. For a product tagged as a beta, it runs better than Safari did in 1.0 ;-)
P.S. - I am basing ease of use on the Apple side of this, and not on how easy/hard it is to install Windows...

Type: ReviewDate: 16 Feb 2006 13:44I should preface this by saying that I agree with others, this is waaaaayyy late in arriving. And no, it isn't TiVoToGo. But, it is a step in the right direction, if they finally have focused on updating this to work with 10.4, it shows that development is back for the Mac.
As for this update, it works well, does what I was able to do before I upgraded months and months ago to 10.4. I missed this functionality as I often would show my iPhotos through TiVo when showing them to friends, and used to stream my iTunes using my TiVo all the time. Now I have a MacMini and an LCD TV, so I really don't need either of these features anymore, but they do work, and I am glad to finally seem some development for the Mac from the TiVo-team. TiVoToGo really, really soon - please?!
