AAPPLE  Note that this was free until just recently. Further, it looks like every minor upgrade will be costing $5.00. The page says the cost is $7, but it is really $10.

Sorry, I mistook this for Virtual Box.

AAPPLE  Update, while automatic from an installed and licensed copy nevertheless requires you to re-enter your serial number. Booting from the eDrive, this information is not available, so you are out of luck unless you wrote it down on a piece of paper. The DVD does not boot on a MacPro. When I complained, they could not understand why I would want to. (So why did they make it!

LicenseKeeper

*....

AAPPLE  If it has instructions it might be useful. As it is, it does not do as advertised: namely automatically find license keys from my e-mail archives. It has a nice lookup interface, but all I care about is finding serial numbers. The amount of effort apparently required to update the data is just as much as editing a text file, and that is free!

LicenseKeeper

JON TRAINER  LicenseKeeper has two phases of data detection:

1. At Application Import, LicenseKeeper will try to determine the app name, icon, version, publisher, website, and a few other details.

2. When attaching emails to an application entry, LicenseKeeper will scan the email's text for serial numbers, registered email address, and other purchase related information.

HMURCHISON  I find that LicenseKeeper grabs the serial number about 75 % of the time correctly. The only problems that I find are when you have say an email from a bundle that contains a plethora of serial numbers. I don't expect a $20 app to have the kind of Artificial Intelligence to accurately pull out the correct serial number in this case.

Sure I could put all my licenses in a spreadsheet or even on a pad of paper for free but LK allows me to to agregate not just serial numbers but whatever files I want to attach be they PDF or a custom license file or more. I can't do as easily with a spreadsheet or text file. I also love the ability to refresh the apps list and pull the latest version numbers.

AAPPLE  Found it for free and tried it on one file. Did exactly what I needed... convert a static swf file to a png file.

Adobe Reader

AAPPLE  Oddy, I double checked a number of times and this update (9.1.1) runs but the Adobe Reader 9 application cannot be selected. Is it because I am on 10.5.7? The main site says thru 10.5.6...

MISHA  Are you sure you don't already have 9.1.1? I'd try deleting Adobe Reader completely and re-installing 9.1, then try the 9.1.1 update on that fresh copy. Might be a permissions thing. Who knows.

AAPPLE  This program looks like the emperor's clothes to me. Everybody says it is wonderful but I cannot figure out how to make it work and there are no instructions at all either on-line nor with the program. Very strange.
