Thank you for the response. Unfortunately, I don't have a preferences file! The program didn't make it that far. The error appears while the splash screen is still displayed, before it asks me for the port to use.

Any other ideas? I really would like to give this a try.

I should have mentioned this is in 10.5.3 on a MacBook Pro, and that I have created the serial port as indicated in the ReadMe.

This looks interesting - unfortunately when I run the program, shortly after the splash screen appears, I get a dialog that says "An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down."

Any ideas about what could be wrong? Thank you.

This is not true. FlickrExport was open source software until version 2.0 was released, and the source code for 1.x can still be downloaded: http://connectedflow.com/flickrexport/source/

This is my preferred Mac port of Emacs: it is frequently updated, comes with many packages, and stays true to the original Emacs.

This is a very useful application. On a Mac it suffers from "not looking like a Mac app" (as others have commented) because it is implemented in Java, but in exchange it is cross-platform, so you can easily share mindmaps with users using Windows or Linux. It has a bit of a learning curve, but once you get over it, you can quickly and easily use it to brainstorm, to create outlines, to plan projects or papers, etc.

(I accidentally posted this at the top level as well)

viva: dragging emails from any folder works for me - I normally do it from my "Unread" smart folder, and I have even dragged emails from my "Sent" folder.

I would suggest posting about your problem in the Things forums at http://culturedcode.com/things/forums/ - the developers participate regularly, and they could probably help you better than we could here.

I believe that dragging links from Mail.app only works in Leopard (Mail.app 3.x). If you are using Tiger, this could be the problem.

I have created a problem ticket for this: http://code.google.com/p/blacktree-secrets/issues/detail?id=33

This is very nice. It would be great if the hotkey could also be set as a toggle between two settings (otherwise you always have to use the menu to get back to portrait mode).

Currently I use an AppleScript that toggles between portrait/landscape settings on my external monitor, and which I trigger using QuickSilver. If the keystroke could be used as a toggle, I would ditch my current solution and use this program.

Really nice timer program. The system-wide hotkey makes it very easy to set up new alarms, and the ability to handle multiple timers simultaneously is very useful, as is the variety of ways in which the notifications can be made.

It boggles my mind that some people can be so rude and demanding with developers that offer their work for free.

Pester is the best timer program that I have found, it does what it's meant to do and I personally found it very easy to use.

In addition to what IanWeir wrote, there's the included Grab.app (in /Applications/Utilities/) for grabbing screenshots of portions/whole screen, timed screenshots, etc.

This release of LCC for some reason causes Growl notifications to stop being displayed. The fix is to remove /Library/InputManagers/LCC Scroll Enhancer Loader, then log out and back in, Growl notifications will work again. This removed Logitech's "enhanced scrolling" abilities, but I haven't noticed any difference in practice.

One feature request: it'd be nice to be able to change the iMovie icon as well :-)

This is one of those "useless but extremely neat" applications, that may just brighten your day a little bit. Good job!

The download path for 0.52r122 (http://homepage.mac.com/nycdewd/.Public/Virtue_0.52r122.zip) is quite different from 0.52r117 (http://virtuedesktops.info/files/Virtue_0.52r117.zip). Call me paranoid, but is there a reason for this?

Chip - version 0.4.0 includes the feature you requested :-)

Epiphyte - that sounds like a possible explanation, particularly because from all the reports I have received, it seems like a rather erratic problem. I will try to experiment with very large files and see if I can reproduce it.

I cannot believe anyone would pay for this. It borders on the unethical to charge for this software, which offers no protection at all. All it does is rename the file to be protected to start with a period, which in Unix means it will not be shown in normal directory listings, but offers NO protection whatsoever. Try this: make a file on your desktop "invisible" using this software. Now open the Terminal, and type the following commands:

cd Desktop;

ls -a

Scroll up (if necessary), and you will see your file there, with the original name preceded by a dot. You can type "open .filename" (replacing filename as appropriate) to open the file.

If you want to have more protection, set the permissons on the file so only you can access it (open the file's Info dialog, and look at the "Ownership and permissions" tab). That at least will really prevent other users from accessing it. If you want to have even more protection, encrypt it using File Vault, which also comes with MacOS X.
