WARCHILD13  It now launches but there are no preferences and no way to enter the server info.

$20 is a lot to ask for a crippled beta that is this far from functioning even poorly.

WARCHILD13  Look F dude. Grow up or at least try and learn to be an adult. Your childish suppositions and vague accusations are tedious, boring and plain old stupid.

As to CandyBar it is disabled in Leopard with no fix other than a 25 buck upgrade. This was clearly a greed or at least profit driven tactic with no concerns for the users who supported your product. It is a disgrace and would not be tolerated in any but the software field.

The stripped feature was the only one I used and that was to replace icons within apps. I do it by hand now, CandyBar was worth it to me only for the convenience.

Pixadex still works.

The only Panic app I still use is Unison, which I did pay for. I expect you'll kludge that soon enough. It has been unreliable in the past. The serial number protection being incredibly harsh - its the only app that still flashes purchase in the menu bar while it waits to load up.

There are good Mac software developers out there who don't abandon their customer base with every OS upgrade. I support them and will continue to do so.

WARCHILD13  I'm sorry you feel the need to support what to me is tantamount to theft. Your logic is absurd and this overtly emotional "not liking where the Mac Community is heading" is immature. You codify that with your inane name calling.

Freeloaders who pay for a package and then are offered no sensible or remotely fair path to upgrading are not freeloaders, they are victims.

I paid for a few other Panic programs and plan to find suitable replacements for them.

Combining twp programs and stripping features from both of them to effect the merger is not an upgrade in my mind.

Disabling the old paid for Candybar so that it is totally worthless is evil and undoes all the good will Panic had engendered in me in one fell swoop.

WARCHILD13  This is a total ripoff.

Not only do they jack the price ridiculously they make no effort to make amends to the fools, like myself, who bought Pixadex and Candy Bar within the year!

Pixadex worked fine, by the way, I used it most of the time outside of CandyBar.

Incorporating both apps accomplishes nothing, in fact its a detriment.

Candybar 3 loses functions that were in 2. There is no longer the option to change the icons within Applications. (Such as the aiff icon inside iTunes or QuickTime)

This is a nasty way to treat customers. I'll not do business with them again.

CABEL  Thanks for your feedback!

If you bought CandyBar within the last two months we'll be happy to provide a free upgrade. Otherwise, the upgrade discount from CandyBar 2 to CandyBar 3 is almost half of your original purchase price ($12.95), which we feel is a pretty fair discount, but we're open to feedback as always.

Additionally, we removed the "Application" functionality from CandyBar 3 because of Leopard incompatibility concerns. We'd keep it if we felt we could do it safely -- but at this time we don't.

Finally, we feel that the integration between Pixadex and CandyBar is a huge deal, and not at all a "detriment" -- when you use the application for a while, we think you'll agree!

EMURKS  In the previous comment by the developer he indicated that the upgrade from cb2 to cb3 was only $12.95, but it is listed as $24 from the website... Which is it?

Also where's the love for those who bought and have version 1 of each product? No discount for them?

CABEL  I was referring to the original CandyBar 2 purchase price, which was $12.95. The upgrade price for CandyBar 3 is $25 -- essentially, the full price of CB3 minus (almost) half of the original CB2 price.

Allowing CandyBar 1 owners to upgrade to CandyBar 3 directly (skipping version 2) for the same price seemed unfair for those people who had supported us with CandyBar 2. Since CB1 was release a very long time ago, and I believe was even cheaper than CB2, we thought an upgrade path would be difficult to justify.

Like I said, upgrade paths are never easy... but I truly appreciate your thoughts.
