Virtual Dashboard

VIRTUAL_DASHBOARD_SUPPORT  TELMAH was correct, my support email address was missing from the product web site, and also for some reason it was missing in the documentation (pdf). This has been fixed on the Web site, and this will be fixed in the document and re-released very soon. But as for the rest of his review, I take great exception to this. For one Virtual Dashboard was not made to function like the way they are trying to make it function. I don't know how there dashboard functions at all putting them in different folders and removing them from the Widgets folder. According to Apple the Dashboard should not be used like this. I have talked to Apple Engineers over a year ago about this, and they said it should not work. As for there apps reloading that just does not happen. What they where seeing was the Dock reloading when Virtual Dashboard was starting. This is so we can get info on the Widgets in the Dashboard layer. I do take responsibility that this bug occurred, and I will look into making this work somehow. But I don't have a lot of faith that I can make this work, as the Dashboard should not even work like this. So please give Virtual Dash board a chance. Thanks.

I am sorry that the link on my products web site was left off this last update of it. It was an oversight on my part. It also should have been in the documentation but it is not there either for some reason. I don't blame you for being mad about this and wish to apologize. The web site has already been fixed and the documentation will be fixed ASAP.

But I do take exception to your review. Virtual Dashboard was not made to work in the way you are trying to make it work. It look's in a certain place as Apple has defined where Dashboard widgets should be. This is not to say that I should have not been prepared for this to happen that is my fault. But the Dashboard itself was not made to function that way. I asked this of an Apple Engineer about 1 1/2 years ago, and he told me at that time, that he would be surprised if the Dashboard functioned at all if the widgets where not in the top Widget directory. I will look into this though, as maybe it has changed in 10.5. But the other thing you talk about is your apps reloading. What you are seeing is the Dock reloading not the apps, the apps did not quit at all, just the dock. Unfortunately that is the way this works, it is not ideal, but until Apple supplies some kind of Dashboard API to get info in Dashboard items I have to quit the dock in order to get the location of the widget on the screen. If you would like to talk more about this please email me at support@bitblasters.com
