CoreDuoTemp

VIRION  I'd suggest MenuTemperature but I think it uses SpeedIt as well, which might be the problem. SpeedIt was only released for 10.4 and they only mentioned a 10.5 release being delayed way back when the GM copies first shipped for Leopard, with nothing added after the 10.4.10 release on InCrew's site.

The only other way I know to read system temps is with CoolBook, which reads system temp, speed, and voltage; registered it also controls voltage and clock settings. You might have some luck as the developer released updates right up to 10.5.2 so it's at least been maintained.

VIRION  Well I would imagine he might be American (though some people in other countries use Fahrenheit despite Celsius being official), it's clearly stated that he was looking for U.S. localization, which is a moot point as it was supported in the options.

If he were still looking for something with automatic detection, MenuTemperature supports automatic adjustment according to International Preferences.

HVC Color Composer Pro

VIRION  Looks like a great color control plugin, can't wait to try it. As a designer I've always been frustrated by the limited and somewhat crude default color controls and this looks to more than address every angle and then some!

VIRION  Biofilm is quite intriguing, and Mountain Tanks is a nice take on a classic. I'll have to have a go at them before the deal is up!

VIRION  Hmm, dunno if my other comment went through, but with four spare systems sitting around this would be perfect. They're a mix of macs and windows systems so I could even pick and choose!

VIRION  leifh:

He might only own a copy for Windows, or wish to avoid the abysmal Rosetta performance Photoshop has natively. Running x86-native code is much speedier in many cases, and this might be one such case.

VIRION  You can change app to display Fahrenheit and even Kelvin and it should display it in the menu bar (how I most commonly use the program) after applying.

ShredIt X

VIRION  maconnect:

Sounds more like he's referring to shredding free space, which requires filling free space first. It's different from shredding only the trash and should technically wipe anything in that 'empty' area but will also take a long time if the free space is, obviously, quite large.

VIRION  neutralzone:

I believe Darwine is working on just that issue, trying to run using wine ported to PPC and an x86 emulator for support (QEMU.) I've only tried it on my MBP, but now that I'm reminded of it I'll have to dig out the G3 and see how things are going.

VueScan
Nov 9 2006

VIRION  Was the scanner one properly supported on OS X in the first place? I know my scanner detects in the os, but isn't supported in VueScan, nor in any scanning suite for OS X or Linux. As for your post, well the support listed in this release has the Quanto added 'for USB'. You probably should have told your customer to wait to see if the forthcoming support would be implemented for their interface type before buying the license, or at least to see if it was to their liking.

VIRION  mac_xcoder:

Actually, this app is 16k smaller than Quicktime FS and on a MBP, though they both launch quick, being universal it actually does launch faster, on the first bounce instead of after three. Your app is nice and compact/tidy, but being Universal is good, even for small programs that run for a second.

That being said, I'd like to see a streamlined, smaller window option, so once you kow what to do you can reduce it to a litle bar or even just one button you can put in the corner.
