Adobe InCopy CS4

TRASHIE  For a web site? This is a writers tool who goes to print on a deadline it links into InDesign. For a web I can't see it being a great help unless you write in a team.

Great application that lets writers and designers work closer in the print world.

Great application but not much use for drafting I would still use just a small text editor for that.

On web site your better implementing a content management system and writing directly into it out of a text editor.

Great application from Adobe if your doing print publication with a writing team and design team.

***..

TRASHIE  Firstly I like this application it is a good idea. But it seems to be a bit much to pay for when there is similar free ways. I think the developers would have got more uptake and kudos for future work by making this free. It just is not impressive enough to pay for IMO.

If it was free it would get very popular very quickly. It still needs some work but it is such a small code base paying for it is almost bizarre. It is so small the developers could improve it more and more and get well known without much effort. So when they look for a big programming job Oh I did this Oh you use it bang big job. Which is why a lot of small software is free as it is business card software for the developers rather than true open source thinking often.

Yet it has the Mac thinking even simple things make them easier.

I like to use RAR for Mac directly (that I did pay for). But there are many FREE was better than this. The only way this will ever compete is to become free. Donation ware would probably make them more money.

Good but a pointless entry into a market saturated with as good free tools.

WireShark

TRASHIE  X11 thing is a bit of a pain for OSX as X11 never works as nice on OSX as Linux. Can't tunnel some X11 stuff on OSX at all. Of course X11 has it's benefits even on OSX and I can see why they keep it this way.

This is more for people trying to check network security and administrate networks than anything else so I can't see it being that popular mainstream anyway X11 or not.

Most of us who use it know about X11 and Linux/Unix anyway and probably should/do have it on a Linux box anyway but we love OSX so we try to put it here too. The lack of comments for this tells you mostly it is run on Linux and Win not OSX.

I can't find an app as good native to OSX but maybe there is one? But it is a wonderful project and application that really helps secure/admin networks.

TIJEJ  Have you tried CocoaPacketAnalyzer ?

Maybe it's not as powerful as WireShark, but it's a good piece of software :

AirPort Hack for MacOS X
Feb 3 2009

TRASHIE  "Use this patch at your own risk, as the developer doesn't own an AirPort card himself."

The confidence this builds! :p OMG I hope he at least tested it on a machine with one in it!

Funny thing to say lol.
