TONY ARNOLD  It would be great if you could download 1.0fc3 and see if that fixes your problem. I did a large amount of work to address issues such as this one.

TONY ARNOLD  I'm currently have quite a bit of trouble with PICT files - they're not dealt with as well as most other formats are by Core Animation. Would you mind sending me a copy of the PICT file you're using as a desktop so I can try to fix this error?

I think that the auto-update screen may have been lost in the mix - this definitely needs fixing, but if you hide your other active applications and re-launch you should see a dialog asking you if you'd like to check for updates - once you've responded there will be a new icon in your status bar.

TONY ARNOLD  Why is this disk image wrapped in a zip? Disk images provide their own compression - there is no reason to do this, it's as bad as using Stuffit to compress your files!

TONY ARNOLD  Yes, 0.53r260 was compiled without PowerPC support (it wasn't on purpose!). r260a is a Universal binary - sorry about the confusion.

I've begun updating the 0.5 releases myself to work under Tiger with a view to creating a new virtual desktop management tool at some point down the road.
