THREEDEE912 Pros: Can open virtually any type of video file. Free! Cons: UI is a bit messy/unintuitive, and sometimes crashes randomly when seeking. Result: A decent piece of open source software that has lots of features that are packed into a somewhat confusing interface that occasionally crashes. (Version 1.0rc2)

Xtorrent | Feb 27 2009 |
THREEDEE912 You do know this hasn't been updated in over a year? Because Xtorrent is based on the free and open source Transmission BitTorrent client, it generally cannot be updated because the Transmission developers changed the license agreement to prevent other people from profiting off of their work. Such as what Xtorrent was doing. From the Transmission team: "Portions of the code will be changed to avoid blatant attempts to profit significantly from our work" But David Watanabe keeps selling this ancient version in the hopes that some ignorant person will come along and give money to him anyway. Now it only takes a few seconds! Plus it has drivers for my old HP LaserJet too! Only thing that annoys me is the "Common Settings 1, Common Settings 2, Extra Settings 3" or whatever, as it's difficult to find a specific setting hidden in all of the generic-named menus. THREEDEE912 The latest version of VLC is out. Here's my take on it: Features: Features a ton of video viewing options, can open almost any format out there. Ease of Use: Relatively easy to use, just open up any video/audio file. However, the UI seems a bit messy. Stability: Generally plays most videos well, however sometimes spontaneously crashes, or skips and displays garbage instead of video. Overall: A great free media player which can playback almost any format, but not always very reliable. (Version 0.9.6)

THREEDEE912 The NBC Olympics thing was horrible. NBC put a ton of DRM and region-locking and service provider checks in place, which really made everything, well, suck. However, that was NBC's fault, not really Microsoft's. I'm gonna try an post an honest review. Silverlight installed without any problem. It's function is similar to flash, displaying interactive content online. I'd say its about the same speed as Flash too, maybe only slightly faster at certain things. However, not many sites use Silverlight so it's hard to tell. (Version 2.0)

Because Privoxy and Tor are trying to anonymize your surfing, they obviously have to connect to the internet in order it to work! THREEDEE912 Yes, this is the version that doesn't require X11. I found the Release Candidates to be pretty stable, so 3.0 should be fine. For some reason the final 3.0 release doesn't have a PPC version. As compared to NeoOffice, both are very similar (mainly because NO is based off of OOo). Both have the native printing window and Open/Save, and use the system fonts. I actually find NeoOffice slower at certain things, but that may be because I'm using an old PPC G4. I'd rate both about the same. (Version 3.0)

THREEDEE912 Adobe's Flash Player is still slow as molasses compared to Windows versions. It's been like this forever, even when Macromedia was developing it, and Adobe still hasn't fixed it. I'll be fair with my star ratings. THREEDEE912 This is one great app! It's slow, but I guess you can expect that when it is working with 2000+ photos. great features, and it's still being developed! Can't wait till it's out of alpha. I even used this for the title page of the school yearbook! (Version 2.0a6)

Firefox | Jun 24 2006 |
THREEDEE912 Firefox used to be relatively fast, but now it's getting slightly slower with each release. Each extension added also makes it go slightly slower. I still am a fan of it, just not as much as I used to be. Still a good browser on Linux or Windows though... (Version 1.5.0.4)

THREEDEE912 It's like a hybrid of Safari and Firefox. Made with Cocoa, Renders with Gecko. Very stable, faster than Firefox, and it's simple to use, too. With CamiTools, it's even better. (Version 1.0.2)

WAN Check | May 31 2006 |
THREEDEE912 Due to various webserver problems, some WAN Check downloads ended up getting 'cached' files that included older, buggier versions that did not have the 'damaged package' bug fix. WAN Check will be hosted on MacUpdate until further notice. (Version 1.6b)

THREEDEE912 This the the best FREE antivirus for Mac OS X! It's virus DB is also updated at least once a day. Even found some worm in a zip archive that was e-mailed to me (even though it won't affect me). COmes with a 'Sentury' to keep an eye on download folders, desktop, or whatever you set it to. (Version 1.0.3h)

THREEDEE912 WMP (or 'wimp') hasn't been updated in years, and is terrible anyway. It lacks a standard interface, and can't open over half of the windows media files out there. I'd use QuickTime any day. (Version 9)

Desktop Manager | May 19 2006 |
THREEDEE912 With lots of windows on my desktop, this app is great. Almost no bugs, except for when you quit with windows on other desktops, you lose them! (Version 0.5.3)

KVA With 0.5.3, the windows reappear if you restart the desktop manager. You then have the option of collating the windows into one screen and quitting the desktop manager.

Firefox | May 19 2006 |
THREEDEE912 I am a fan of Firefox, but it seems after every release, it gets slower and slower, but it seems to have no new features. I also can't go to the start/end of a text box by pressing up/down. From a cold boot, it takes at least dozen bounces. If you just installed a new extension. sometimes 2 dozen, then quits, then starts up and bounces some more. (Version 1.5.0.3)

THREEDEE912 I'd use QT or even WMF before this! I can't believe they are still around. In old versions, they tried to trick you into getting the 'Gold' version. Was almost like adware for mac. (Version 10.1 (412))

THREEDEE912 This game is simple and fun, just a multiplayertank shooter. You run over flags to get powerups, anything from being able to walk thru walls, to rocket launchers, and even a laser. The game controls are simple, but some of the more advanced commands and controls are difficult to use, because there is almost no documentation. (Version 2.0.8)

VLC Media Player | May 15 2006 |
THREEDEE912 VLC can open up almost every single type of audio/video file. It has a bunch of features, and you can't beat that price. The only thing is that it stutters and crashes ALOT. (Version 0.8.5)

THREEDEE912 I've been using this browser along with a few others for a while. It's a great little browser, with many features a web developer could use. There's a few bugs, and bookmarks and history don't really work. (Version 0.837)
